Trey Xavier cab IR pack: bit.ly/SICKIRS In this video, we take a look at guitar speaker cab IRs, also known as impulse responses or cab sims, and how to load them in your recording software!
I just bought the Two Notes Torpedo Captor X mostly for the attenuation, not really knowing exactly what the IR features were about. This was an absolutely perfect explanation for me! Well done and thanks!
Me just watching this to even figure out what the file even is, I’ve tried googling and couldn’t get any files, you came in clutch with these IRs! Also I have the same vst, I used it on a dubstep track to give the growls a bit of a different tonality and it was dope!
Very informative! Maybe I can ask a question? I bought a bundle of IR's from Ownhammer. What I don't understand is the different maps and names of these IR's. I am kinda lost here. They talk about different Hz (41.000 etc.) and a lot of stuff I don't really understand. It is overwhelming but I know that IR's are a good thing :-)
Thanks, i'm just starting to learn about this concept. What am i missing though. I mean isn't this 'IR' thing just another name for sampled presets? whats the difference. that concept has been around forever so i'm not really seeing any difference.
I think kids with practice amps could benefit from a set of headphones that have a built-in impulse loader. That way, they can play their guitars quietly and not get a headache.
Hello. Great video. I downloaded the Pulse install folder. Theres no install wizard so put the 4 files to where I thought they should go but not showing up in the plugin drop-down menue in Logic Pro. Just need help with the path to where I need to put these 4 files. If anyone can reply Id be greatful. Thx
I haven’t been happy with my mic’d amp sound coming out of the house. Could IRs be used somehow with an amp to replace a mic? For reference purposes, my amp is a Laney Ironheart.
Hey man thx for the video! Just wondering what the difference is between using an all tube head with IRs going completely digital and using plug ins. I’m still new to this so correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t IR’s defeat the purpose of using a tube head? Especially if you’re silent recording and bypassing an actual physical cab
Been playing guitar for 5 years now. I thought i had finally gotten over everything daunting about the instrument. Then I tried recording. Theres too many things to learn where do i even find the time to learn all this
This is NOT the place to start. Start with a cheap USB stereo mixer, run your guitar/pedals/amp through it in to Audacity recording freeware. Beginner Audacity tutorials are all over RU-vid, but look for one that covers instruments, and understand that a USB mixer and an audio interface basically do the same thing. Good luck.
@@patrickfitzgerald2861 ive got a scarlettrite focus usb interface and i record in reaper. All my effects and amp sims are archetype neural dsp plugins, except a polymoon meris pedal. What should I focus on given all this information?
What is the reason for this as opposed to using a full amp simulator? I've been heavily thnking about buying a dual rectifer but I dont play in a band and I live in an attached house so I cant be too noisy. Would using a Cab IR with a real mesa amp be worth it or should I just use a full amp simulator?
I demonstrated this with a real amp but you can also load third party IRs like this into amp sims, both plugins and physical ones like an AxeFx. In fact, if you're using an amp sim, you're already using these - the cab block in an amp sim is an IR of some kind.
@@treyxaviermusic owh. i see. im asking this because i dont have any amp and speaker cabinet at home to do experiments. i use multieffect with IR's. thank you for answering.
That’s a more complex procedure. You’d have to shut off the cab sim in the plugin, and reamp the signal out to a flat power amp and into a cab and mic that up
@@treyxaviermusic I have a Roland GR-55 synthesizer would I be able to use I.R via usb connecting to the synthesizer? Thank you 🙏 and sorry for the multiple questions I just don’t how to get it from computer to my amp 😅
@@treyxaviermusic that's kinda confusing considering you can use a different amp sim with an IR? So the amp sim is only the power amp part? Does that mean a sim like Roots has its entire own chain, but when you add an IR the whole chain is replaced except the power amp part?
