@@onlyinparadise4613 yes it has affected Thailand also. We have currently cancelled all ordination programs and retreats until the virus is better. Just to be safe.
A lot of events and social gatherings are being cancelled everywhere, including Disneyland. Stay safe and healthy!! Please keep posting more awesome videos for us.
I have never been to Thailand . By spiritual practice i am Hindu . However your video has touched my heart & now I am thinking , if I could get a chance to practice monkhood for at least 60 days .
Thats great experiece may change your attitiude and your life. I 'm from central Europe.Since i practices and meditate i understood that real life is not race for material things ..Life harmony ,health, meditate its make sense
@@Christof44 Hi. Why do you say that? Is there a similar program/opportunity for international people to study to become a monk in Nepal? Also, I presume it would be Mahayana tradition in Nepal? Your response is appreciated. Thank you . . .
i REALLY want to go to the rainy season area badly i love everything about this already but with the beautiful mother nature raining everywhere i want to go even more now nice to see you again 🙏
very attracted to these videos - though i am an endeavouring practitioner of Vaishanava culture. The Buddhist way of life is very similar to that of a Vaishanava. Simple Living higher thinking. My heart felt prayers for these aspiring students and sending much love to all those in these unprecedented times. Love these videos, giving out so much positive vibes. your aspiring and humble servant Krsna Gopal Dasa (from the UK)
Since a few years I started to love the rain. But ever since I went on a retreat where shamans chanted in the middle of the night and the rain started to pour down on the roof, it felt like magic.
A very nice video. I lived 25 years in Asia, mostly Singapore and Taiwan and at least a year in Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. I was a Lay at one of the Singapore temples. During those years however, this beautiful programme sadly wasn’t available. I have always followed the Buddhist path and still rise at 4am for meditation and training. Even though I’m fitter than most 40year olds I think I’m too old now to be accepted, which is a shame as I had wishes of going on a retreat to purge the last remnants of a past life in these modern times and truly experience loving forgiveness to others and especially myself and be properly ordained. Do you know of any downloads of the morning and evening prayers. I lost my only copy many years ago and can’t find a genuine copy on line? Once again; a lovely video.
Thank you so much my friend. Sounds like a wondeful experience. If you ever get the chance, you can still ordain in Thailand or join the retreats. There are many opportunities. Regarding chanting, you can search morning chanting and evening chanting for the Dhammakaya temple. That's one option. 😊
Nick Keomahavong - Sincere thanks for answering. It was a pleasure to read your response and I felt rather positive, but... After all the virus pandemic ravages departs our world and people pick up their lives again and travel is normalised I would most certainly go and ordain, but... would have to have dispensation as I am but a spritely and healthy 70. Although I am fit and can still do 40 press-ups and walk over 5 miles a day on top of my meditations, perhaps it also might just require a doctor’s certified clean bill of health? That is the only stumbling block I foresee at this time, but a positive and open heart might also help and never hurts. Thank you again anyway for your reply.
I've been looking for a place to practice true, traditional Budhism, but apparently nunneries are way harder to find and enter from the Caribbean from where I am. Any ideas or suggestions pls??🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@nickkeomahavong01 any names or way to contact them? Sorry to insist but I have no way of linking with them, so they don't think Inam just another tourist trying to have an adventure...My intention is to serve as an English teacher as I can become ordain. Thanks for your advice I admire and appreciate your work!!🙏🏾
What a great video! I'm thinking of maybe doing this experience in a couple of years. If one chooses to stay after the initial 45 days and go to the Rains retreat, do they then return home? Or in going to the Rains retreat one commits to being a monk for life? Thank you so much!
Hey, I'm interested in becoming a monk in a Thai Forest Tradition. Do you know is it possible to became a monk if i have knees problems? I practice mediating by sitting on a chair, i can practice with crossed legs (but definitely not a lotus position), but after some time my knees are starting to really hurt + back of my head and it can keep for few days. I was trying to make some breaks and trying once again, but it always hurt after some time, so i passed it and stayed with the chair mediation. Much love from Poland, thank you for your videos!
Any chance there's a female equivalent? I see so many videos on the training of monks, but surprisingly few sources (such as 'day in the life' and retreats etc.) on nuns.
What is the fees to get in there and become a monk?? Can a female join it?? And during the three months period, the monks stay like that in a meditative position for 3 monts straight without getting up ,eating something??
Nicely made video. Beautiful production and uplifting, but it's a bit "Hollywood style" and seems to romanticise life as a monk. I would like to see something that represents the full experience of a bhikkhu once the novelty of being in a monastery wears off. I.e. the friction of living in close proximity with lots of people you wouldn't otherwise choose to be with, the boredom and frustration that we experience with a mind that isn't content. The struggles that we all face in meditation with wandering mind, and an indication of the many hundreds or thousands of hours of (often painful and challenging) practice it usually takes for the mind to settle with some stability. Not to mention all the monastery politics etc. It's not easy!
@@nickkeomahavong01 Thanks Nick, I see this is something of a promotional video for IDOP so maybe not the right place to explore the challenging side of things. I guess monastery politics would be off-limits, but would be great to see an exploration of the other stuff at some point in the future. Best wishes with it all.
How to explain the current rains and floods of year 2022 in asia.? Cycles of weather, individual cyclical patterns of = severity == half yearly, yearly, ... once in five years, once in ....years, once in fifty years, ...
Hi, question to ask is impulse right? And if a person/ man or woman act based on impulse is it right? Correct sometimes we act based on impulse. May or may not know whether its good for us or others so based on this answer is impulse correct?
Nick I need to purify my mind from this insecure how would I get through to this retreat how much expense will it cost . When is the time for it . How would I reach there
This is so beautiful, Nick (what is the proper way to address you, btw?). In light of the events of the last several of months in America, where a cold civil war threatens to go hot, I find myself detaching from the obvious suffering of all the offenders and victims alike, it being impossible anymore to tell which is which with a news media now just pushing agendas. Trying to see them all as merely suffering individuals (without regard for affiliations) is beyond my spiritual capabilities so far, so I'm focusing on healing myself first. Reading has been helpful (the Heart Sutra, the Diamond Sutra, etc.) and my meditation practice is developing. But these videos are so inspiring, they are like little batteries, with their images of peace and beauty. I feel guilty for ignoring the world, but to think that my worrying about it was changing it, much less "saving" it, has been revealed as the illusion it always was. Put your own oxygen mask first, say the airlines, so that's what I'm doing. Thank you, thank you, thank you, again, for these lovely videos.
Awww beautiful. Yes there is alot happening in the world due to all the defilements of people. The best thing we can do is like you said, change ourselves first then we can better help to change the world 😊😊
Nicely put! thanks for reading my mind (most of our minds I'm sure).. That is exactly how I've been feeling lately. I used to post lot of political, social, spiritual posts , thinking I'm doing a great service to people to choose good from bad... But not anymore... I can't figure out what is the truth and what is fake created by media political parties with different agendas.
Hey Nick! I messaged you on Snapchat. I don't know if that's the best way to get in touch with you but I was hoping to ask you a couple of questions when you had the time. I hope you all at Wat phra Dhammakaya are keeping safe with the virus!
@@nickkeomahavong01 anunció recommendations? As I just have never been to the region, don't know where to ask. These countries are super hard for us to access, as I am from the Dominican Republic. If I only had the name of a sister, a nun or a lay person who can give me some direct clues as how to make it work. It will be greatly appreciated brother.🙏🏾
Deep stillness is the core.here i have to kind of disagree.it is somewhat difficult, but by leading a normal life with moderation being the key,one can attain deep stillness.you need to devote just one hour for saadhna. Deep saadhna is emptying of the mind, thoughtless state.this is the only real core.if you can attain this state willingly, any time, you are on tovbeing your true self.
@@nickkeomahavong01 Thank you so much for your reply. Will it be possible for you to provide some information about those programs please? Where should I look for them? Love and Gratitude again. ❤️🙏🏼
