Fun fact - most of the lyrics in elden ring songs are actually computer-generated gibberish. I almost forgot to ask, but do you still plan on doing the songs you said you were planning on doing for 2022? Because I was really excited for some of the ones you had listed
@@shadowzalucha I'd like to get as many as I can! These videos are gonna be a little more sporadic going forward as I often have other composing gigs too. So I'm hoping to balance the backlog of ideas with the newer OSTs that might be on people's minds when I get around to doing more covers. I'm also encouraging others to pick up the mantle and try to beat me to it!
@@GeoffPlaysGuitar While I'm sad these videos will be less common, I'm glad you're getting some professional recognition for your work man. The Viscerafest ost kicked all kinds of ass. Looking forward to seeing where else you end up!
@@GeoffPlaysGuitar He got one thing wrong tho, the tarnished aren't Godfreys descendants. they are his followers and fellow tarnished, but not related to him
I'm working on a long Elden Ring essay and I wanted to know if I could use a fragment of this song, with all due credit given. This song goes so insanely hard that it makes me want to reestructure the script just to fit it in. God I love this.
This entire video is a massive meme. I love it. I'm not sure if it'd even be necessary, but I think it'd be really cool if you covered Hell March from Command and Conquer in the Argent style! You can make anything metal, but can you make metal more metal?
If you did the whole OST like this I would try and get someone to mod it into the game; Elden Ring with this version of the music in the game would absolutely SLAP
@@AluminumHaste honestly man I'm a console player so for the mod itself I wouldn't pay. But if he made the tracks available outside of the mod I'd be down for that. I'd throw some cash for that for sure. :)
Never stop doing the explanation section of these videos. Hearing about the progress you go through crafting these transformations is very informative as someone recently getting into the musical scene.
I'm a sucker for lore, and I gotta say, Dan's explanation of the lore is spot on. Also, it's been too long!!! 😁😁😁 Disclaimer: my reference to the lore is a joke (just for those who didn't pick it up at first).
yeah he didn't address the one who set everything in motion: Ranni. Also Marika exiled Godfrey herself, though apparently with the plan for them to return eventually. It wasn't really the tree having a will of its own. It's not really clear whether it has a will of its own, as the Greater Will abandoned the Lands Between after the Shattering and the tree remained. The tree closing the entrance could've been Radagon for all we know. Even if the tree would have a will, or at least a set of commands like a computer, then why close off while grace guides the tarnished towards the tree? The intent of the Two Fingers was for a Tarnished to become Elden Lord, for them to put a leash on Marika, or another Empyrean, and restore order to appease the Greater Will. However, both the tree is closed off, and Morgott seems intent on halting your progress. Therefore I believe the guidance of grace to be Marika's doing, rather than the tree's (golden order). She planned all along for the Tarnished to return and wants you or Godfrey (or Ranni even) to break the cycle. Melina assists you for this reason. I like how he didn't include Godrick among the children of Godfrey though lol
@@twiggy_being it's called humor. I could have just went "um, we all know that's not how it goes" but that's a boring comment. But if you didn't pick up on the humor in Dan's explanation I don't expect you to pick up mine.
Humor requires context. The viewer has NO way of knowing the level of seriousness of a comment without it. Dan offered context... You however did not... Anyone can show Dan's explanation to a new player (or someone that doesn't play ER at all) - And they would get the humor - But they would also miss the fact that everything he said was false. However the humor is detectable. So if you think that just because no one gets/sees YOUR humor - That they wouldn't get his - You are mistaken... That being said - Twiggy's comment had NOTHING to do with the level of humor from Dan... But rather the lack of reliability in his explanation... You can explain something correctly and STILL contain ample amounts of humor. That is what Dan lacked...
@@TheMorrogoth eh, I guess my kind of humor is you either get or you don't... I guess that's what I get for being into satire. It'll be undoubtedly incorrect but said as if dead serious... But, I get it... So I'll add a disclaimer for those who don't get it.
I like how Geoff's Argent Metal has a distinctly different flare from Mick's songs. Like it's gone from Doom style to more of his own thing and I'm all for it. In the covers and the original songs, it's really shaped into a sound that while Doom inspired, really feels like so much more than just a style match. I can't put my finger on what it is that makes yours feel the way it does, but it's really damn good and am excited to see where your style takes you in time
Mick's are more brutal and artificial (in a good way). These are more rounded and organic, probably because theyre covers rather than songs created from the ground up.
Elden Ring is really hard to translate to heavy metal because of the way the orchestra and the choir softly blend together to create what I call a musical gradient. The game's theme song (a.k.a. Radagon's boss track) is probably the best one you could've gone with because it's probably the closest to being metal music as-is, and I'd imagine any other track would've pulled away from Doom far too much to be fully recognizable. I love what you did here.
That summary of Elden Ring was a hilarious masterpiece and I had to pause the video every time there was a subtle name change to laugh really hard and then hit play again to continue the hilarity which has led to this video being way longer than it was originally intended.
That fucking rocked. Probably the best one yet in my opinion. It takes some serious skill to take such wildly different genres of music and mash them together in a way that doesn't detract from the power and scale of either. Masterfully done sir and thank you.
You made papa Mick proud.. this is exquisitely beautiful. What I personally wish we'd get more in game songs is brass. I miss brass. Woodkid's Iron from the AC Revelations trailer ripped so hard and it was in part due to the brilliant use of brass instruments.
Geoff, I gotta say brother, you absolutely knocked it out of the park once again. This sounds bloody fantastic. Putting this in my gym playlist like pretty much all your other songs dude. Great job.
My joy when I heard you say you remixed Radagon's theme ! It's my favorite of the entire game and you did it great justice !! Great remixes !! And great video !
Radagon is Merika by the way, it's weird but when she shattered the elden ring he also got disembodied I'm pretty sure. In case the self-cest between merika and radagon made the lore easier to understand
Bravo. This was such a fantastic blend of the 2 OSTs; had the badass-ery of Doom with the epic holy grace of Elden Ring. Magnificent final product, well done
When expert was about to tell the lore I thought you'd cut it like "few millennias later". But this is better. Also God my favorite track from the game is now merged with yet another favorite fandom which is Doom, I love it sooo much, Jesus. I'm really happy. You made my day. And btw this metal version of the ER Theme was the best out here. There's few others but this one feels the most canon to the original and being, well, original enough to stand out but also remain true to Doom
the rocking thumbnail for this video, the silly brief summary of the lore, the editing, showing the process behind making the song, and how well it mixes the actual form of the track that plays when fighting radagon and the elden beast with the style and instruments of doom eternal, this video was perfect, awesome work geoff i will join your thriving ocean of subscribers.
This is....AWESOME!!!!!! it take the epicness of the elden ring sound track and perfectly combined it with the brutality of the Doom sound track. Well played gentlemen well played!
I've spent hours in that fight lol I think that makes this adaptation extra amazing 🤩 is such an intense moment that has made me feel so much pain, but immeasurable triumph.
To be fair mixing DooM and Elden Ring music styles works perfectly because they do share some similarities... I mean listen to Godrick's and Fortissax's phase 2 themes
This is my first time watching this channel, but God damn what an introduction! It may not be totally DOOM but it is by FAR one of the best Elden Ring covers on the internet. It reignited the hype I felt when I first booted up the game after years of waiting, and the hype I felt when I faced off against Radagon for the first time. I never thought I would ever get that experience again, but you somehow gave it to me! Liked, Subbing, and here's the reply to go with it all! I'm sharing this with my friends
It does stray pretty far from the Doom style, but that isn't a bad thing. It merges elements of it pretty well with Elden Ring's musical style and the end result is honestly pretty epic.
Your sense of humor is right up my alley. The finished product fucking SCHLAPS! Definitely sub worthy. I'm not a Doom music aficionado, but I thought it kept the best parts of both property's musical leanings and became more than either individually. Well fucking done.
I love how I can still hear elements of Killer Instinct in most tracks inspired by Mick Gordons work even if it's not specifically modelled after his work on that game.
If you think about it Doom guy started as a human and became the slayer while slaying demons (basically a god, lower case), while the tarnished, started as a revived being and became the elden/frenzied lord after fighting bosses. Both gaining weapons and power along the way.
IMHO, it would be quite thrilling if the vocal section of the track was a guitar or synth (like in "The Only Thing They Fear Is You") solo. The chorus here is more like a vague background.
