Wow Alana, it drives me CRAZY that he leaves things out (the bottle opener on the counter immediately above the drawer it belongs in, all of his skin care products on the bathroom counter when he knows I like a clear counter and everything has a spot in the closet inches away from the counter, his shoes sprawled on the floor next to the shoe rack) and my mind has been consumed with “How can I teach him to put these things in the right spot?!” “Why does he not care if he knows that I care?!” “Does he think I’m just his personal maid and it’s my job to clean up after him?!” and then I watch this video I’ve watched several times but now I hear you say the line about how this is just how I will serve him. Wow that hit me so hard! My mind is totally in the wrong! I think of ways to serve him, and HELLO here one is! I am a helpmate fit for him. I put things away because he doesn’t. Great intro. It was complete happenstance that I stumbled upon this video, but boy do I ever need that reminder over and over to have my joy come from the SOURCE! Boy am I ever a terrible failure at doing everything right as a mom and wife, but I CAN be an oasis of peace and happiness and gratitude to my husband and my kids.

I really loved this video, thank you for taking the time to make it. Especially the "make love often" and creating a warm welcoming home for him to come home to. We have a 17 month old and it seems like the every day little things have taken over my priority as being his wife and partner. If you haven't communicated it in a loving way before then maybe you can try that as your last attempt and if he still doesn't stop then just pray for him to stop.
this video was just an absolute delight to me. be encouraged on your path, in your choices. it amazes me that people of the west take so much pride in freedom: freedom of expression and freedom of choice, but yet when a person DOES choose to use their freedom to do something different, its a huge problem.

I needed to hear this. Having to pick his dirty socks from the floor everyday doesn't mean he doesn't respect me, it means he's tired when he gets in from work and wants to get in the bath asap! I will strive to serve my fiancé (we'll be getting married when we can afford it!) by not taking these tiny things personally and letting the enemy cause strife in our relationship. All we are SCRIPTURALLY called to do is manage our home, however that works for YOUR family, love our husbands and children, respect, submit and help our husbands, and raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord! Discipline them and love them. This looks different from home to home. :)

On the subject of intimacy, how do you overcome simply not being in the mood? I struggle with this as a stay at home mom of two toddlers. I’m tired, I’m stressed and intimacy is the furthest thing from my mind. But when you have small children your chances for privacy are limited which often means no time to get in the mood. And that means it often is not much fun for me, and when it’s consistently not fun eventually it becomes more of a chore. Which is a struggle I have no idea how to overcome.
I know right? the simplest things are so hard to remember on a day to day basis sometimes. we get so caught up in life. Like: Our marriage is a picture of the gospel to the world, Christ is in control of everything so just roll with it, he's got it under control, and to live out the gospel for our families to see and feel the love of Christ! Why are these foundational things so easy to forget? :)
Hello, I really wish you the best, i hope that your husband will admire you and appreciates you because your a treasure, seeing and hearing someone like gives hope to this world that not all women went crazy...I personally don't believe in divorce, marriage is made forever and that's why they become 1 body and 1 soul...I think that a homemaker needs her husband to make her happy, love her so much and make her happy and give her some time off to be comfortable and always be there for her, since you make your husband and family your whole world, than he must treat you the same and makes you his whole world too...take care and i support you in your choice!

I am struggling because I wanted to be a doctor and I have been at stay at homemaker for 3 years and I am struggling to do this. My husband expects me to stay home and give him six children. When your husband is home, do you let him just sit around while you take care of everything?
Diana Wampler oh not anymore:) yes, I picked up a serving job for a few months just for fun to add a little something to my life:) Now, for the last 3 years, I work my Juice Plus business from home. Travel on occasion and make lots more, work way less:)
The reason your husband won't do his part to help is its likely that his father didn't help his mother either. Children want is to be like their parents in some ways. Children look up to their parents for guidance and understanding. When a son is growing up he mimics his father in his actions and words. If your father in law didn't help his wife its likely your husband saw his fathers behavior and subconsciously felt that it was the OK thing to do. The only real example of married life we observe is our own parents, good or bad. If our fathers and mothers behave and react a certain way as children we watch and mimic their behavior. Which is why parents really need to be aware of what they say and do in front of their children. The children will pick up the good and unfortunately the bad. Now, having said that my best education on how to be a good man didn't come from my parents it came from the female friends I met after my divorce. I had four great female friends that help me become grounded. They explained this to me that my mother and ex-wife were unable to. Not sure why but they did. As I recall my dad gave my mother flowers twice a year, period. Valentines day and her birthday. My mother never received flowers any other time, ever. My friends explained to me that women love flowers and its ok to surprise your wife with flowers even if it ISN"T a special day because every day is and should be special. The same goes with being a man and cleaning up after yourself. When I was married I helped my wife with housework and she helped me with yard work. She enjoyed gardening and mowing the lawn and when I got home from work before she did I helped get dinners and/or laundry started. We had a simple plan of completing all the housework and yard work by Thursday night so that we could have the entire weekend free. We had full time jobs but didn't have any children. That's another story. Currently I am dating a woman who grew up with full time, live in housekeepers. She currently lives with her sister and nephew. They have TWO live in housekeepers. I told her if we marry there will not be housekeepers in our future. The expression on her face betrayed her thoughts. I don't think we're going any further.
Actually I haven't watched this video I really liked your wedding story video I did have some concerns see I used to listen to Moody Radio when I was first saved well what had happened was I was saved and I actually heard the voice of the Lord and it changed me radically but the Lord had told me not to go back across town with my friend and another voice told me if you stay here you will be stuck here and even told me a man that would be moving into my room and the description of the man my friend was going to let a man stay there matching that description but he thought about me I ended up back in gold with crack cocaine on 1 day mom invited us to a christmas dinner they all were drinking in 1 section mom was by herself sitting in the corner the yard drinking when I asked her if she was okay she growled. I told my friend and brother David Who currently resides in Central America I said David this is Christmas it's so dark no wonder people hurt themselves on Christmas he said yes brother it's like that well he said more but anyway it was a clear blue sky on that day nice breeze but you could feel all this oppression I had some music playing on Moody Radio beautiful music and I told David read something out of that Bible I need to hear something because he was reading from the King James Reina Valera Bible I think he read John 3:16 I could feel that right now just thinking about it and that continued to Echo God so loved the world he gave his son I realized then how I had despised that I said oh Jesus I'm so sorry I begin to have tears the music on the radio started to sound like it was inside of my head inside of me my body began to shake I started feeling all this power and love coming down on me my mouth began to stammer I stood up and tried to get out of the picnic table it was difficult my mouth was going tatatattaaaaatatata I started speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gave me utterance. I looked up and there was a giant rainbow no clouds clear blue sky when I saw that I thought about Noah and I said oh my God everything is true the whole thing is true because I was just baptized in the SPIRIT of Truth the Holy Spirit my friend begin to prophesy and say how the LORD loves you Brett Harless he make a promise to you he make a covenant with you that's how he speaks because he's a Spanish brother I have still struggled at times to read much of the word of God but I know the word of God the reason I mention this it's because John MacArthur and many of the people on Moody Radio preach against such experiences that's a very serious thing to do in that case because the Bible speaks very expressly about it the cases that are made to say that it's not for today are completely out of context and the implication is that it's the devil doing it that's a problem after that experience I used to listen to these preachers on Moody Radio but one by one the Lord had me to shut them down the Lord would use them at that time but he taught me to learn of him from him anyway just a little explanation on why I thought to make this comment GOD has not changed the method he used worked well then why would he change them ? anyway I love you very interesting story thank you I had to use voice type I hope the typos are not too bad
By the way I didn't make those comments to be judgemental just a warning to discern people get so wrapped up in certain doctrines and never seek it out for themselves if a teacher teaches a very high percentage of Truth then the thing that is false a lot of people will just swallow it in fact they themselves probably have just swallowed it however when you read Acts chapter 8 because many of these to teach that teach that when the Holy Ghost fell on them the first time that was it for every believer they receive the Holy Ghost and it is true the spirit of God is with you he was with the disciples when they were walking with Jesus and he does begin to guide you and he does do a work inside of you or else nobody would ever be convicted of sin even the world has him attempting to convince them but if you read they believe then they were baptized but the apostles were sent to lay hands on them that they might receive the Holy Ghost for he had not yet Fallen upon any of them only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that is written there for a purpose God already knew all these Church doctrines that would come so he made sure that the scripture spells it out where you can read between the lines I didn't know any of this when I had that experience it just happened to me and I begin to preach and sometimes people would even manifest stuff it's like I said I love you all very much it's not being mean or trying to create division it's just that this topic is actually a very serious one it also has a lot to do with the power that's available from God and the love and the ability for God to use you in a mighty way not in just a natural way
I find it hard to believe that at all times I need to let my husband do what he wants regardless of how dead exhausted I am at the end of the day. Some days if he wants time to himself fine but all the time? Where is my break? Where is my me time? It's selfish for him to think I'm super women and can do everything on little sleep.

Sin will continue to enter our lives even though we follow Christ... we are still sinners even though we belong to Christ and He has redeemed us. He fulfilled the law and paid for our sins, yet we will still fail because we are human. Rest assured in your salvation!

I'm also an atheist, and while I think Alana's beliefs are strange, her choice to be a mother and homemaker is hers. Do you dance? In dancing there is the "lead" and the "follow". Most forms of dancing has the male as the "lead", does that then make the female 'weak' or a 'fucking object'? You really need to chill out and stop disrespecting homemakers. Submission of one person to another doesn't make them lesser. Learn what you're talking about before saying something negative about it.
