Fantastic Emz, you’ll really enjoy the A2K - particularly the section from the youth hostel to Morvich. Spectacular. I did the trail with my brother last summer. Get yourself a midge headnet btw. Looking forward to seeing your A2K vid here 👌🏻
Morning. I did watch your video of the AKW. Really enjoyed it. I have midge net packed. It's never too early for them is it. So excited. Heading up today to drum then off on trail tomorrow. Thanks so much 🙏
😁 Looks all good to me Emz. You've prepped well for this trip. The only other item I would take is a bug headnet for when you've pitched up and doing meals etc at night.. have a fantastic time, keep safe and Well Done Emz 😁👍🥾🏕🏴
Looking well organised. You'll love the trail. I just finished the Great Glen Way and did the Affric-Kintail a few years ago, as part of a longer coast-to-coast. Probably a bit over the top on head torches. It's light till 10.00 pm and light again from around 5.00 am. There's still snow on the tops and it looks spectacular. Temp varies a lot, but you're right to plan for cold. (I'm currently in Dingwall, it's 10.00 am and 5 degrees). No problem with midges just now (normally mid-May at least before they become a pain). Are you staying at the campsite in Cannich? It's a nice site. Plenty of great spots between there and Morvich for wild camping. Have fun! ETA: would be interesting to know your final pack weight.
Hi travel scot thank you for the advice I really appreciate it. My final pack weight is 13kg. But that's my norm anyway. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. 🙏
Mint hew!, looking forward to seeing you and rollo out, I'm considering taking Hamish on his first wild camp next weekend fingers crossed, I hope he doesn't bolt up barking in the night, I've had him at mt hooley and he was out cold after a great yomping trip, oh and typical I got a 65ltr dry bag here,as a pack liner, for your next big adventure! Anyway take care and I didn't see any midge net or spray in that load out😉🤣 Thanks for sharing 👍
Nice looking back garden Emz. Always good to see other folks gear. You've plenty o dry bags eh 😉 Aye my Lanshan bathtubs feel abit flimsy but they have stood the test of time. You weighed your pack with everything in it? Good luck on the Affric - Kintail way. 👍
Nice one Emz , well prepared there , I don’t know if it’s still early for the midgies but take some spray and a head net just in case , but aye you’ll smash it mate ,enjoy Emz atvb Deka 👍🏻👊🏻💪🏻👌🏻💯
Morning deka. I was thinking that last night. I've got them so I'll pack. Cheers. I say its never too early for Scottish midges like and they love me 😬😂😂
Hi Peter thanks for watching. My pack weight was 13kg. But the first night I camped I took a few bits out I didn't need so it ended up being 12. It was a fantastic trail. Did it in 2.5 days
That's a canny view from your back garden mind and it is a canny sized backpack as well, 65L - yikes! Better to be prepared mind, hopefully you will not need your waterproofs or your first aid kit and yes, the last thing you want is getting your gear wet. Good to hear Rollo is going with you and a nice bit of company as well with Emma taking and picking you up. Fingers crossed you get good weather and have no tantrums (well, maybe one) and I look forward to seeing your progress on future videos. Best of luck, cheers Alan
Morning alan. Hope you're well. Aye it's not a bad view is it. I try and try to go ultra light but us women like to pack a few bits and bobs 😂. In all seriousness though I have only the essentials. Appreciate you watching thank you. I'll try and have a tantrum or two 😂😂
You're well prepared Emz, it's a route that gets better as you go and I recommend a celebratory meal and beer in The Kintail Lodge when you finish. Avoid The Clunie Inn, it's been taken over and the prices are rip off, 8 quid for a beer bah! All the best 👍
