What if Vini Poncia didn't produce KISS Dynasty? | Fixing the KISS albums - Episode 7

You guys went through the same thing I did, picking up this band in the late 70s. I think my first record was Alive II which I still really love. A lot of songs like "She" I think are OK in studio but really good like on Alive! But my neighbor at about 10 years old was already a collector & 40+ years later I can still remember him being so excited gets the album "The Originals". His enthusiasm got me into Kiss forever. I saw them live for Anamalize in Waco, TX w/ queensryche which will stay w/ me forever.. unforgettable show! I could talk about this topic for a long time. Talk about hard rock w/ Ace to metal Vinnie Vincent and shredding Mark St. John. Additionally, I never watch videos that are 30+ minutes but I hung around for all of this one. Dynasty isn't even in my top 10 but I found ya'lls conversation interesting the whole way.

Great video! To me, DYNASTY is a perfect album. And I say that, in that this is the only KISS album, I never skip a track. (R&RO would be my pick for a perfect (sonically) album). There is something so charming about the entire ROK era. Granted the change of costumes, the sound, everything got lighter, but Ebro when Fonzie jumped the shark, Happy Days was still fun for the kids…and that is what I think of the DYNASTY era. Pre teen fun. Per fixing this album, I really wouldn’t change a thing. My one Gene add would be (let’s pretend it was written at the time), “Something Seems To Happen At Night”, as that song has that roller skate, late 70’s disco vibe that I think would lead into Genes “Naked City” noir feel we would get a year later. Maybe not the best add? But certainly fun. Great thoughts on this one. Have a great week.

I like how they really embraced the 1800’s majorly piano vibe in the verse of X Ray eyes maybe go for it more just to get that dark contrast in the chorus one of my fave deep cuts so far

Creatures has a darkness feel for me too first listened to it thanks to my buddies from The music of KISS Podcast last winter or maybe two winters ago now but it was cold n dark rollerblading around greenlake with my light blades listening to Creatures on my headphones

I totally get how the verse/ chorus sounds odd in X ray eyes but I still love it and that chorus riff is so angular

Hey Guys, really enjoyed the episode. I've been a huge Kiss fan since 77 when I picked up Destroyer. I have a what if, and no disrespect toward anyone, I just have a thought on what I would have liked to see Kiss do during this period. Instead of the solo albums, I think Kiss should have released a double album containing the best tracks from the solos. Have Eddie Kramer produce it. Have the coolest cover without a band shot. Open the gatefold where you would see the band unmasked. Follow this double album with Creatures. Continue on from there. Just completely omit Dynasty, Unmasked and The Elder. Just me thinking what if. Thanks again for your shows.

Surely I was made for loving you is something for the disco....BUT all the other songs are strong rockers! Ace definitely smokes on Dynasty! 🤘⚡️🤘 In my opinion the album would have been heavier if Eddie Kramer would have produced it. And I was made for loving you should have closed the album, because it doesn’t fit with all the other tunes. Like you suggested in the discussion Charisma would have been a good opening track for this rocking album. I enjoyed your discussion very much. Hello Brant, I do like your content but that fix the records, leave it alone. I was 9 years old when I heard Dynasty and after 44 years I still enjoy the sound, songs etc. Need no fix. Keep up the good work, you can fix it😉
