Man, CoD2 is a masterpiece!!! From the Era when the AAA FPS were good... The history, gameplay and the graphics were good, even for today standarts, CoD2 aged well. I can't say the same for CoD1 and CoD3, because I never finished CoD 1 to recommend to you and never played CoD3 (never had a PS). But, for CoD2: give a try! It'll worth it...
@@balsa0108 The B17 bombing mission of United Offensive was such an amazing experience. The intense fighting against Luftwaffe, watching your ally planes got shot down, and those british accent radio transmission made the mission so atmospheric.

Cod and CoD Big red one were my OG starters. Back then you really had to rely on teammates since you don't have health regen and you're not a supersoldier. Felt so good that you had to play with the ai than by yourself.
The best example of RTS/FPS hybrid that I know of that was well executed was Battlezone made by activision. It took the resource management, building, unit production, tech trees, base management and perfectly blended with fps combat and ship piloting. You did not have 3rd person view at all. All strategy component was done through a menu based system and what you can observe through your pilot's eyes.
the first 2 CoD games are definitely worth it, as well as their completely different counterparts on console (Finest Hour and Big Red One), 3 is great too imo
Video reminded me of the CoD: World at War game with the Russian missions. Probably one of the most intense WW2 moment when you have to run the flag above the capital. Hope you try it out, Sherm! Keep up the good work.
Yea there are glaring problems. But I see this game as the beginning of a new genre. I can’t wait for this new genre to really take hold and get modern quality FPS in steel division or total waresque.
As a warthunder player i wish tank were this accurate in GoH when you direct control them, getting hit by an enemy tank from a blind spot and not being able to retaliate immediately is such a horrible feeling
So wait…. It’s a 1st person where you also control a squad of 4 other people? You should check out Enlisted if you like this: it’s basically the same concept but expanded and with Tunisia, Normandy, Stalingrad, Moscow, and Berlin based maps available as well atm(all of which are very impressive if you ask me). You can also control planes, tanks, build MG pits,AAA Guns, AT Guns, sandbags, dig trenches…. It’s really heckin expansive as well as FREE TO PLAY on PS4/5, all the corresponding XBoxes, and PC- but it’s feckin awesome imo… and free- so you really can’t go wrong. They also have a “lone soldiers” mode that plays more like a traditional FPS where you don’t control a squad while also controlling your own FPS character…. So it has something for everyone! :D
CoD1 had some of the best game modes out of all the more modern CoD games. maps were also bigger. The United Offensive expansion added vehicles like tanks and jeeps to keep things moving on game modes that had bigger maps. It was sort of almost like the early battlefield game in a way. CTF in Halo CE comes very close to the style of play. Each team would get a limited number of assorted vehicles, Jeeps, tanks etc etc and the players would go do CTF things - User made mods later bought in other vehicles like motorbikes with side cars and planes that you could fly and ground pound with... There were no gimmicks like kill streaks in modern CoD games so most of your kills were all down to player skill. The only thing that could be called a kill streak was a pair of binocs that you could use to call artillery on certain areas. and when youre paying a smallish map like Pavlov's house and everyone be calling artillery *ON THE FUCKING HOUSE* then it makes for a really fun game. CoD2 I could never really enjoy. There was something about the game that i really didnt like but the single player campaign was fun as hell and i have gone back and played that over and over again more times then i can count. The good news is Activision are planning a remaster of the early CoD games so you could still get a chance to play them. The bad news is its an Activision game and you cant trust them not to tamper with the original game in a way that negatively affects it because Bobby Kotick absolutely *HATES* Vince Zampella & Jason West. Kotick will get Infinity Ward to _truly make it_ an 'Activision' title just as an F you to both of them.
Play the first game and the United Offensive expansion pack. They are absolutely worth a playthrough although you'll have to get used to health not regenerating (although health spawns are pretty common on most missions). Call of Duty World at War is great too, especially if you liked Call of Duty 2. There are also a ton of old school Call of Duty games on console. Call of Duty Finest Hour is more like Call of Duty 1.5. The graphics are better than the first Call of Duty, but the gameplay is mostly the same. Call of Duty 2: Big Red One is more like Call of Duty 2, but on console and only covers one company, but the missions are very good. Call of Duty 3 is a lot like Call of Duty 2 in terms of graphics, but also some decent missions.
