fransheska V Religion just gives people purpose man. No religious book tells one to wage war on another religion thats a fact. Capitalism is greed, and greed is destroying the world. I dont want to resonate with any political ideology, but the one what seems like the only one that will sort all of our human issues out, is socialism. I dont mind giving some of my stuff if it means someone else who needs it can be that little bit more comfortable. If we want interstellar travel, we need socialism bro.

First, it would depend on the size of the asteroid, and secondly, preset machines or technology to determine the Earth's movement would be easier to power than to destroy an asteroid that could be the size of the earth itself.
Yeah it just wouldn’t be logical to be a carbon based life form that is prone to disease and aging. Its honestly hard to imagine humanity will even still exist vs robots
Emotionless, soulless entities? Some beings just too arrogant that they forgot who they once were and it takes another being to slap some sense back into them.
Everything we dream off, it's waiting in our future. Truly, at science's pace today, we'll be able to do many of these things. But our biggest obstacle it's ourselves. How sad is that? It's a nice metaphor for life too.
Appreciate that you are teaching about the Kardashev Scale, but a few corrections: Power is measured in watts, or joules/second, not watts/second. Also the sun produces 384.6 septillion watts, not 38,000 septillion. And as people have stated, the best way to avoid an asteroid impact is neither to disintegrate it, move the planet, or evacuate the planet, but rather to redirect it or mine it. For a Type II Civ, an asteroid is free money. A nearby black hole by itself is no more an existential threat than a star of equivalent mass. It could even be safer because it can't go supernova and doesn't give off harmful radiation (by itself), though an accretion disk could give off radiation. When Dyson introduced the concept of a Dyson Sphere, he was thinking of a swarm of orbiting constructs that get built up over time. As such, it isn't necessarily a single entity. It also makes no claims about storing or transmitting energy at maximum efficiency. A simple implementation is just a bunch of solar panels or mirror collectors.
For me, type 6 would be gods, and type 7 would be God itself (omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient), existing just one being in this scale, the Perfect One. Ps: I am aghnostic, so i'm talking about gods or God differently from the concept of any religion.
@Prayag Dhakal emotion plays a huge part into politics. If it didn't we would be more concerned with numbers. How many people actually... how many more ..... survey and experiment like we do anything else.
The only thing holding us back is the government and politics. Not sorry to say this but we will never reach a future where the everyone eats for free and we are all healthy and safe.

I think that once type 2 has been achieved, it would not take long until type 3 will be achieved as well, since I can only imagine a type 2 having reached technological singularity already. So we either fuse with artificiality, or they will consume us and we will be the ancestors of that type 2 civilisation.
This might sound a little crazy, but... what if a civilization found an alternative means of fueling their expansion, something hitherto unknown which is neither matter nor energy, but which makes the control & production of both a moot point?
In an essence we are already approaching to type 1 civilization. We are already developing planetary instant communication - the internet, developing global culture - pop music, movies, global language - english, global government - united nation, abd even global economics - stock market., however that .3 we needed to achieve and be fully integrated as a type 1 is the most crucial part. We need to be able to develop a better sense of living in a way it doesnt exploits, further helps preserve this planet (since we do not have interstellar capability yet) and not being driven with greed. Global understanding - our philosophies, religion, and respective belief though its diverse but that as well i believe makes us divided. If we can work our way to mutual understanding moving past beyond our own biases there is hope to humanity and hope towards achieving type 1 civilization. If we don't we can join our predecessors who came before us like egyptian, roman, and all other civilization that has fallen only remnants of their monuments like ruins of our cities to be studied by alien archeologist in the future.
Well you can achive typ 2 by harvesting %5 of the energy from 20 stars that has the same averge energy output as our sun, does not have to be 100% of the energy from our sun. So that makes it alot easier to achive. same way as when we finally get to type 1 we have probably already colonized part of our solar system.
The closest star to us that is not the sun is 4.3 light years and has halve the output of the sun our ship don't go at the speed of sound let alone the speed of light we would probably go extinct if we thought as stupidity as you
@@boitumelonoge9615 it's not stupid, he's right we're investing a bit more into solar and other renewable energy sources witch will bring us closer to a type one civilization a bit faster, and we're planning to colonizing the moon and Mars within a decade, witch will make us a type two civilization depending on how close we are to type one is by that time
A Dyson Sphere, has never meant spear. It is more of a swarm of energy collector, and it isn't a mystery how to make one. It is just a huge engineering project.
It's bullshit, the sun is to say the least unimaginabley LARGE Building something around it is twak , not enuff material around to construct it, in our part of the galaxy
@@CARBON10 That depends on what you are building around it. If you want to build thin mirrors, mercury has more then enough material to do the job. A more substantial constructions would require a lot more. The best source of materials would be from the sun itself.
Na mate, I don't want to be rude in any way, but realistically the sun is massive , building something around it is insanely ludicrous, really really nut ball fantasy dream nonsense, there are many many ways to obtain power, never mind lying on the beach here on earth you can burn badly so you would have to build so far out it would be double the size of the sun therefore it's absolutely mind numbingly dumb
Utilizing material from the sun itself, yea right! Remember how hot it is, and what are you going to catch , plasma?, Light? No offense, but na to large of a project, and don't even consider the dollars, I have to say it again , its the best dumb idea ever imagined in the history of the cosmos, even god got a laugh out of that one, gees man
@@CARBON10 It doesn't have to happen all at once, and could take place over centuries and millennia. It's not like it'd be one big project we'd start on hoping to finish in 20 years.
Alex Hein You do realizy Tesla has a full autonomous vehicle by end 2020 and it’s electric? That’s one company and many will follow, plus we now have AI reusable rockets. We can send everything to space or to orbit saving money for other stuff
@@Solid_Snake99 we are talking about utilization of energy here..if we're still paying expensive electric bills every month just because we use the aircond 24/7, soo..nahhhhh..
We can't even imagine the technology we'll have in 10,000 years. I still find it crazy that humans were put on this planet with soil, metal, dust and some other stuff, but we created internet and went on the moon. Like how.
We can climb up towards the upper tiers of Kardashev Scale only if we used our Human Intelligence and resources having the same vision, goal, passion and purpose. Our destiny and is powerful beyond description but greedy and selfish minds are delaying our progress.
Our earth is 4.5 billion years old we were created 1 lakh year before and the modern human came to role between 2000 to 3000 years and now within only 2000 years we are able to harness nearly all the power from earth ...think what can we do in next 5000 years if we survived and don't destroy our own planet ...Today being type 2 civilization seems impossible but in my opinion if we humans survive 5000 to 6000 years more we can surely be a type 2 civilization 🙏
Do you think humans will ever become a Type 2 Civilization? Check out our clip on the Kardashev Type 5 Civilization, here --> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DGB7hPX0wc0.html
The real problem with this scale is Type 2. The amount of energy is not consistent, some starts put out a lot less energy than we currently produce, some so much more it's quite crazy to even think about it.

Wild all these are based in greed and not efficiency, skill or even need. It’s just about taking all of the new commodity you’ve found. Classic western civilization.
You know, you had me until you said humanity is at a .7 ...no way we haven't even stop using coal and oil . And we are no where near a Dyson spear or harnessing the full power of the sun . Half humanity doesn't even have solar panels let alone afford them
These categories seem all wrong and misdirected to me. If we learn to harness the energy of the vacuum, we will have access to all the energy we will ever need.
Consumerism, is one of the biggest threats. It is a way of life that is incredible taxing on resources and energy. There was a time before consumerism, when you bought a TV, clothes, or other stuff and used it for years. Today it seems some people buy new clothes every month, a new TV every year. While most things can be recycled there needs to be ENERGY to do that recycling, and to create new products as well. Lets save the consumerist shit for when we have the energy to actually do so. Only reason we haven't destroyed ourselves is only 30% of the population actually lives this lifestyle. Most the worlds population cant afford such things. But when the majority of humans can suddenly afford to spend like Americans, that is when we will be in real trouble. We are already seeing environmental devastation from China as that country transitions into a western way of life, without the means to generate the energy that is actually needed.
If the people reading this comment liked the video and the idea of a solar system spanning civilization, I recommend reading The Expanse novels or watching the show on Amazon Prime. Really cool stuff to think about.
I like the optimism of the Japanese physicist, who thinks we'll manage to fully be a type I civilization in around 100 years. It makes me think of people in the 60s who imagined our years to be full with flying cars and devoid of cancer or other diseases, when in fact we're here distrusting science and not believing doctors, questioning the form of Earth and eating up every conspiracy theory largely proven wrong.
Chris Lecky I used a solar panel once to collect photons from a light bulb, i used it to run an electric motor, that motor could then also be used in turn to generation electricity. This is also an example of how are planet used and recycles energy and overall it creates a far less wasteful dynamic system. So i can be done with modern technology if we follow the example the planet has given.
Not gonna lie, I see a lot of the hurdles in our way stemming from the previous 2 generations. Why are we still worried about this old noise?? Bitch, I want to see space before I die. Quit fighting over the resources on this dumb beautiful planet and look toward expanding across the galaxy for unlimited, exotic resources. I want my private space pod so I can gaze into the void
We would reach type 2 before even coming close to achieving type 1. Once we have reliable transportation to space it is much, much easier and cheaper to build out there than to coax building materials out of the Earth. A single asteroid the size of a mountain can have enough material to sustain billions of lives. Especially since valuable and useful minerals are much more common in space (on Earth, they tend to sink towards the core over time since they are usually heavy).
I'm having a problem with the Kardashev scale. At type 1 we would harness all the power of the earth thru solar, wind ,etc. This assumes there is nothing new to discover. Imagine trying to explain nuclear power to a person in the 1920's. Or even solar power to a person in the 1940's. What I'm saying is there could be an energy breakthrough we can't even imagine.
Yes we are going through cycles, but each cycle gets bigger and faster with each turning. And that is whats so exhilarating or terrifying. The upturns have more oomph but so do the downturns
We are to naive to become a type 1 civilization without a power struggle, we are still a young civilization, usually a species lives out about 300,000 years and we barely scratch 1/8th of that amount of time. I think the fact that there are individuals out there who ensure people don't get educated to easily manipulate them is the reason we are so far behind, because we let greedy and other worldly aspirations hold us back from our full potential. We are so primitive if you think about it, we survive by burning dead animals and decaying elements, I believe somewhere along the lines we were given an opportunity to live to be studied, so that another civilization can understand what life is. We are but Pandoras box slightly cracked, these worldly wants only shows everything around us that we aren't concious enough to conjure a thought worth noting, like chimpanzees at the zoo throwing shit at each other, I mean if we were not locked to this planet we probably wouldn't throw shit at each other, but this planets just getting to overpopulated and there isnt enough resources left for me or you, the destruction we cause will push us to advance or become instinct and we'll do things that are borderline immoral, fuse with nanites, so they may repair our broken cells and keep us from getting cancer while traveling through hyperspace, if we didn't have the leaders set in place we did throughout the Millennia we probably would've been way more advanced by now, that's for sure.

Dyson sphere or swarm more specifically (sphere would be stupid and not really viable) is not really an "somehow" concept. Pretty much best way to collect and direct energy from sun is with mirrors, even with advancements in technology. Not to mention if you are actually going to collect energy at that scale, simpler the solution, better it is. For example if at some point we have massive population needing a lot of space, you could have swarm of habitats orbiting sun, and for each of those habitats you have swarm of mirrors direction energy to it. You could also use mirrors for pushing spaceships or directing energy to pretty much anywhere in solar system, some losses you have from scattering of the beams would be negligible at that scale. Also, moving or evacuating earth for some collision is totally ridiculous. It's much, *much* easier to deal with whatever is coming towards earth. Evacuation without space elevators just wouldn't happen and with space elevators it could take decades. Time I could see us moving Earth is when our sun expands, to preserve our birthplace. Another also, having type two civilization is not an requirement for expanding into galaxy. I'm pretty sure we would have already have explored enormous amount of space before then. Sun is *massive* taking advantage of it's energy even with advanced AI and manufacturing would probably take thousands of years even if went at it full speed. I mean we are not even close to type one yet, earth receives thousands of times more energy from sun than what we actually use.
A type 2 civilization has to be *CAPABLE* of using all the energy from its star. It doesn't mean they WOULD do any of those things. That is the case for the other levels on the k-scale.
i just want to say that there are people to this day that believe the earth is flat !!! let that sink for a moment than lets evaluate what type of civilization is humanity right now.
@unveiled judging by the troublesome causes in our world today and also the conflicts in the past i have lost hope in humanity to even barely reach a type 1 civilization
Unveiled a dyson sphere is not a soled singular structure ,the original "and more realistic " idea was for a massive swarm solar collectors and space habitats surrounding a star.
