102 days without posting. I couldn’t focus on my videos, was overthinking and decided to focus on the offline part of my life. I think I’ve experienced a burnout that is over now. It feels good to have the desire to create and the desire to share again. I hope you still remember me and my channel :)
Good to see again Niki, glad you are OK - sometimes we just need to step back and look after ourselves. Love hearing about your experiences - those coffee shops and restaurants look great, so relaxed! Take care and continue enjoying your travels.
I am so glad you are in Vietnam Niki. You have found one of the worlds true hidden gem's. The wife and I are finally retiring at the end of the month and selling our business. I hope to find a nice place in Hội An. One of my favorite RU-vidr's lives in Ho Chi Minh City. I freaking love that country. As a side note Western manufacturing is leaving China and heading straight to Vietnam. I truly believe Vietnam will become a major world class country.
@@HoaTran-nq4ht No we plan to go for a few weeks in the spring of 25 to look for a place. I will take a look at Dalat City. Any other suggestions is great appreciated.
Fascinating video. Thanks Niki. For those of us that do not travel, this view into your life in Vietnam is very interesting. I love the coffee shops. The expenses are incredible. I live in Toronto Canada which has become one of the very expensive places to live. Our grocery stores look very similar except yours has much better selection of fresh fruit and veggies. Your cost for meat, fruit and veggies is a fraction of what we spend. When you talk about $9 per day for accommodation it is hard to believe. My home is being repaired so my insurance paid for a nice place by a lake. The rental rate is 1,800 per day. Stupid expensive, but meant for 5 couples and Tom Hanks has a place near by. Chicken breasts at the store are $27/kg. And a case of 12 cans of coke was $11. It is a tourist area, but not so different from what I see in your place.
Thank you for sharing this Niki! I'm a New Zealander born in Brazil considering long term travel, and visited Vietnam before. Absolutely beautiful country. Your video is really inspiring - again, thanks for sharing =)
You've still got it! Very nice to catch up with you again and hear all about what you've been up to! It looks very nice where your staying. So glad to see you doing so well! Enjoyed watching! Look forward to your next video!❤❤❤😊
I'm so happy to see you are ready to post videos again. It gives people who live in unstable countries hope. You have made it through a very scary intense life altering situation. I'm glad that you didn't get conscripted into that stupid war that no regular American wants to fund. It's horrible that people are dying to fund greedy corrupt American billionaires who are aligned with greedy corrupt Ukrainians. The corrupt thieves aren't dying on the front line. Thank you for your wisdom and courage.
Ah yes, the expatriate life. I lived in Japan for 10 years, now back home in the US with a house, car, pets, etc. I watch your videos I want to sell it all and go back on the road.
Very interesting vlog 🤩 I really love it 😍 Thank you for all informations and by the way very very well edited. I wish I could film and edit like you. I am impressed ❤
We stay in Da Nang, and Vietnam nowadays overall isn't that cheap. We rent 2 bedroom in a huge apartment complex with a swimming pool for 11mil and it's a fair price. After living in Egypt for 2 years, everything here is two times more expensive. But the quality of life is much better, the sea is warmer, the cities are cleaner, the food is tastier :)
Go glad to hear from you Niki! Absolutely loved the video. You look well and seem happy. Hope we can continue to hear more from you, but no pressure! I am finally planning a trip abroad in 2025 and Vietnam is on the list of places I want to travel. I hadn't heard of Dalat before you mentioned it, but in researching it more it really looks like a great city. I don't particularly enjoy the super hot and humid climates, and Dalat looks like a slightly cooler alternative to some of the other cities in Vietnam. Hope you continue to post videos when you can!
I have never been to vietnam but after watching this video i got to admit that i really want to go there one day! Your video has a very comfortable atmosphere and beautiful details and shots. I really hope your family is alright and wish you only the best! Greetings from Berlin :)
Good to see you, Nikki. I hope all is well with you. I'd love to hear what you were up to while you took a break. We all need that now and again. It's like a cleansing for the soul. Looking forward to some new video. Stay safe. Safe travel.
You mentioned the 5kg bags of rice, but they are, in fact, NOT common in Asia. They're common in Europe and the United States, but the common amount of rice to purchase is a large 20kg-30kg sack in all of Asia. It takes about 2 months to go through each 20kg bag of rice for a family of 4, and it is MUCH cheaper to purchase 20kg-30kg bags than those tiny 5kg bags. Here in the United States, my family and I only purchase 30kg bags of rice from local Asian markets, because regular grocery stores do not have them - but every Asian market, even the tiniest ones, have hundreds of 30kg sacks of rice.
Good to see you again, Niki. And this was a very interesting video. I was stunned at the price of everything! It is so freakin expensive here where I live in the US.
Nikki, great to see you again and to see that you are well and enjoying Vietnam. A very informative video and much enjoyed. Best Wishes from Australia.
unrefrigerated milk are common in southeast asia because the weather is hotter, products like fresh milk will go bad so fast. so UHT milk is made to be able withstand heat but not exactly taste like fresh milk
Why don't you go on a cooking course? Make a vid with an old grandma so she can show you to use all those weird veggies? Make a vid about and we learn.
After a long time not seeing your videos, I am glad to see you are settled in Vietnam and having a good safe life. GRAB and motorbike access is the same in the Philippines just for FYI.
I was missing your content since you were in Istanbul...been following you since you left Russia. I am just some random guy living in Nashville, Tennessee in the USA, so your reach is FAR! Welcome back!
Some of the food choices in the market made me gag; most was OK. One thing I do not really understand about countries who set their currency such that you need a bunch of 000000 to equal a small amount of value. That must mean that items which have only one or two zeros as their cost must be incredibly cheap or non existent. Please go on about that if you like. Bravo to you for finding happy ways to live abroad: I could never live in an Asian country; They have always just turned me off. That's probably my cultural heritage creeping out (American, but ancestry of NW Europe - lots of Scandinavian -- influences in my blood (and 2% Russian).
Welcome back. And you are back in my favorite country again. I understand the feeling of burn out, I too have experienced it many times as well in my long life. And you either have to get out of the situation or go crazy. It's good to see you are not crazy... yet. 😂❤
It’s great to see you producing videos again and that you took time to relax, unwind, and regain your mental and physical health. Thank you for the lovely postcard you sent me. I look forward to joining you again online via Zoom very soon. I would love to learn more about what is happening in Russia. The war against Ukraine sadly continues 😢
Great, happy to know that the postcard reached you :) the next Zoom is right tomorrow. (and most likely I won't be posting much about Russia-Ukraine, there are plenty of other channels doing that on daily basis)
A lot of countries won't let you stay there without health insurance. I'm in my 30s and I'd be scared of getting sick or injured. A lot of countries have cheap hospital visits but then there's places like American where you'd be screwed
@@markdouglas8073 Yeah, that's what we called them back when I rode, too. And it is true. I crashed once. There is no time to react. Yes, I had a helmet, leather jacket and gloves.
Good to see you back Niki. I was watching one of my favorite Vietnamese Vloggers the lady from “What the Pho” Channel. It would be nice too see you collaborating with her 😊 Take care Niki.
Wondered where you were. Seeing Vietnam with you is a refresher for me. I went in 1996 for the first time I applied for a visa at the Embassy in Bangkok where I was living, The visa was $100 and I think valid for one month, Went from Saigon to Hanoi on the Singh bus. $55 at the time to go all the way. You could stop off along the way and catch the bus when it came through. Looking forward to more videos soon.
That must've been a great adventure! Sometimes I think about what's Vietnam (and other Asian countries) were like 20-30 years ago when Asia wasn't that popular tourist destination
I’m so glad you are doing better, I was worried about you, thinking you were held against your will. So glad your safe. Enjoyed your informative video about living abroad. Hope your family is safe and that you will post sooner than later. Thank you!
Glad you are ok and back. But why always talking about prices? Just show or live your life. Talk to people (also the local ones), learn to cook, go to the beach, play typical games. Mingle! I would love to see more Vietnamese culture!
Niki, I imagine you use a credit card account to receive money from RU-vid, etc. and to draw from for spending money. Is that right? Are credit cards honored in most places that you’ve been?
I expect all large businesses to accept my credit card, like at supermarkets, chain restaurants, any kind "professionally" looking store. Small family businesses and most of coffee shops don't accept credit cards. Although they all accept online card payment by scanning a QR code, that's what local people use most often
I advise you to get a helmet. That brain of yours is the best thing you have. I really appreciated the quality of this video. Cheers to you Niki! You made the right decision.
How nice to hear from you. You adapt easy. The food you ate looked very strange. Then you put it all on a leaf and eat it. You did say peanut butter mixed with other ingredients. You talked about Dima. Is he also a blogger? Please, don't wait so long before sharing you and how you cook, etc?
Food here is different indeed. Someday soon I'll make a video about local food, not sure about cooking video though. And Dima isn't a blogger, he hasn't uploaded any videos yet
I am blown away by the Vietnamese grocery store - so many modern products in fabulous packaging. I thought Viet Nam was totally third world and I can't believe such a modern supermarket.
the shopping centre in saigon was the best because the quality of the food market.japanese, vietnamese, taiwanese, korean, american, french. families eating having fun. modern as
This is only a normal store in a mountainous small town. If you see several mall in big city like Hanoi, Saigon, Hai Phong, Vinh, Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang...you can find every thing you want for a Western or local!
It is refreshing to see your channel is back up and running again. You have good content, otherwise you wouldn't have over 200,000 subscribers, right?!
pigs brain and frogs...mmmm I'll pass lol Great to see your still doing well Nikki...I love the travel vids. I think Vietnam is my favourite over turkey better cost of living. looking to see if you have any info on medical visit costs and general prescriptions.,
I have never seen pigs brains for sale but I have eaten brawn. A butcher shop in Coniston, Cumbria, sells it. It tastes delicious on buttered toast but its best not to think too much about what it is made from 🤭🐷🥩
