Dedicated to all those with ROOMMATES, ON THE ROAD, NOMADIC, or IN TRANSITION before attaining a stable living situation with your own privacy to create a SACRED SPACE for Spiritual Communion.
I wish more people would speak more on this bc a lot of us are currently in living situations where it's dangerous for us to practice openly, especially during the pandemic. 😟
Same! I can't wait to finally have my own home again...I'm going to go full force for all of my ancestors! They truly have been helping me, I'm just in this temporary hurdle and I've been doing what I can to keep practicing and venerating them without bringing attention to myself which could lead to me being on the streets.
When I had to come back home for certain situations, my mom actually got/gave me a box for all my pieces, even a few journals. It comforted me to know everything was sound and out of sight. There is nothing like having your own ❤
Beautifully delivered. Important to respect and honor tradition but must adapt to times and situations based on what we CAN do versus where we are limited. Great work!
Respect I know someone who uses the shed to do their spiritual work me personally I burn ancestor money when I see the green l know everything is well respect and blessings
Thank you for this advice 🙏 makes sense. With covid-19 and everyone being home, my sacred spot had to be moved due to interruptions and traffic from my kids and husband. I had to rearrange things to make room for everyone. This video helped alot.
I hope mine is ok. I started with a small shelf. A white 7day candle. I put some fresh flowers on there. Gave THANKS to my ancestors. Just today. I just remember you saying keep it simple. Is this ok? Oh i forgot water. I'm going to add it now. 🤦😔
Thank you for sharing, you are always appreciated. My living conditions don’t really allow me to be open with my spiritual practices, so due to the clash that it may create I have to be mindful to keep things peaceful and at the same time not completely compromise myself. This was very helpful. Thank You
OMG! this is what I already do. I have everything in a clear shoebox tote and I lay everything outside for use and then put it back. Sometimes I just pull out the frame with their names on it and talk real quick
I came across this at a time it's much needed. I'm expecting to get my ikin and been wondering how to keep it. Actually thought of a moveable closet but I got simpler ideas from your video. Thank you for sharing this. You are appreciated always.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful information bc I live in the house with a highly negative spirit. And I don’t have a spiritual mentor or teacher. So thanks for sharing Ase’
It’s okay to still have a sacred space somewhere inside, but traditionally, the food, offerings, and working are done outside. Inside is for prayer, meditation, and communion with them.
Alafia! If you want it done by Isese then you need to go to the EgunEgun village or have Iroko tree or have elder woman. Woman who are still on menstrual cycle can not work with EgunEgun. It is ment for mature woman or men. Thats why the Iyami are older woman. Or you practice the Lukumi tradition (Cuban) and receive the Opa Iku. That is an Egbado Lukumi tradition. Ashe Ooo, O dabo 🙏🏾
The elders are within you. Just remember. Meditation is good before you begin your journey so that you can get acquainted with each voice, become the observer, receive the knowledge, using wisdom, and continue to gain understanding..
This is why we need readings maybe once in a month and we should make to get sacrifices done because without readings and sacrifices we will not be able to hear what our ancestors are saying
Your information is absolutely on point Queen. You conveyed the message with such grace and love. Queen much appreciated. Nature is my ancestor stomping ground. Thank you much. I am still looking for some oudh oil.
If I set up a Ancestor Altar in my bedroom how do I properly take down the ancestor altar until I can find a place and set up my ancestor altar other than my bed room?? Please help 🙏🏽
This is such a creative idea and very thoughtful of you. I would definitely get a round box though for the feminine ancestors and a square box for the masculine.
Omgggg thank you for this !!! Been trying to figure out a way w/o an altar because of my living situation, finally someone who made a perfect video 😩👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Much gratitude queen !
Greetings Queen , Am also on this path to return back to my Indigenous Afrikan Spirituality but I come from a Strict Christian Family, My mom I live with it is a Fundamental Christian or another Unapologetic Christians I have been warned and they always want me to follow Christianity they always condemn and demonised our Spirituality, but where can I get your contact I will like to get a good advice from you, that will change my life and as soon as I Intiate I won’t regret or look back . Thank you very much My Queen for this videos , Am African Born in America to African Native Parents I grew up mostly in Ghana .
I live with my mother currently who is very very Christian and this is very helpful also I am new to this journey with Yoruba am I able to do the same I know it’s different from Santeria please correct if I’m wrong.
My understanding is that you may even place personal items of theirs on your table, also items that they liked (cigs, cigars, bag of chips), or u can write their names even, and place their names on your altar. Hope this helps sis.
My question is can I place my Guides and Deities together on the same altar? Or do I have to have two or three altars. One for each. ANCESTORS & GODS & GODDESES. Thank you for sharing. Your video is very helpful! 🙏
I hope this is helpful to others. Deities & Goddesses go on the top shelf if you are doing a combination altar. Then place the Ancestors on the next shelf beneath the deities along with food offerings & other items thank the Ancestors liked. I love the portable altar due to my small space at this time. Thanks Sister for sharing about portable altars. 👍 ❤
Alafia... Boveda is a Puerto Rican culture thing. It is not "Lukumi or Cuban". The Lukumi slaves did not have a boveda. There Eguns Alter was outside of the home. I know many Cubans who practice Lukumi and they do not have a Boveda. They have a Opa Iku. Lukumi comes from Egbado, Nigeria. In reality, we do not Practice EgunEgun like Oyo Empire. Isese does mean traditional but each town is different. Example, Egbado/Yewa State practice Gelede as for Egun, very similar but different. Most people in the United States practice Isese from Oyo or who are part of the "Oyo family". Boveda concept comes from Puerto Rican espiritismo practice. Cuban have Lukumi, Dominican have Sanse/Vodu. And each Hispanic country is different. Ashe, O dabo!🙏🏾
