Before you consider nursing school watch this video! I will discuss what an LVN/LPN is and where we can work, and how much we make. Check out my main channel : / @loveejules FOLLOW MY SOCIALS : IG: @queenjuless
i am an LVN as a new nurse i started off at $25.75/hr in SNF then after 3 yrs of exp i was making $39.00/hr in SNF. i work as a health services director in assisted living making $50.48/hr but salaried at $105,000/yr. It maxes at $125,000/yr which is equivalent to $60/hr. our regional nurse for NorCal makes between $130,000-$160,000/yr and she is an LVN. most assisted living prefers an RN tho. I was shocked to find out that our regional nurses for my assisted living is LVN but one of them is an MD from her home country tho. Just sharing. Prison state pays also 50/hr but i think it is through a registry tho and contract. i am planning on making some videos too soon within a week or two from my own experiences. As an LVN i am making roughly around $100,000/yr. I no longer do director but doing home health and gives me more flexibility. i have 4 home health jobs. 3 per diem and 1 full time. making roughly $4-5K per pay period total.
I’m in California too and trying to get into RN schools here is a STRUGGLE, for both ADN and BSN degrees. I spent 2.5 years at a community college, got a 3.9 GPA and 89.3 on the TEAS, but still have gotten rejected from multiple schools. I didn’t want to keep waiting and reapplying; that wouldn’t guarantee me a spot anyway. (At all the schools I’ve looked into, there are no waitlists, people just have to reapply in the next application cycle) I also didn’t have experience in healthcare; some schools give preference/bonus points to people who do. I ended up choosing to go into an LVN school starting in February. This way I’m getting experience and hopefully increasing my chances of getting into an RN school after the LVN program
ranga ranga thank you so much for the support! I haven’t looked into online programs so I don’t want to suggest one I am not sure of the quality! Do lots of research before applying! You will need to do your clinical hours in person though
I’m actually just going to finish up my cna training and becoming an lvn is actually my next step ..I’m 36 been working as a truck driver all my life and I’ve laque wanted to be a nurse .
I'm in Kentucky. I work level 1 trauma. I am a lpn, we do total pt care. The only med we can not push is a cardiac med and we can't administer blood and we can not do 1st assessment. We have a thin line here in Kentucky
Sheree Hammonds that’s great! My tips would be healthy study habits with the material you’re studying. I’ll do a video on study tips very soon. Flash cards, writing things down and highlighting important information is probably my key points. &Reading chapters at least twice. You got this!!
Howuch schooling do you think is necessary to do well in lpn? Like what kind of classes are necessary to have a strong background? I've been out of school for like 6 years
In my area the hospital systems REFUSE to hire LPNs. That’s why I personally went the RN route. However, as a current CNA while in school, I have a belief that the hospitals should & will soon all have to start hiring LPNs/LVNs on the floors to help the short staffed RNs. The RNs I worked with are so short staffed it’s ridiculous & they talk about how great it would be to have LPNs. The nursing shortage crisis is only growing, so I’ll say that in the near future I think we will start seeing more LPNs in the hospital settings working under RNs.
I think they are in my area but I will predict in the future that LPNs will be more in demand to assist in the nursing shortage crisis that’s within hospitals. I just know for now that no hospital in my area hires LPNs, so they tend to work in LTC & at home health.
