Very helpful. Being trying to figure out why I can't enable cloud services on my computer so I can show videos with audio on google meet. Sounds like this is the solution to the problem.

Hi I have already used mirror imaging. So now I get this phone that don't do it I have to get one of these Chromecasting . Can I do the same things I did with mirror imaging. I have apps on my phone I want to watch on TV. That is not Google or RU-vid. Wil it still let me watch my anime apps or movie apps. I needed to know this before I buy this. Thank you please get back

Hi Brett - this looks ideal for making our older TV catch up with the times. Question though - we're mostly using it to be able to access our Disney, Netflix, Prime etc for the kids - but if you're using your phone does it render it useless if i'm on my phone or using my phone for other purposes? and does it suck the battery from your phone?

Great questions! When you use one of the apps to Cast a video to the Chromecast, you can then exit the app on your phone and open other apps without it interrupting the video. This does not effect battery life on your phone because the Chromecast is doing all the work to pull the video from the internet and play it.

Great video. But not what I need to get information off a half dead phone. My mom drowned her cell phone in the toilet by accident. It worked fine for a day then the screen went off so I thought. I was in my office where I was working on it one night and something caught my eye. In a poorly lighted room you can see enough to run it but when the room is fully lighted you can not see it. I need some piece of equipment to display the phone on any size screen that has HDMI so I can control it. I thought Chrome cast would work but after seeing how you are using it, it is not going to work for my purpose. Do you know of something that would do the job? Thank you for any helpful advice.

Hi I just wanted to know would this work on a new Phillips smart tv? I got one and Phillips customer service is crap all they could tell me is it is a saphi system not android. Gobbldigoo to me. Not tech savvy at all. I want to cast movies from disney + which at the minute isn't compatible with the saphi system. Please help!

The Chromecast gets data directly from your wifi and does not use your phones data.

You can't cast TO the computer. You can cast from your computer's browser to the device, though.

+Muhammad Fatih There are two different 2ays to do this. You can use the Google Home app to mirror an Android device to the Chromecast and just open the gallery and press play. The other option is to use Google Photos. Once your videos are backed up, you can cast the videos from the app to the TV.

Yes it will play audio with the video. You can send music to it as well through supported apps.

If I use a VPN to access other regions from Netflix will it still cast ? My tv is a smart TV but whenever my VPN is enabled it does not cast to the TV.

Apparently the Chromecast takes the IP adres from your rooter. One can use the mirroring option to display screen of your phone on tv. This can give buffer problems while watching a video. The second more complex option os using a rooter with a vpn IP adres. How ti do this is explained in other videos. I use a cable between my android device an the hdmi input of my tv. That works perfectly, one can use hdmi to hdmi or usb to hdmi.

then answer should be YES, because this is how chromecast work, once you choose the movie you want to watch in your phone, then choose cast to chromecast, you can turn off your phone and the chromecast will continue the movie show via wifi connection.

Chromecast does *NOT* make your normal TV a smart TV. It's only a wireless bridge between a computer/table/phone/etc to the TV. If it would be a "smart device", it wouldn't need another device to cast. You could simply plug an usb stick or sdcard or read files from a NAS. Also, you cu browser the web from the chromecast itself. And it's not the case. So please, don't say stupid things, some people might take it for good, buying a chromecast and expecting it to change an old TV into a smart TV.

Thats kind of how they use the term without getting over technical to people who arent all the way into the weeds and details with technology. “It allows your non smart tv to be smart” isnt to be taken overly literal. It just means you get a way to view apps things the TV naturally couldnt

From my understanding Chromecast is not like Roku where you install apps on the device... rather Chromecast just streams content on your phone to your TV.

Very good BUT YOU DON'T EXPLAIN how to connect the device to the internet from the TV????Very basic instructions plus you don't mention the fact that the app on your phone when setting it up it requires a bank or credit card no to verify you are 18 or over. Not as easy as you are saying here.This device is not just a plug and play as it's very very complicated to set up and requires passwords etc.
