I just need to say to people in these comments, there is no longer springs under the ring. As the spring would give very often it would hurt the wrestlers so they done away with it years ago. It’s now just basically the frame and wood.

Hey Mike, great video. Was hoping to see how you have your cross cables under the ring. I noticed you use ratchet straps, but there really isn't much to it and for someone that doesn't know, they would have missed that entirely. Also, the sagging skirts - I am happy to see you are a bungee cord fan - Lay the skirt upside down on top of the ring - Tie the rope down firm to to the bottom truss on one side - On the other side, cow hitch a bungee cord to the apron rope, then pull that super tight around the bottom truss on the other side, then tie it down - Drop the skirt down Now not only is the skirt folding over the top of the ring but if you have that rope nice and tight, it'll keep that skirt from sagging throughout the whole show. I've adapted what Tom from WAR in Ohio does for his rings, where he replaced the apron rope with dog leads and then uses a ratchet tie under the rope to get that cable nice and taut. I personally love this way better than my way, but I am doing ring rentals and other events twice a week almost every week so the bungee cords are faster to set up and break down, plus ropes collapse better during breakdown.

That's great. In WWE, always have Jaw/Jaw turnbuckles, real ropes made natural sisal ropes, 4 inches turnbuckle pad of 10 × 12 turnbuckle with tighten up with ropes & 1½ inches of O-ring steel when using ropes and tighten up with hose clippers. They (WWE) had coil spring in the center of pro-wrestling ring.

He did not go into the framing underneath. This is the most important part he completely kept out. The maker of these frames purposely keeps this info from the public. There HAS to be something that is “giving” in order to have that spring type action. There’s no way wrestlers would agree to fall into wood planks and steel framework.
@SegaGentleman
@SegaGentleman 8 месяцев назад
There is no give in a wrestling ring. As a life long fan I believed there was a spring under a ring, but kurt angle just did a joe rogan episode and said that there is only plywood under the cloth. The company does this for maximum sound effect during slams
@abstractfate6104
@abstractfate6104 7 месяцев назад
In todays world there is actually no spring at all as it was hurting wrestlers more as the spring would keep giving out. Some rings will have braces underneath making it actually more stiff. I’ve only encountered that a couple of times though. Most rings today having nothing. It’s just the metal boards with very little flex to them. So if you think wrestling don’t hurt, go ahead and get some training in for a few days and tell me it don’t knock the breath out of your soul.
@abstractfate6104
@abstractfate6104 7 месяцев назад
And yes, we do agree on falling wood planks and boards just like we agree to fall on a concrete floor thats outside the ring, sometimes wooden floors.
@abstractfate6104
@abstractfate6104 7 месяцев назад
And let’s be realistic here. There’s an x under the ring to support the ring posts. How are you gonna put a spring in the center of this specific ring?
@jarvisyoung8350
@jarvisyoung8350 5 месяцев назад
Wrong ! I wrestled. There is some give, but the boards and a steel frame is pretty much it. No springs, etc. And, yes we were willing. We knew how to take a bump on that fairly hard surface.

I watched them break the ring down after a DPW show. Its just wood boards lined in two rows. Then a "mat" over top of it. I didnt get to take a flatback, but i did slap the ring top near the apron. There is little to no give. There are no springs underneath. Its just bad asses, going out there, and hurting the shi* outta themselves. I hold those warriors in the highest respect. Except Kidd Bandit.
