What If Mythical Pokemon Had CANON Abilities? 

Happy JPR Friday!! What abilities would you give to Mythical Pokemon?

I would personally give Zarude an ability called Parental Rage.Any time an ally is knocked out,it’s attack doubles at the cost of doing recoil damage for three turns

I think Trace would be an interesting ability for Mew

Since Protean was nerfed in gen 9, Arceus should have the unnerfed protean as a hidden ability. Silvally could have the nerfed protean to further link the two.

for "super flower veil", we could call that Grateful Guard or something like that since Shaymin is the Gratitude Pokémon could also call Mood Swing something music-ish. Maybe Key-Change or Modulation

I honestly hate how much pressure was spread around early on. It cost many legendaries & mythicals good abilities.

I think "Tempo Shift" would be a better name for the Meloetta ability.

For Volcanion there’s an insanely obvious option, Steam Engine. It just works too well. Also Protean Deoxys, if it can modify its cells to change form, changing type should be really easy.

I agree with giving Keldeo the Sharpness ability in its Resolute Form. It gives players a reason to choose between its forms. Sharpness is an ability that should be given to, among others, the Swords of Justice trio. Your idea for a signature ability for Meloetta was clever. I would've made it have Punk Rock in its Aria Form and Dancer in its Pirouette Form. For Zarude, I'd consider giving it either Triage or a Grass-type version of Gale Wings. Either of these options would make Jungle Healing a priority move.

For Deoxys, why not make an ability that allows it to switch forms during battle like Aegislash?

I think Hoopa's ability should be a powered up magician where its moves always have the Knock Off effect (and if Hoopa is not holding an item, it steals the item from the opponent)

Another potential Ability for Arceus could be it's own version of Protean/Libero. Kinda like how it worked in Legends Arceus with the Legend Plate, where its Judgement would always change to the type that is super effective against the opponent

I always wanted deoxys to have a form change in battle like aegislash. Protect, any any defense/healing type move turns it to defense, an attack move turns it to attack form, speed form if you use double team or a speed increasing move, and normal if you use a normal or fighting type move. But giving it regenerator would be a cool idea. Realistically, it should have both.

Deoxys needs a new unique ability called Genetic Shift or something, it's like Aegislash's ability, but for all four forms of Deoxys. Any offensive move would change it to Attack form, any defensive status moves like Iron Defense, Detect, Wide Guard etc. would change it to Defense. Any offensive status moves or priority moves, so things like Thunder Wave or Extreme Speed, would change it to Speed form. It would always start battles in normal form.

Maybe Hoopa Unbound should have an ability where it would take the oppenents positive stat changes for itself. Hoopa unboind is said to be greedy, so let it take the stats of it opponents. I would call it Avarice Hold.

If we where to give Arceus more of a canonical ability like we see in the anime specials and movie, it would be pretty much like having the Legend Plate from Legends: Arceus but you'll be able to choose which type to change into. Would be the perfect OP ability for the Pokemon God.

I was thinking Multitype cold be buffed so that it gives Arceus a different additional ability depending on what plate Arceus is holding..... so Flame Plate equals the Flame Body ability, Spookey Plate is cursed body, Grass Plate is regenerator, feel free to think of more if you want. This way we can kinda do the whole "every ability in one" deal, but have it more balanced and maybe give some verity in what people may want an Arceus for (while still telegraphing what you are doing with it because of the color/form change.

Genesect ability would be extremely broken. Not only it would be able to hit 10 different types for super effective damage with a single move, but it would also be nearly impossible to switch into it since fire water ice and electric compliment each other really well. I don't think there's a type combination that resists all those 4 types, meaning that at the very least you're hitting everything for neutral damage. One way I thought to balance this move would be like this: The move's type will not change if the opponent switches out on that turn, for example if you were against a water type techno blast would be electric type, but if your opponent switches into a ground type in that turn the move would still be electric type that turn giving more opportunities of a safe switch. Another good way to balance it would be that the move would keep the first type it had until you switch out, so if the first technoblast you use is ice type, it would remain ice type until you switched out, and it would only be able to change to a new type if you switched out and later sent it back out again and used the move

I like to think the pokemon you didn't ability change just going "you made us wait here just to say your good, thank you for your time?" And they take all the complimentary snacks and kick a chair as they leave

I actually thing protean works better for mew than magic bounce, because it’s whole gimmick is that it learns all tms in every game it’s in. Now it gets stab on all those moves.

I think Stance change would be perhaps the best ability for Deoxys if the trigger would revolve around any singular stat boosting move

You should do one for the Ultra Beasts. Maybe give Blacephalon magic-bounce like it's juggling the opponents status moves back at them. Obviously Guzzlord would either get gluttony or thick fat I feel Celesteela could be light metal since it's made of thin sheets and can fy despite it's insanely high bas weight or give it flare boost since it relies on rocket propulsion. Volt absorb for Xurkitree and maybe levitate or adaptability for Nihilego. Or just make up some stuff, it'd be YOUR video after all :)

I would honestly give Deoxys the ability "Stance Change" from Aegislash. You could probably just change the name to "Form Change" or something, but yeah, would be a broken ability for him.

I would give Jirachi an ability called "Wish Granter", which makes wishing moves immediately happen or not damage the user, yes this would only affect Wish and Doom Desire making it happen in the same turn and healing wish not fainting the user, but to make it not that broken it would affect every pokemon in the field as long as Jirachi is in the field. And by the way I would change Arceus multitype ability to make Judgement work like in the LA game, because it's cool

With Hoopa, it could be cool to see an ability that swaps the position of hazard when it switches in, referring how it can move stuff around with its rings

Nice Vid Mate! In pokemon unbound (A great rom hack I highly recommend) Hoopa confined form has the hidden ability Prankster, which makes a ton of sense considering it's lore and movie. It also actually gives you any reason to use it's confined form over it's superior unbound form. However, Hoopa unbound form has a new hidden ability called Portal Power. Portal Power is a ability that slightly rediced the power of non contact moves by 25%, basically filter but for all non contact moves. It makes since and wouldn't be too broken because still one super powerful phyisical move brings hoopa down to it's knees. But ye Magician still works, I just wish it was buffed

The Deoxys in Destiny Deoxys was using the move Recover when it regenerated.

Deoxys Speed and Defense getting regenerator would be insane

Volcanion could have ‘Steam Absorb’ which would be a mix between Water Absorb and Flash Fire, so if it’s hit by a water or fire move it will heal health and get a Sp Ark boost

You know what would make Regigigas great, give it the ability to ignore resistances and weaknesses.

I think Protean fits Mew better than Synchronize and Synchronize fits better than Magic Bounce (the "bubble" is supposed to just be the move Safeguard). Protean Mew would be pretty busted though, even after the Protean nerf, so I think Synchronize can stay.

Fling on Hoopa to use the Magician ability is a pretty fun combo that lets you get rid of sashes, scarfs, leftovers, and assault vest while turning them in attacks and if you're lucky to snag something that gives a secondary effect even better!

I will say, Time Control wouldn't really be fitting for Celebi as it doesn't in any way control time, it can only travel through time. (And the Time Ripple from the Zoroark movie can grant a person the ability to see the future, but that's not an ability of Celebi)

Mew could also have Color Change or Protean as the phantom Pokémon and ancestor of all Pokémon. Deoxys could have Stance Change to give it more balanced stats and remain viable.

It would be fun if Mew had an ability that made Transform not garbage. Like letting mew have higher stats while transformed or having more pp than 5 per move

If Techno Blast could hit for any of its 4 drive types, nothing resists the attack. Only thing keeping you safe is it not receiving STAB. Maybe 100 would be fine since no extra affect and replacing Download. This could be implemented as an alternate ability via a device or returning the move to 85 power and making this its secondary affect.

Imagine if Arceus had its Conquest ability Omnipotent which allows it to hit all types for at least neutral damage with Judgement, heals a good chunk every turn, and has a chance to randomly dodge an incoming attack Instantly AG

for Deoxys, I'd probably give it unique abilities based on it's forms, Regenerator is fine for normal form, but maybe give it a Defence Boost ability for the Attack form, a Speed Boost ability for the Defence form and an Attack Boost ability for the Speed form, just to balance their stats out better without them being too OP

In my fakemon region I'm making the creation trio into the creation quartet. Apria, the pokemon that rules over gravity. It's named after Apricosin, another name for lemon quartz. I have an unnamed ability for it that sets gravity when it enters the battlefield but also gives itself levitate. It is also immune to gravity altering moves as it's the creator of gravity. Still debating myself if the levitate thing should apply to allies as well, but probably not. Also as part of this mon joining the crew, I'm adding lore that the lake trio were literally made from the 3 good pokemon of the creation quartet. Azelf comes from Dialga, Mesprit comes from Palkia, and Uxie comes from Apria.

Meloetta’s could be called tempo shift or something like that

This is a really cool premise! Looking forward to a potential follow up about Legendaries (unless there was a prequel I missed?). Dialga and Palkia having pressure is... underwhelming

I would 100% give Omnipotent to Arceus from Conquest, in the current "Power Sprint" of new pokemon in every new gen *looks at paradoxes and several other paldaen mons* its honestly balanced

Marshadow should have a version of Dancer but for contact moves. That’ll be fun to deal with.

Hoopa should have a Hidden Ability similar to No Guard but against the opponent only to connect back to its ability to travel through dimension, bypassing any accuracy check, ignore stats changes and defensive moves like Protect/Detect. Let's call it Hyperspace as a reference to its two signature moves. Seems broken but it's a mythical, let it be strong. Also Arceus should have a Hidden Ability too. Maybe call it the Creator and its effect could be similar to Power Construct so whenever Arceus is below 50%; or if it gets hit by a super effective, 100% hit move (Fighting); its similar to the Legend Plate but more defensive; it just changes Arceus' type to reduce that damage. It should also work on other moves like Grasswhistle if switches to Grass for that move to be unaffected by the hit. Now maybe it could remove the 50% requirement but then Arceus would be unstoppable with Sword Dance-Earthquake spam but yea.

Analytic works when the opponent switches. So it's not as bad as one might think on a fast pokemon

In the Smogon NatDex format, Deoxys-A and Deoxys-N are both in Ubers while Deoxys-D is all the way down in RUBL (being too strong for RU, but not used enough in UU to be considered in the tier). So an ability that mainly buffs Deoxys-D while not breaking Deoxys-A or Deoxys-N would actually be perfect. The only issue then is Deoxys-S also being in Ubers while being at least tanky enough to make good use out of Regenerator. But considering how Deoxys-S's main niche is sending out hazards then sending itself into the Shadow Realm, I don't thing Regen would be _too_ big of a hassle for the tier.

If Keldeo ever got Wave Crash, JPR might have to nerf Water Glide the same way GF nerfed Gale Wings. With Meloetta, I think something like Aegislash's ability, but when using/not using a sound move. With Marshadow, if you wanted to keep the idea of it attacking back at the opponent, maybe combine Analytic and Stall, and lower the power of Analytic's boost

The genesect ability would be sweet, and could possibly tie it into a.I. Scanning the opponents weakness and then changing the attacks move.

alot of these were okay but i think friend guard on zarude is definitely the worst one of all of them. i would have given it Tough Claws which can reference the "survival of the fittest" mentality from the movie. he also is a physical attacker and it fits way better than friend guard

Arceus changes type to resist or gain immunity to an attack that's about to hit it.

Deoxys. Most Might be broken but used to be best in these categories in past generations so i aim to bring back that power. Except With normal. It's...there. Normal. Malleable Body. Recover 75 percent of max health and recover from any status ailment before taking damage from any source. Attack. Ultimate Offensive. A mixed ability . Old Protean, Adaptability and a version of Sheer Force that effects ANY move with a secondary effect, not just moves that inflict status. So no down side to spamming Psycho Boost. But this also means it cant use priority moves as intended. Defense. Ultimate Defense. Combination. , Filter , Clear Body and a Suction Cups. Speed. Unparalleled speed. Combination Maximizes speed when ever on field , which cannot be lowerd or stolen. Put on Queenly Majesty to prevent priority. Also, Priority moves IT uses ingore abilities and terrain effects. Bonus effects for/if vgc, viability: Attack: Power Spot Deffense: Friend Guard Speed: permanent Tailwind as long as it's on the field. Darkrai. Current ability is fine but id add on. Pokemon that fall asleep while this ability is on the field are immediately inflicted with the Nightmare condition . MAYBE: moves that this pokemon uses that inflict sleep gain 20 percent accuracy.

Bro,technoblast is not an ability. Genesects ability is Download,which is one of the best abilities in the game.

What if Mew were to have an ability like protean? It would make sense for it to be able to change its type to reflect its genetics and its massive movepool.

Why not give Mew Illusion, since it was constantly shown in the Tree of Life movie disguising itself as other pokemon. You could even explain it away in the first movie since it was constantly disappearing around people

I think having a moveset steal for mew as an ability would be cool. At the Start of the battle you steal your opponent’s moves and it resets every time you switch out

The way I see Victini is less giving a direct power boost and more raising confidence which allows the pokémon to hit harder, so I would give it an ability that raises allies' Critical Hit rate by two ranks. Zeraora having Volt Absorb is important because it interacts well with the effect of its signature move; so if I had to change it, I'd simply give it a Physical version of Lightning Rod.

The Meloetta change sounds pretty good to me. I've always wanted to use her but...she's bad and mixed attackers can work in comp

I would give Celebi the ability to revive once with the same amount of health it had pre k.o. but you have to switch. Like a defensive volt switch +Revival blessing. Maybe call it Paradox Arceus would get a combo of Multitype+ a Randomiser. While Arceuse would stay type of its judgment plate its other ability would change randomly after every couple of turns(within 2-5)

For Deoxys, Protean could work. Either that or an original ability version of Analyse where, when it’s sent out, it’s form changes to counter the opponent’s lowest stat.

If you give Arceus all abilities, would it actually not be as viable since it'll also have Slow Start and Truant? Defeatist and Emergency Exit aren't as breaking since it can recover.

For mew how about an ability called root of origin which gives it stab on all types

Deoxys : Form Change (like Stance change) ​When Deoxys uses attacks, it will be attack type & when Deoxys uses status moves, it will be Defense type & Deoxys starts as Normal forme. Speed forme in unwanted. Deoxys is DNA Pokemon, which means Defense / Normal / Attack Pokemon. It doesn't have Speed in it...

Hoopa should change. When it cannot steal an item due to already having one, it should instead act as Knock Off, so you still disable items with it.

Why didn’t you give Mew illusion since it functions the same as imposter but just takes the appearance of the enemy Pokémon not his stats

Celebi is a time traveler, giving it Time Control ability wouldnt make sense Its ability should make 2 turn moves only takes 1 turn. I dont think this ability exist, I could be wrong

Actually analytic also works if your opponent switches out, so it might work for marshadow's great attack stat and strong STAB moves
