I recently wrote a book on teaching and the one thing I would share with you is that the best form of classroom management is to teach lessons that engage and stimulate children. I totally disagree about the maths. It is an asinine requirement that prevents well-qualified graduates from teaching - especially mature students who returned to learning quite a time after leaving school. In what other fields would they backtrack like this? If you have a First and a Master's in your subject you should not be rejected because you don't have a GCSE in maths. It would be far better to set a test in logic as that would help all teachers. I taught for 27 years and didn't once use mathematics to teach English, philosophy, or theology. How on earth is knowing about quadratic equations going to help you to teach Shakespeare? No wonder we miss out on so many quality teachers. What a shame that the people who create these idiotic rules aren't required to study logic. An acquaintance of mine responded to the call for more teachers a few months ago and although he has a Doctorate from Cambridge and 20 years of leadership success in the workplace, he was rejected for a lack of GCSE in maths.
I hope some of the 21 people who gave this the thumbs up will write to the DFE. I wrote many times to them and to Nick Gibb and both have refused to converse with me further because they simply cannot back up this ruling with an ounce of logic.

Hi, Which University is offering PGCE course( Primary Education with QTS School Direct) in January 2022? Do PGCE course fall in for Graduate route? Can dependent go on this route? Is there funding available for the early years degree? How about primary school and special educational needs? PGCE vs SCITT (school centred initial teacher training) Because my main concern was moving abroad as soon as possible? Are you familiar with that route?
It depends if you want to return home after? Ideally you should get your nqt status before you go anywhere as most british schools wont have any interest in hiring you if you come back without your nqt status. Usually though, you require at least 2 years experience before most international schools will consider you. I know as I am just as eager to work abroad haha

This depends on your provider. In the secondary route i had 2 placements in a high school and one 2 week placement in a primary. 3 days in school, 2 at university. Hope that helps.

I have just accepted an offer from a university, to do a Secondary History Teacher Training PGCE. Having spent time working in different schools, as a cover teaching assistant and cover supervisor through supply agencies, I though this route would suit me best. If you have a qualification equal to an honours degree, yes. Otherwise, you can do a DET and professional formation leading to QTLS (which is equivalent to QTS).

Teachers are in demand here. There are still promotions to entice people to get into teaching. Chances are high. Some subjects more demand than others.

Its hardcore. Just think about cramming 3 years if your degree in one year. Its jam packed. I qualified in 2018 with D+T WITH QTS. I did 1 year NQT, however they have changed the NQT year as 2 years now ,due to the pandemic. But to be honest to be a good teacher you will physically need to be a class,as online can only do so much.

If I was to do it now I would go direct as you learn more on the job. Though its alot of work juggling assignments and work. If you want it more paced and structured 100% PGCe uni route. I think languages has a bursary too, big PLUS!❤

@@littlechristrosine997 Hi! I've just started the Teach First training programme. You do have assignments to complete by the way but it is spread out throughout the year. You get a lot of support and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Though it is tough and intense, would recommend it if you want to be in the classroom from day one. The mission of ending educational inequality is the reason why I chose this route (I was also considering the PGCE route- which is what I would have applied for had I not been successful in my TF application). Also, there is pedagogical content and the training is centred around this so you wouldn't be at a disadvantage due to that.

It's always good to aim high. But the benefit of gaining level 7 is to reduce the amount of modules you need to take for a masters. Otherwise level 6 is fine

This will depend on your circumstances, whether you are already qualified with QTS status or just starting your journey into teaching. Physics teachers are in huge demand in the UK with a shortage of teachers to fill the roles. Contact schools in the area you are thinking of teaching, they may just sponsor you.
