What if Naruto in this series taught Sasuke and Sakura the tree walking and water walking to help build teamwork. Thus they could become stronger as a team so in the eyes of Kakashi and the 3rd be ready as a team to handle C rank mission's instead of D's

i want to think that in this timeline naruto seeing how good teamwork is, he tries to talk to kuruma more so he can actually use the 9 tails power edit: i should probably add before the end of the series

Since the whole point of why Sasuke fought Naruto on top of the Hospital was because of Sasuke's inferiority complex and his fear of Naruto constantly surpassing him and making him feel irrelevant is not in this what if scenario rather it's in reverse and Sasuke has a reasonable goal to keep up or even surpass Naruto this time around. The animosity between them wouldn't be as heated in the original timeline. Which also allows Sakura room for character growth as well. Seeing as Naruto is the superior genin both Sasuke and Sakura can act as immediate rivals to improve themselves so Sakura isn't shifted into the background as a stock character until she becomes useful and learns something convenient for one specific moment.

I say stick with cannon events with some change's I think that it would be a bit of a good show for Naruto's and Sasuke's mindset. because as you said Naruto is already use to D-ranks but sasuke and sakura would have a bit of a wake up call thanks to it, with Sasuke being more frustrated thanks to Naruto not really being bothered by what amounts to chores and sakura being a passive following every word he or their sensei says. theres also the fact that the waves helped the team mature, while Naruto maybe a fair bit more mature in this timeline he and his team still has problems and the wave arc in cannon was the perfect way to kick start that growing process. so yeah my vote go to the waves and have Naruto wonder if Haku was a girl or not.
