Another grocery tip, especially for folks who are just shopping for themselves. If you can swing by the grocery store after work on your way home (one that is en route, or not crazy out of the way), take a backpack and get essentials when you run out. It is honestly less of a hassle when you go more often and get what you need right before you run out that given food. And it's more cost-effective. If you go less frequently and are taking a cart for this grocery run journey, it's easier to get more stuff than what you reallyyyyy need because a part of you is thinking you have a whole cart to fill and 'im already needing to lug all this home, so might as well take this just in case?'

Yeah, I usually shop that way living in NYC but not now due to the coronavirus. Trying to reduce the number of times I'm in one. Plus in stores like TJs, they are so damn crowded, a cart makes it even more of a hassle weaving around and every other person looks annoyed at you. That said, you're potentially saving time over the long run by going less often if you typically shop at TJs or WFs where the wait time can be 15min.

Great video! Almost all of these points are things I deal with at my current location but I conveniently overlooked because NYC has always been a dream. This video helped me see things with a more rational mindset so that I can be better prepared when I decide to make the move. Thanks for the advice!

Great tips!! but a major tip I think you left out is money. before moving to New York you should have AT LEAST $5000 cash (for food ,rent, & utilities. And another thing, make sure and put a data plan on your cellphone , especially if you don't know the City well, so in that case you can use maps and download apps to get your self around NYC with getting lost!

Cheap apartments in Manhattan are $1900 now, and renting a room (Harlem) is typically around $200-$250 a week. Prices went up.

Another comment already said it, but right now, coronavirus is the top one for me. Although it crossed my mind in the worst case scenario NYC would be bad for something like that, I never really expected I'd be here when and if it happened. Been here long enough and was looking to move out before this happened, now really regret not doing so. Anyway, agree with all of your points and thanks for making the video!

Most of us New Yorkers shop online (MaxDelivery or Instacart) and get our groceries delivered. It's too much of a hassle dragging groceries through the streets in a cart...especially in bad weather. You pay a small delivery fee but it's worth it.

Yes it's so smart! In my experience of doing Instacart I've had caterpillars in my veggies and rotten food and so that kind of scared me for life LOL.

I live in Downey California, is sunny everyday, my grocery store is two blocks away, I get to work in 15 minutes, I have a car in my driveway, I rent a 2 bedroom house for $1,500.00, my doctor is almost across the street. I will go to New York........to visit.

Yea.. Could never do NY..I grew up in Los Angeles.. So it was all I knew.. Thought it was crazy but it was all I knew.. Moved to Colorado for a couple years and my world changed.. Was so nice not to deal with traffic or people.. had to move back home due to covid. Holy jeez does it make you realize how CRAZY major cities are. Can't wait to get out of here and go to the middle of nowhere lol. Not complaining.. I'm extremely lucky I have a family that was supportive.

Hope you find your way back to Manhattan. Seems that you really love the City. I love visiting it but after 2 weeks it gets annoying. Especially because of all the uncomfortable things like not having a car, parking space or living space. Still it’s the best city in the world. Though not the most practical. So, if you ask me if you wanna live in NYC: just don’t. Find a b city where there are plenty of grocery stores, they have parking and you can pay 1000 dollars a month for a decent rent.

I live in North east PA, with family all over NY. Manhattan, Bronx, Ronkonkoma, upstate, Rochester, Queens, Harlem, Staten Island, etc etc. It’s not what it hypes up to be. It’s definitly cool to visit, but to live there? Unless you’re already rich, chances are you’re not gonna have a good time.

You're very cute, and the jumping around make me physically ill. Most beginners will edit and edit and edit and edit which is hard to watch. I think I watched 2:32 and I couldn't handle the poor filming. Get all your thoughts together before you start filming.
