The scenario itself is massive and spans all over the globe. Of course that would require 30-40 minutes to do so. So this is kind of an unofficial "Part 1", if people enjoy it, I'll flesh out the scenario more in later videos.

English isn't the 3rd most spoken, it's the 3rd most spoken when only considering native speakers. When you consider non-native speakers English is actually the most spoken language. The two languages above it, "Chinese" and Spanish, don't have all that much non-native support. (Chinese in quotes because the stats sites combine all the different Chinese languages, but that's a complicated matter better left up to language experts like Xidnaf)

You should have covered the fate of India, since the Indian colony was a significant chunk of wealth for the British Empire. If an independent country had risen there long ago, it would have significantly affected geopolitics of the time.

At the beginning of the video I was excited since you said you were also considering the Dutch. Yet, you never mention them again. I think you underestimate the potential of the Dutch Provinces, since they too were in constant naval conflict with the English. It took the combined forces of French, English, and the strongest German states to knock them off the podium. This isn't just a Dutch person rambling. I love your scenarios to death, but I think you missed a potentially diverse one here.

This massively assumed the US was the most important colony of the british empire which I hate to break it to you it wasn't. The gem of the empire was india not america.

Without the British Empire, I believe the Danish Empire would have dominated more of the Caribbean, Africa, India, and the East Indies than it historically did. Without a growing British threat, and without the need to sell its colonies to Britain and America, Denmark would have become an interesting colonial power.

so for the people who want to know about outside of New France: Australia, New Zealand, and the entire island of New Guinea would become dutch Guyana would probably get divided between Brazil and Venezuela Alaska would be part of Russia Mexico would be over twice its size most of Africa would be french and spanish most of south Asia would be french India/Pakistan would be portuguese and french the middle east would be part of the Ottoman empire and aboriginals wouldn't have to go through over a century of literal torture

You forgot to mention that slavery would still be common place & accepted today. The British never put a stop to the Atlantic slave trade meaning Africa's Economy (which relied on the trade) wasn't decimated meaning that Africa wouldn't be so easily colonised & would probably be a world power to rival Europe today.

This was a good video, but I had wished you had gone into more detail about places and events outside of America.

I feel like this skips over a few things, such as no French revolution, meaning no Spanish loss of colonies. Or England not taking the Dutch colonies, so they might have had a greater influence in North America and South America. Also no British empire, means no British India, which means we could end-up in a situation where India is split between France, Portugal and the Dutch, in a situation similar to the race for Africa.

Spain decline has more to due with being at continuous Wars against France, the Protestants, and the Ottoman Empire, which drained it's silver in payments for it's soldiers, since a good chunk of them were mercenaries. The modern concept of debt didn't had arise around the XVI and XVII centuries in Spain, and would only develop by it's former rebels, the Dutch.

Dig this, but it seems to ignore that the culture of New France/Acadia very rapidly diverged from the replication of French/Bourbon absolutist monarchism (I feel Colin Woodard's "American Nations" provides a concise and effective summary). I'm thinking for that reason, it is likely that an American revolution still occurs, however it is a rebellion of the Accadians (including my own ancestors) in alliance with the Iroquois and/or Algonquin populations that they were growing closer to culturally against the French crown. Does this then lead Imperial France to shift their attention to the east? Does the French revolution ever occur? I think this is some really fertile ground, and am enjoying working my way through your back catalog. Thank you. P.S. I'd also be interested in a variant scenario where the Spanish Armada defeated the British in 1588.

You forget one of the biggest factors! INDIA if British wouldn’t conquer, today there would be 100-150 different countries instead of India 🇮🇳 , Pakistan 🇵🇰 and Bangladesh 🇧🇩 ( 100 countries because almost every city was administered by different kings.) MONARCHY WOULD BE VERY POPULAR EVEN TODAY!
