We are back on Naboo, the Jedi knights, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are dueling the Sith lord, Darth Maul.
After some kicks, lots of flips, stupid laser doors… and boom, Qui-Gon just got stabbed by Maul.
More kicks, flips, angry Obi-Wan, and bam, Maul force pushes the young padawan down the shaft.
But Obi-Wan hangs on, he remembers his master’s teachings, he trusts the force, and then he jumps, going for the flip, and….
Maul cuts him in half.
Obi-Wan didn’t have the high ground, and the two halves of his body fall down the shaft.
Dead Kenobi.
And yeah, he’s RIP for sure. He ain’t coming back with robot legs.
Soooo….. what happens in the Skywalker saga after Obi-Wan dies?
What will happen with Anakin? Will he still become a Jedi? Who will train him? Or is it possible that in this timeline the young Vader would never even become a Jedi Knight? And what would this mean for everything else?
Will things be better, or much much worse?
Well, Obi-Wan’s death just toppled this galactic house of cards.
So let’s ask the question: What if Darth Maul killed Obi-Wan Kenobi…
Darth Maul just completed his mission, both the Jedi are dead.
He wants to finish the job and kill queen Amidala, but he reconsiders.
It’s too much of a risk to go after her after the Federation lost.
Maul doesn’t want to fail after this major victory. So he leaves Naboo.
After the battle, Anakin is ecstatic, he saved the day, he blew up that big ship with the half-built halo. Everyone congratulates him.
But then his whole world gets turned upside down.
Qui-Gon is dead. And so is Obi-Wan.
And to make matters worse, master Yoda and Mace Windu crush his dreams. They tell him he won’t be trained as a Jedi.
Doug: But why?
That’s because Yoda and the rest of the council were against Anakin joining the order from the start.
Don’t forget, Yoda changed his mind only because Obi-Wan was determined to honor Qui-Gon’s dying wish.
But in this timeline, Obi-Wan is dead, so there’s no one to change the green guy’s mind.
Doug: But Anakin has over 9000 midi-chlorians
True, Anakin is strong with the force. But the council is too afraid he will turn to the dark side.
And don’t forget, at this point, the Jedi were at the peak of their dogmatic views. So Yoda wants Anakin as far away from the Jedi as possible.
Afterward, Anakin begins developing a strong resentment toward the Jedi, particularly Yoda and Windu.
They were supposed to protect him, to train him as a Jedi, so he could free his mother. But they abandoned him to his fate. They cast him aside, like some…. like some slave.
And this, this Anakin can never forgive. From a young age, the dark side boils in him.
So Anakin is left on Naboo, in Padme’s care.
With no Obi-Wan, Palpatine is free to groom Anakin when he’s a boy.
