This is a brand new venue for indoor FPV and it looks amazing! Never flown before? That's OK. You can walk in, rent some equipment, and start experiencing FPV right away! I hope this really catches on. I would love to see venues like this pop up in more places! Get some compliant guards on those fire sprinkler heads ASAP! If the impact doesn't break the bulb, removing a stuck quad definitely can. (Great idea though!)

I really like the idea of a space like this… Sadly I don’t think anything similar would last unless it was attached to a retail shop/cafe/restaurant of some variety. Rent isn’t cheap, and I don’t know how much you could charge for equipment rental/fly time. The atmosphere would have to be much more engaging for me to justify spending my money there. I’d want something I couldn’t set up at my own house or garage. More professional lighting, more professional (in appearance) overall is what I’m getting at. It’s a good start.

Very cool. Like an RC car track. My experience is this is a labor of love. We have a local track Norcal Hobbies I've spent some time at. I'd say talking with someone who has done tracks for years would provide invaluable information. I know what I've seen and heard but have never seen the books.

What an amazing place. Just get the word out - "If you build it, they will come"..... Add a sales/supply/parts counter to generate additional revenue. One of the RC truck tracks I used to race at was a hobby shop also which helped it keep afloat along with the club members dues and a lot of volunteers.

That's a good idea. I would also think that if they added RC car racing they would have a lot of interest since that hobby is way bigger than FPV drones. Maybe split the days between cars and drones.

I think having a few 3D printers on site in a place like this would be awesome. Send in a file (or multiple), have them printed, and go pick them up locally! It would be much cheaper than ordering a custom printed part online and paying shipping fees, and that's even accounting for the store charging some sort of "convenience fee." You would have electricity + materials + time + convenience, and you wouldn't have to take a big hit for shipping. I don't want to get a 3D printer, and I certainly don't have the expertise to use one, so this would be amazing. I think whoop race nights and the like go without saying, but like you suggested, and work bench area to repair/build drones would be awesome!

I was excited hearing about this opening but I realized I’m in a season of enjoying 5” freestyle right now. I sold my mobula 6 last year as all my quads went digital. I dream of someone building a 5” freestyle park in a parking lot somewhere.

@@MrShutterBug Thanks for the suggestion, yes I was a member for a year but the piano ranch was just too far to drive. I drive by 10 great spots on the way there. I think this idea is great and I also want it to thrive. I’m just not personally flying whoops at the moment. That might change. Especially with this weather.

I think it would be cool to have a few computers on the edges of the room that are all ready to go for flying a simulator. I think that it would be best for brand new pilots to have a way to start out easy.

Swung by Emerald City Drones this weekend with the girls (13,12). We had a soccer game in Seattle and then another up in Burlington with 5 hours in between. So, we stopped in to let the girls fly for an hour. They have a rock crawler area, a whoop area as well as pool tables, foosball and air hockey. And a super sweet doggo named Toby. The father son duo running the show were great. They took the time to teach the girls the basics of LOS before getting into the FPV goggles. The girls got the hang of it and we’re ready for FPV in about 10 minutes and soon after they were doing the hoops and the tube. They had a great time. Prices were reasonable and they are BetaFPV reps, so they also sell new kits if you wanna go further in FPV. I’m very grateful for their business and that I remembered to check them out. We will be sure to stop in next time we have a soccer game up north!

Tiny Whoov and 1:18 scale car race track/days maybe? Also, Tiny Whoov rocket league? Die Hard RC used to do community fly-ins and fix/help days in that area. I think it stopped because of the pandemic, but that seemed to really help build their client base, particularly young client base.

I would love a place like this near me... I think rental would be sweet as well... like you pay x and get a quad so many batteries time on the track and goggles... or you can bring your own goggles. I hope it works out for them!!!

actually, you can do something easily with some small thin leds 5m lines (very cheap !) and inserting them inside those transparent plastic tubes (that will diffuse light) we use for regrouping wires cables (don't know their name). Needed half an hour to insert them inside but especially the green ones are very bright and give a dramatic effect

not sure how relevant this is because this place seems to be completely indoors and I am not sure how big it is but I for one would love to see some FPV DRAG RACING, obviously you would have to split it up by class somehow, either by weight or motor size or prop size....but seeing a bunch of people who go home and tune their quads literally for max speed sounds super cool to me....cheers!

Not yet. I use ELRS for everything I build now, but I have way too many drones to go upgrade them all at once. CRSF gets the job done too.

This is truly an awesome idea. I truly truly hope this gets a lot of people into our hobby. In FPV I don't think that we can have too many people. I'm truly excited you're in Washington. I'm in Oregon. Just a hop skip away I must come check you folks out. I only season flyer but man would I love to see not only newbies get together but the community. Again what a great idea I hope you are successful.

for sure needs to be a whoop race championship racing series...... i wish i as closer i would be there weekly for races if it became a thing..... i know of a similar place in denver and they have races almost weekly..... changing the course layout a bit each week...... and im jealous of my friends that live local to it because they are out racing almost every weekend..... also a small shop/ workspace would be pretty awesome.... maybe some props and a few boards with a soldering station with a few tools needed to do on site repairs with out having to drag all your tools in with you ( i keep my tool bag seprate from my flight bag)

But, going every single weekend still wouldn't make a place like this survive! Getting people to fly there weekdays is a must! Plus, how ya gonna get around having only a max of 8 flying at once?

8 at once is ambitious with analog FPV indoors. When we race at Sumerian Brewery we run 4 pilots at a time. Of course, that's around a bunch of stainless steel equipment. Might be better for Emerald City Drones, but it's definitely going to be a challenge to be worked out.

@@KOrnhOliO1 yeah your right...... but the video didnt ask what is a business model..... what are some things you would like to see if you had a place like this near by...... races are normally run in heats..... normally 4 pilots at a time..... and they normaly have an entry fee.... while races on weekends wouldnt keep the place open..... if races became a know thing there it could for sure build up a reputation and build quite a following..... and weekend races could lead to anywhere to 20-60 people in there buying snacks and drinks..... possibly buying stuff to repair as well as buying fresh 1s lipos to have the best lipos possible for the fresh lipo advantage for racing...... i dont believe that races will keep the doors open by them selves but it would make for a good help in paying bills

They are tearing a mall down near my house. Sad. Those could be used for assisted living and Sr citizens. They are huge buildings. They could make a whole wing into an RC flying area. That would make a great FPV zone.

Walk in environment has to be inviting that's all it takes. My ama field was 8 guys that stared everyone down was like that for years. New president came in makes everyone feel welcome newbees don't feel dumb for asking questions and now the place is packed and I've become one of the people that stares people down :) jk kinda.

I have a Beta 95x v3 with the SMO 4k and I for the life of me can't get that thing to record video that is not just a Jello party.

I've had much better success with the V2 frame. V2 had a thick carbon core that was better at handling vibrations. V3 unfortunately has very thin carbon arms. Most of the structure of V3 is the hard plastic which resonates quite a bit. If can find a V2 frame, you could transfer the parts. Might work out better for you.

But, now think of how many people ride skateboards, then how many fly FPV. FPV is probably under 10% as many as skateboarders! I do not see a way for this to survive by making enough money.... 😭

Definitely, I tried looking at something like this in the UK, only way to make the numbers add up was to have this as a side opportunity on top of another successful business and right of the time and space as a money sink. This was due to the space required vs building and business rates could not get the numbers to work in an area where you would get good footfall to drive business growth. I hope they find a way for this to work.
