I dont speak Kazakh; I learned two other languages found in Kazakhstan, which you know is pretty diverse. it is not turkish sea but it is "hazar denizi" in turkish (and probably in other turkic languages) which means "sea of khazars". there has been a khaganate called "Khazar Khaganate" which was turkic. they ruled the north of the caspian. that is the reason their name was given to the lake (caspian is actually a lake not sea).
