Has me confused as a long time designer of diagnostic systems, automotive is dirt cheap, no secondary references to compare to, more like guesswork, least military spends a couple of extra bucks with references. Now for the Coresense, downloaded the manual and studied it. Not that outside units are that complicated. Just have a 24VAC thermostat input to a contactor that switched on 240VAC to both the fan and compressor, but each instead of two wires has a third through an AC capacitor that gives a leading edge extra waveform like a two phase motor. By adding the Coresense the only difference, is that the thermostat output instead of going directly in the contactor is going into the input of the Coresense unit. So no matter how you look at it, it is only looking at the contacts of the thermostat and that is it. The output of the Coresense goes to the contactor, so what is going beyond that is any ones guess, no 240V, burnt contactor contacts, low or hi pressure sensor shot or out of tolerance, capacitor shorted, or jammed fan or compressor. Looking at just to thermostat cooling contacts, will tell the duty cycle of the compressor, but very indirectly. Any arguments against this? And since it is in series with the solenoid of the contactor it can easily be the problem of no compressor operation. Can have 24VAC in but zero VAC out.
What if your core sense has no lights? 12 units outside 7 of them have no power to the core sense module or rephrase 7 of them have no lights to indicate what the problem is
My AMANA air conditioner uses this controller, the yellow LED light is always on, but the heat pump just doesn’t work. Why? By the way,The outdoor temperature is -15 degrees Celsius now.
Yes this will help all of us in the future as this is installed more and more equipment, and we as an industry have the right training to use it to diagnose quickly. Thanks for your comment.
I have one of these on my a/c unit and there is no lights flashing or coming on this module I have that exact one. I’ve trouble shooted everything and my unit is not working. I’m thinking it has to do with this module because there’s no light of any kind coming on the device and my a/c unit will not come on
hey dave i am just gettin into hvac and am concerned this will hurt diagnostics of hvac can you give me some feedback if all new units will employ this then we will have customers telling us what codes its pulling, this will be annoying and will this ruin the diagnostics fee we are able to charge now?
