I can definitely see Gero attempting to overthrow Frieza eventually in this timeline for the conservation and betterment of Earth. I highly doubt Red Ribbon would be fine with Piccolo or Frieza having Earth and not them in the first place, so it could put into place further funding and research time into Gero building up the androids and Cell instead of scraping together in that cave. Plus then this Cell would be comprised entirely of Frieza and the force, hell if he is working directly for Frieza, he could also give Cell the powers of Ginyu.

Bulma is the most essential character in Dragon Ball, especially when it comes to plot and tech.

I definitely prefer the newer version, and if you ever feel like it, I think I'd like to see you explore how things unfold from here. One consideration to add, though: this still needs to be a reasonably successful manga by Akira Toriyama. ;) Personally, I like to think the events running parallel to Dragon Ball were a modest success. He'd planned on just ending things on a happy note, and move onto his next, similar series *but* someone said something to him (probably an editor), so instead of a happy ending... Demon King Piccolo happened. Which leads to a dark "ending" that is actually the beginning of his new, action-packed story about aliens! Oh, and have a happy birthday. Mine is later this year. But I'm finally turning 40... so I know how you feel. XD

I would definitely like to see a continuation, but of Goku going with Raditz to join up with the saiyans. No doubt, his youthful vigor and naivete would get the others saiyan blood rolling. Because he would push for them to train and fight more, to grow stronger.

I'd definitely be interested to see a continuation of this. There's still plenty of potential for interesting situations, with Goku having time to grow on Raditz, and Vegeta probably aiming his bullying towards the weaker Saiyan, netting him some nice zenkais pretty quickly, and all of a sudden having a massive goal to begin training eagerly towards. I think Goku's different kinds of smarts would kick in at some point with Frieza, getting the feeling that the tyrant would off them if he felt they started getting too strong too fast. Perhaps you could even bring back Bulma, and some of the others in some fashion, since Capsule Corp would be under Frieza, and I don't think she'd take too well to his Empire's way of doing things. Not to mention, without Goku's involvement, Dr. Gero wouldn't have such a vendetta against him, it could lead to a sort of "Dr. Gero Turns Good." (Oh, and the access to the advanced, alien tech would be a huge inspiration to Dr. Gero, and Bulma both. With how much more advanced the technology the Frieza Force has access to is, it's a testament to their Genius how we don't see anything else that can match up to their greatest creations throughout universe seven (time machine, and insanely powerful android/ bio-androids), even without ready access to the galaxies latest and greatest in space flight, computing, Scouters, and freaking healing pods) I like the idea of Raditz, Goku, Nappa, and (probably begrudgingly) Vegeta secretly training (and with a little help from Bulma, and Dr. Gero) plotting to overthrow the tyrant. tl;dr - Goku would gain strength because of zenkais, and training goals, pushing the other Saiyans to train, and Raditz would possibly bond with Goku. Alien tech would massively benefit the inventions of both Bulma, and Dr. Gero, both of whom wouldn't want to give Frieza all the best war-making tools they can develop, and they're smart enough to hide their full capabilities and lack of loyalty. Ultimately, they'd all end up somehow working together to try to take out Frieza.

*sees title* TFS Frieza: "I feel like we've been here before. Have we been here before?"

Honestly I was kinda expecting Bulma and Yamcha to still fall for each other and Yamcha ends up becoming the hero of Dragon Ball from then on out. But then I realised this was a one and done. Still, at least he lived and didn't end up up doing 'the pose'.

sooo, next episode is goku climbing the frieze force ranks with his gang: Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta until they have collectively grown powerful enough to overthrow frieza.

I don't remember the old version, but this one seems like a pretty good set-up to a very different course of events. Could the Saiyans eventually get strong enough to have a shot at Super Saiyan? Would anything exist that could serve as an impetus for the rage necessary to break into the form? Idk, but I suspect that this one could actually lead to a pretty different What-If, with some good side events focused around beating Freeza first, and then maybe having to play a LOT of catch-up when Buu eventually showed, since Babity would still come to earth to do that.

Oh, good one, but one thing I kinda think you skipped over and it could have been at least a nice addition, Roshi was not the strongest fighter in Earth by the time King Piccolo arrived, his rival had a very strong three-eyed pupil in training...

Do "What If Goku Never Came to Earth?" You could explore how Bulma would deal with Tights' death (no Goku means no Jaco to save Tights from exploding in space).

Kinda figured this would lead to a Dark ending Bulma is pretty much the reason Goku isn't basically a Caveman in the woods

I love how every what if seems so in character, you always tell such entertaining her believable stories

If I had a quarter for each time the Drgn Bals were used on a MasakoX's What Ifs, I would have 75 cents, which isn't much, but I'm surprised that gag has been used that many times.

Not a bad adaptation at all! It's weird to think Frieza's rule may make the Earth better off, but really there are MANY interesting ideas here! While improbable, the success of an adventure without Goku is a refreshing route, even if the cast may in some ways go farther with him. Separately, starting the series just before "Raditz showed up'(!) could tell a very different story with the same media. Raditz purged evil and took Goku on adventures, with elements like the truth of the Saiyans possibly coming later.

I like it so far. I hope you do a part 2 someday as that'll be like having a "What if Goku sided with Raditz?" series which just wouldn't happen otherwise. We've seen awesome What If... series for Raditz turning good and if he went to Earth instead of Goku, so this would finally drop the other shoe and explore what would have happened if Goku went with Raditz.

I love this short and Brief what if.

I just realized, this story didn't mention Red Ribbon army. They would have clashed against Demon King Piccolo. So now i want to see a What If arc featuring Red Ribbon Army as a variant of this story. Perhaps what if Red Ribbon became Earth's last line of defense? Red Ribbon commanders would fend off against DKP perhaps dr.gero would be crucial to overcoming the saiyan invasion and possibly Freeza Force.

So about that strawberry coupon... If bulma shows it to some shop keeper deep in space who sells all kinds of cosmic fruit but no strawberries, could she get the closest thing to strawberries that's in thay shop, or does it only work for Earth strawberries?

Honestly I would love to continue this into its own weird series. Especially since our favorite Pineapple man gets respect.

I like this versions more, but wouldn't the red ribbon army have made a wish at some point? Inconsequential as it may have been, I would also like to see a part two where Dr. Gero makes Androids (read: Cyborgs) to fight back against Freeza. I think it would be interesting to see them framed as the good guys, even Cell coming to free Earth from the tyranny of Freeza!

So basically Bulma not meeting Goku lead to her getting strawberries like she wanted, but later is under the ruling King Piccolo then Frieza good to know. At least here Goku know he has family in Raditz here and can get stronger with his new brother. Now you need an updated version of: What if Gohan was Earth's Hero? I liked it. I had an idea for part 2 where Goku and the other Saiyans could of went to Namek to grant Vegeta his immortality to take down Freeza, however Goku never learnt from Bulma what dragonballs are so nobody would of had a reason to go to Namek. So I guess Freeza rules up until Majin Buu might get released?

I think a really cool idea for a What If would be What If Kami Was The Dominant Personality In The Fusion Or potentially What If Nail Was The Dominant Personality In The Fusion for one with a bit more plot significance.

Might be kinda funny for Goku apply the training he got from Grandpa Gohan, and taking on Frieza, mostly for a challenge. This would also drag the Prince into his work (since Frieza probably wouldn't like it, and he wants to get out from under his thumb) along with Nappa and Raditz. Maybe Bulma ends up helping him, or something.

I feel like this could really be expanded upon beyond the ending here. How does Goku develop under Raditz's care? How do things develop when Vegeta and Nappa come into play? What would be the fall out when the Saiyans finally turn against Frieza, if it's not Frieza who does the turning first? How would Dr. Gero's technology impact the Frieza force? Would there be Androids? Would they eventually find out about the Dragon Balls from the still-alive Bulma and possibly head to Namek at some point, even if not at the same timing as the original story? If we follow the logic that Future Trunk's timeline remains unchanged, how would things play out when he shows up to an entirely different past? There's a LOT of questions that could be explored here that I would find highly interesting.

I wonder how long Goku's nature would have allowed him to remain idle in the forest. Maybe he would have reverted to some primordial Martial Arts legend imitating dinosaurs and lions to develop his own martial arts style, building off of what grandpa Gohan taught him. Turning into an ape every month would also be sure to cause some misadventure when he eventually breaks his little shed.

Honestly, there could be a sequel where Bulma and Doctor Gero work together to beat Frieza with an Android army. Or maybe Bulma builds a time machine to get the jump on Piccolo and Frieza.
