Man....you broke all 5 elements down in the audio component. This was awesome. Thank you. I practiced each piece while watching the video. For me the visual drawing of the water was perfect. Thanks man. Based on what you demonstrated in this 5 week audio run through, I fixed some terrible audio in video I just put out.
What is a limmiter? Limiter is a dynamic proccesor that manipulates the amplitude of a signal. Purpose: A limmiter raises the amplitude at a designated amount and you set an amount for it to stop at. What does it do? It just raises it how much ever you want. And their is a ceiling it stops at. Types: Brickwall limiting True limiting etc. Second Definition: A Limmiter is like a compressor with above a 10:1 Ratio. ------------------------------------ [] Recall that compressors turn down audio peaks when they go over a certain threshold level. [] The ratio determines how much that audio will be reduced by [] A 3:1 Ratio translates in english to "For every 3db the audio goes over my set threshold, turn down by 1db" [] Therefore a 10:1 Ration translates to " For every 10db the audio goes over my set threshold turn it down by 1db ???" I dont see how it's a compressor when it's not compressing...? Im confused.
Help me out with your question - are you asking about a Limiter being a compressor? It does the same thing a compressor does, just at a really intense ratio. 10:1 doesn't mean every 10db, turn down 1db - it means when the audio goes above the threshold, it is reduced to 1/10th it's original amplitude above that threshold. Does that make sense?
This is great, your explanation is very clear. Personally being a visual learner would like to see maybe some screen recording of showing an example of what you mean or a short 10 second clip with voice over explaining what is happening. Just some constructive criticism but this video was great and I understood right away coming in with no knowledge. Many thanks from Arizona!
That is such good feedback - I’ve been planning an update to all of these lil audio tools videos since they’re almost two years old, so i will definitely take what you said to heart!
after watching, reading multiple content about limiter...your video gave me proper concept of Limiter.....Thank You so Much...Love from India....just need 1 clarification...why sound gets louder when I down the threshold??
When you say the audio gets pulled back after hitting the wall, you mean that all the audio information is still within the song? Or does the part of the audio that went over just simple gets cut-off and thats why using too much of it is bad? Thank you
Thank you VERY much. Just bought a NTG3 and had no idea how to make it sound good (my audio editing using lavs was better before this course haha, now i dont fear booms anymore)
Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out. Look for signs that you are living righteously. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!
