Considering her status as a Muggle-born, it seems highly unlikely the Death Eaters or Voldemort himself would’ve accepted Hermione even if she inexplicably *wanted* to join them.

I don't think this would have played out this way exactly because Snape would have found out she switched sides since he was already a double agent. There was no mention of that.

I think a better what if would be "What if Ron became a Death Eater?" In "The Deathly Hallows", it showed Ron being affected by the locket the most so, what if, after believing Hermione actually chose Harry instead of him, he ran out of the tent, found Voldemort and swore to help him kill Harry.

I’ve read some fanfics of Hermione becoming a Death Eater… disturbing stuff. In one Hermione and Viktor consumated their relationship and she became pregnant. Her parents forced her into an abortion and this tipped Hermione over the edge. Thus one of her initiations was torturing and killing her parents. Very disturbing.

There might have not been a Dumbledore's army in the first place, because that was also Hermione's doing

I've recently developed a very strong love for the idea of Dark Hermione, but in terms of her joining Voldemort and the Death Eaters, there really are certain criteria that that kind of story really has to meet for it to be believable. First and foremost, Voldemort is not stupid; he is definitely VERY aware of Hermione's talents and intellect, and is fully aware that without her, Harry would have died a THOUSAND times over. He probably wouldn't have even survived his first year at Hogwarts. So he knows better than to waste a resource/asset as valuable as Hermione Granger, but he would most definitely make her EARN it. He would more than likely put her through the worst "school of hard knocks" imaginable to make her prove herself worthy of being a Death Eater. But knowing Hermione like I think I do, I don't think there's any doubt that she would pass EVERY test he set in front of her with flying colors. Now as to WHY Hermione would join the Death Eaters, again, the reasons have to be believable, and there are two scenarios in particular that I find to be the most believable and, as such, these are the ones that seem to produce the best stories. These scenarios are A) some event occurs that pushes Hermione over the edge (examples might include her researching the Dark Arts in secret to try and help Harry, but becoming addicted to them in the process; she spends too much time wearing the locket on the Hunt and it corrupts her from within; or she suffers some kind of betrayal from her friends and/or loved ones that causes her to completely snap), or B) Voldemort WINS the final battle at Hogwarts and kills Harry and Hermione, being the pragmatist and survivor that she is, decides she's tired of fighting and/or being on the run and joins Voldemort so that she will have at least SOME guaranteed future where she'll still be alive, even if it is nothing like the future she was hoping for.

Hermione not only was a "mudblood", making it unlikely that Voldy would be interested in her, but also the other way around, she would not fall for a trick by someone whom she knew despised her. On top of this, she has a moral compass...and a good one too.

I would think Voldemort would have to need her so badly to even ask her or encourage her in any way to join simply because she is a mud blood that he would instantly make her very high up in the death eaters. Possibly even higher than lestrange. She would have to be everybody in the organization would hate her and certainly not respect her or her authority. He would almost have to make it like "if she tells you to do it it's like I'm telling you to do it. Or if she says it you need to act like it's coming from my lips."

Of the many, many things, what sticks out to me is that Harry wouldn’t have survived that Christmas in Godric's Hollow

One way I could see Hermione switching allegiances would be if she was under the Imperius curse. Just imagine if in Half Blood Prince, Draco after receiving his assignment to assassinate Dumbledore decided he needs someone with Hermione's brains to help him pull it off. So one day he hits her with the Imperius curse when she's alone like he did with Katie Bell. Under his influence he would then be able to use Hermione to help him kill Dumbledore. And once they succeed he convinces Voldemort to spare Hermione and bring her into their fold. Knowing how brilliant she is and what a valuable Death Eater she could be, Voldemort gives her the mark.

Voldy would definitely want a prize like Hermione, but he would sure make her earn it first.

Idea for a video… what if Harry Potter was set in 2022? The example that made me think of this was “Hermione needed the recipe for Polyjuice Potion, so she googled it on her iPhone 14 and watched an instructional video on RU-vid, meanwhile Ron looked down at his hand me down Nokia 3210 in frustration”.

She'd probably mess around with Voldermort like Snape did, and sneak hints to Harry so that Harry somehow always outsmarts Voldermort or have a lucky escape.

This would’ve made for a great and hardcore subplot. And if Voldemort were to gain the support of one of Harry’s friends, it would make sense that it would be her, as he looks for magical strength and intelligence, and with someone like Hermione, he would have groomed her to be his second in command. Would be like Willow Rosenberg from season 6 of Buffy. And what would happen if Voldemort never acted upon the prophecy concerning him and Harry?

Can do you a "What if Dumbledore never Died"

Two good questions you may have answered and I just haven’t seen the videos: 1. What if Ron got fed up with his family’s poverty and turned pro-pureblood? What if Hermione had been caught at one time or another when she broke school rules and been expelled? What would she have done within the wizarding world then? Gone to Beaubatons? Taught herself from books? Or perhaps stayed in the muggle world and become a dentist like her parents?

Feels like you should have put more into getting around her muggle-born status. Now beyond that it could actually be an interesting dark Hermione arc that she joins through coercion to protect her parents, but grows to become a magic supremist as she becomes enthralled by the Dark Arts. Honestly though given how much Pure Bloods hate the idea that being a witch or wizard (let a lone a strong one like her) is a random genetic mutation, if they did actually want to use her talents I wouldn't put it past some Death Eater fabricating their family tree to show her and the others, see you weren't actually a proper muggle-born your great great something was actually a disgraced member of our family who ran off with a muggle, and thus your magic gift is actually a blessing of superior pureblood re-exerting itself.

Herimone would be incredibly valuable to Voldemort. Something like Snape (if he hadn't switched sides). And with info about Harry probably more.

I do not think death eaters would even consider allowing Hermione in. But for her to join death eaters, DA was her idea so that would not be said to harry . Quidditch team would not be allowed to cut morale on him , Umbridge would be approached by her to join and prophecy theft would happen except getting them away from ministry would be done by side along apparition then she looks at prophecy

I fear for the fate of dumbledore's army members in this scenario, the list they signed their names on would become a kill list if Hermione handed it to VOLDEMORT.

Did Hermione find her parents after Voldemort's defeat? Could she somehow restore their memories? Is it theoretically even possible? What if she had previously created some 'backup drive' for their memories? Did Lockhart know how do to such kind of magic?

Also interesting would be: what if muggle borns with magical Potential wouldnt go to hogwards.

Even ignoring that Hermione is a muggle born and acknowledging that she has a little bit of a dark side this would just be too out of character for Hermione. We're talking about the founder of SPEW here. She would never join the Death Eaters

She would not have been on his radar until after the battle in the Department of Mysteries. Snape would have been told to stay Potions Master and would have made sure she got his old book. He would have had to have turned away from Dumbledore first for it to work. A year of grooming would have been necessary and would be irresistible to her. At the end of year six, she would have fled with Snape and would have been back at Hogwarts with Draco for year seven. She never would have gotten with Ron and would have shared the key Intel about Neville, or may have simply poisoned him. Ron too. Harry would be hiding out with Creature, stuck in ambiguity as the boy who hid. At some point, Belatrix would have gone to her house and killed him after torture first. Or worse, used a love potion to compromise him and let him do the rest. Of course, Hermione may have let Riddle in on the secret and would have simply recruited Harry rather be than trying to kill him.

There would be no stopping them. Defeat will be impossible. They we’re extremely intellegent, applied themselves to every subject, members of the Slug Club, prefects in their fifth year, started two powerfull societies DA and The Death Eaters, highest marks on their exams. She could be just under Bellatrix. She could even beat Harry easily. No need for a third wizzarding war because with Hermonie and Lord Voldermort, victory would just happen.

Pretty sure they'd never let her join even if she did turn evil. Death Eaters are all about pure blood extremism, and Hermione is muggle born. They would refuse her and kill her simply for that reason alone.

She could have also BETRAYED Vokdemort and NOT told him about that fact. With her power and Voldemort dead she could have likely LED the Death Eaters.

I don't think Voldemort would of EVER accepted Hermoine into his ranks, as a Death Eater, or anything else. He simply could of never trusted her.

I think I see the major flaw in this theory. Hermione was a muggle born. Death Eaters were pure blood supremacists. The others, Yaxley, Rowell, Avery, the Malfoys, and especially Bellatrix Lestrange would never, never have allowed this! The other flaw is that turning color is totally outside of Hermione's basic, fundamental nature. Comparing her to Fenrir Grayback is I think a complete red herring.

I think Dumbledore would know from Snape about Hermione switching to the dark side and if Harry died in book 6 he would give the task of destroying Voldemort to Snape.

If it had gotten to that point, where harry was dead, and dumbledore the only one capable of standing up to voldemort, i think he would have released grindlewald, but ising an unbreakable vow to ensure he would only attempt to bring down voldemort. Of course grindlewald being old and weak, would need time to recover his strength, but I think if dumbledore gave him the elder wand, which wpuld be a foolish thing to do if he didnt know grindlewald was also dying, and would need every advantage. I think grindlewald would be able to gather enough followers from Europe to fight voldemort after his takeover

I get that this is an alternative version of events, but it doesn't really make sense. Hermione is muggle born, so she would never be welcome among death eaters. Even half blood death eaters were viewed with disdain by the others.

Plz do what if Ron became a death eater

Seriously similar idea was bouncing in my head for last few weeks (All becouse I was messing recently with one of my lego shelfs (one with potter minifigs) and I put Belatrix like hair on hermione minifig)

Some of these what ifs are not plausible, like for instance after her parents were kidnapped that Hermione would change sides and believe in Voldy's cause. Not going to happen and she wouldn't give them any really useful information like taking Harry's blood protected him. Just not going to happen, at her first chance she'd betray Voldy.

I don't think Voldemort would recruit a Muggle-born to the Death Eater cause, no matter how desperate he was to kill Harry. Slytherin House itself only accepts "pure bloods" and "half bloods", and Voldemort represents the most extreme form of that ideology. I can see him abducting her parents and threatening to harm them if she didn't do his bidding, as you said; but that's not the same thing as *being* a Death Eater. You need to have the Mark to be a true Death Eater, and I see a 0% chance of Voldemort bestowing that blessing (in his mind) on a Muggle-born, no matter how much he required her services. Likewise, I don't see how Hermione could actively support an ideology and movement that seeks her annihilation. What would she think would happen to her once Voldemort won the Second Wizarding War? That she would be the *one* Muggle-born that he would spare? I just don't see it, but it was an interesting video nonetheless. Keep it up.
