The real question is "What if Dio's father loved him?"

I've always imagined what the Phantom Blood arc would be like if Dio and Johnathan didn't activate the Stone Mask, so Dio just became an asshole lawyer trying to ruin Johnathan's life and steal his half of the Joestar fortune while JoJo is just being an archeologist

I love how in this version of the story Giorno’s growing hella greys and DIO’s just like “damn bro. Feels bad.”

I remember a Doujin where Johnathon was the one who became a vampire and wound up essentially becoming a tragic villain fighting his new biological instincts, and Dio wound up becoming the unlikely anti-hero as a result of vampirism being an evil far above his petty schemes at that point Essentially having to do something about Johnathon for the sheer sake of survival

I've read this fanfic. No really, it's actually quite good. Starts with George dying in the carriage accident instead of his wife. Dio ends up as the immortal guardian angel of the Joestar family. Happy endings all around

I think that if Dio was good the events would play out like this: At the beginning of part one Dario Brando while robbing graves actually thought that the vampire mask looked valuable and thus took it with him as a trophy. This would lead to Dio developing a huge distaste for it as it always intimidated him. Later on instead of Dario dying he just tells Dio he doesn't want to deal with feeding him anymore and tells him to lie to George Joestar and tell him that Dario is dead. Because of this Dio is a little less comfortable with murder and has a stronger moral compass. Meaning he doesn't actually end up poisoning George Joestar later and settles into a "Damn everyone else except for me and the Joestars." mentality. After this Dario Brando would actually end up trying to reach out to Dio to plan to murder Jonathan and George with the vampire mask on as basically a ski-mask. When Dio rejects this plan and kicks his ass, Dario starts bleeding, and in his haste he put on the mask for some sort of armor leading to the mask making him into a grosser looking vampire. From there Dario would essentially take Dio's original role and Dio and Jonathan would end up training their harmon skills to defeat him. But during the fight Dio would accidentally become a vampire and in his new hunger kill Dario. But after seeing what he has become he would be disgusted by his new form and seal himself away. George would die in the fire that destroys the Joestar mansion and after Jonathan dies in the shipwreck presumably kicking Dario's face repeatedly while Erina pregnant with Jonathan's son would escape afterwards. After the end of part one, this Dio would end up basically becoming the protector of the Joestar bloodline and the person who teaches all the further JoJo'sthe basics on how Harmon works leading to all the Joestars becoming stronger from here on. I got this entire idea from a meme and the title to episode 1 of the series "Dio The Invader." Because I thought it would be cool to think of how to flip that into "Dio the Protector."

I like how they completely skip over the fact that Jonathan could have still married Erina and have Joseph. ( on a side note imagine dio at their wedding.)

Actually I feel the whole Speedwagon thing could be solved. Have Speedwagon and his ogre street boys be hired by Zeppelli to break into the Joestar estate to steal the mask. Then have him meet Jonathan, eventually once Zeppeli confronts Jonathan and DIO have it be Speedwagon that tells Jonathan about Zeppelli's plot to break in.

If Dragonball is any indication, even being born evil wouldn't stop Dio from turning good. Piccolo Jr was the reincarnation of pretty much the devil but he redeemed himself by the end of the Saiyan arc. If anything, Speedwagon claiming Dio was born evil would be just an excuse he'd use to not confront his issues. Dio be like "oh, so I'm destined to be evil? Might as well not change and continue to be terrible, after all it's not like it's MY fault that I'm born evil"

I would legitimately like to see Araki do a "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure if" to crib SMT terminology. A two or three chapter thing where Jonathan and Dio go around fighting vampires as best bros could provide a lot of dumb entertainment - and JoJo is sort of inherently really fucking dumb.

Would the Heaven plan get changed because of DIO’s change of heart? In which case, does Sephiroth Pucci succeed? Would DIO be willing to sacrifice the 36 sinners? I was on board for most of the stretches into final fantasy but I really hate what they did to Doppio and Diavolo.

In an alternative jojo line: Dio's dad loved him and he was a good person but sadly he and his wife died leaving Dio alone. He was adopted by the Joestars and was grateful for this. He grew up as Jonathan's right hand and would give bones to Danny. However a vicious relative of Dio turned into a vampire and wished to get wealthy, he forced Dio to becomr evil and go after Joestar's fortune as he mind controlled him. Jonathan managed to "kill" this relative and save Dio. Jonathan married his long time girlfriend Erina and Dio(now turned to a good vampire)was his wing man. Sadly the vicious old relative came back with revenge plans and set the whole ship on fire and supposedly murdered Dio in the process by exposing him to sunlight, which turned out to be false. During that time Dio was planning to escape from the coffin and go after that relative who has been seeking for allies to destroy the joestar line. Dio misses his best friend Jonathan but promised to protect the Joestar family. So he goes after the stardust crusaders to assist them in their journey against his uncle. Also Dio thought Giorno's mom was a legit good person and bang her only to realize she sucks, so when he finds out she is pregnant with Giorno, he snatches the baby from her and raises him in honor to his beloved dad💀In part 5 Giorno fights against the mafia. I should write a fanfic💀Now that I think about it. About this parallel universe.

I feel like in this universe you would have people be saying things like Ultimate Kars > Fiction. Which isn't much different then what I see on a daily basis sometimes Jolly. Actually Dio did become good considering what he did in part 6. Not to say he was right but he was doing what he thought was right instead of acting out of malice. About his children, Ungalo would be a lot better of a person (and all of them just in general) because they would grow up with their dad.
