Yes ma’am! Everything you said was exactly how I felt when choosing LPN first. I just graduated on the 7th and now just waiting to take NCLEX-PN. I’ll be going back for transition to ADN next fall. I wouldn’t change my route for anything! It worked for ME. Now I can stack and gain experience for a few months until I go back to school 🥳
I’ve taught too many RN’s how to draw an IV. I’ve seen doctors grab LPN’s before they grab the RN’s all the time. Nursing is all about your hands on and weeds out people who are just booksmart!
I love this! People think that LPN’s aren’t smart or don’t have the knowledge to do basic nursing skills. Like huh ? I know so many LPN’s that have taught RN’s.
My mom is a BSNRN from the early 70s from a top university and she will say "I don't know how to draw blood or any of that. We weren't taught that in school".
@@moblack5883I could believe that to be true. However there should be a refresher courses offered by the employers to become a better and efficient nurse. 💫
In my experience, (I work in PA/NJ) a agency or travel, LPN makes more than an RN spends less time in school and pays way less to get their education, so why would I pay more money to make less money? I’m not someone who wants an administrative position, so I don’t really feel the need to get my RN. and if you’re someone who really enjoys long-term care or psychiatrics, most of the nurses, I’ve seen were LPNs anyways. As someone who is 21 years old on their own, there’s no way I would’ve financially been able to go to school for the amount of time it took to get an RN anyway.
I hate when RNs come up to me and be like why didn’t you just get your RN… i really be wanting to turn around and be like B$&ch!! Lol but no LPN is shorter im 6 months away from finishing my program which was 14 months all together. I totally agree and feel where u coming from sis.
Girl I even had a professor say I should of just went straight into the RN program smh lol. So annoyingggg. But yesss, you’re almost done 🎉🫶🏾 proud of you!
Congratulations 🎉! People will always have an opinion ! It’s so annoying … I hate that people feel as if LPN’s aren’t real nurses. They ARE! I’m going the LPN route because I am mother of 3 and I cannot afford NOT to work. Going for my RN will take up too much time and I need a faster way. Then I will bridge over to RN once I get my foot in the door.
This is so encouraging. I have my Associates degree in Pre-Nursing and my Medical Assistant certification. I stopped working as a medical assistant when I was pregnant. My son is 3 months now an I want to go back to school so that I can better our lives. I think I am going to go the LPN to ADN to BSN route.
Thank you so much for this! I have been stressing myself out trying to decide on RN or LPN. I have decided on just doing LPN to get experience, and I really just want to go into that side of nursing as soon as possible. I have been a CNA for 3 years, and just want to be officially working as a nurse.
I really enjoyed this video girl. Exactly, people should stop 🛑 telling people, “why don’t you just go and do RN bra bra bra instead” why don’t you go do it? Some of them are not even in the healthcare industry. I am glad you chose the route that worked better for you coz that’s exactly what I am gonna do. Of course I appreciate other people advice, but they gotta let me do what I feel in my heart will work better for me! Period! Much love and all the Best in achieving your highest Goal in the journey!!! You go Nurse.
Thank you so so much for sharing this hun! I’ve been seriously contemplating whether to do LPN or RN route. So, after researching and talking with fellow girlfriends who have been through various nursing programs and in the medical field, I’ve decided that the LPN program would be a great first step for me. I plan to take the entrance exam sometime next year once examination resume in Jan 2024. And yes, it is your life and we know ourselves best! I’m definitely at a stage in life where I cannot mentally stay in something too long, so these steps would be beneficial to me AND I can focus on each task. I hope to eventually become a RN one day, but for now this is and will be my journey. I appreciate you sharing this! It was incredibly helpful and encouraging. Take care boo!! 🩵🩵🩵
Yesss!!! Someone agrees with me! And it wasn’t no walk in the park either, for the ppl that don’t think it’s just as hard because it was ALOT! Now that I finished lpn I definitely feel like doing that first helps! Congratulations to you!
Congratulations 🎊. Im currently applying to become an LPN. I have to take classes in phases, I can’t do for years straight and work full time while managing everything else. People get on nerves with that.
You are so right, girl. I already have bachelors degree in business administration and wanna diverse into nursing, Initially, i was considering ABSN but was like hold on, I feel i need experience before i can step to that level since i dont have any healthcare background. Pepople bn like, why are you going way back? Its ok. I will go for that ABSN at the right time. congrats gu
I’m a lpn grad and if I had a dollar for every time someone told me to hurry and get my rn I would be rich by now . I’m happy I choose lpn 1st and I also had to stop working while I was in school because I was slipping in school falling asleep ect
Thank you young lady for this video. I may be an outlier here in the comment section but I will be pursuing a LPN rather than RN due to this being a career change for me. I'm in my mid 40s and have successfully single handedly raised 2 twins who are now both in college. The goal is to transition into the healthcare sector and ultimately use my work and educational background in combination with LPN/nursing to pursue later on leadership administrative role. I do not want to start off seeking the RN due to already having degrees and not wanting to be pigeon hole myself or worse unable to land employment because of the competitiveness of RNs with experience. I've come to assess from research that the LPN route can provide a foundation for not just valuable work experience but income much sooner, lesser debt, less time commitment with school and more insight of whether the RN is necessary. Also, there may be a LPN opportunity with an employer willing to invest or provide tuition support to its employees which will be the incentive for me to further education and invest the time to obtain RN. To sum it up this will be the field that I can see myself retiring from on the administrative side of LPN after having put the hands on work in. All the best to you and others with choosing the LPN in confidence.
Congratulations 🎉 You made the right decision. You have to do what works for you and as you said, you will gain experience as well as making money before and when getting your RN. Congrats! 👏❤🙌👍🙏
I have had this happen to me so many times. I am taking my pre-reqs and working full time. After I finish taking my pre-reqs and of course tackling the ATI teas test. I want to be an LVN first and then bridge over into an RN program. I have had people tell me why don't you get your RN. I can't afford to work less and go back to school full time yet alone 2 years no.. It's just me. Compared to other women on RU-vid who are married and have a man taking care of them kudos to you okay. To women who are in my situation where we can't afford to work part time and go to school full time for 2 years. Thank-You for this video. I will become a LVN it's been a process. I'm not there yet I will get there. One day at a time. @Keena Beenaaa
LPN school makes are in school so much better alone I’m the type of person who learns by hands on experience. I am a PCT in LPN program because I was a PCT it may LPN school a breeze. Just imagine how it was going to be as an LPN we experience in a RN program, so many people struggle because they have no experience, so definitely you made the right decision.
If you want to get your LPN, do it. Do whatever works best for you. I knew I would be able to do the year for LPN & then go back for my RN, which will only take me a year to get. Whatever you decide, you will be a great NURSE.
I knew an LPN who said that she never had any desire to become an RN. She said she hated the idea of being in a building where, if ANYTHING BAD happened, even if she was nowhere in sight, because she has the RN license it would be on HER!
I’m so glad that I find someone that’s in the same boat as me, I have lpn in mind but many people told me why do I wanna go backwards just get my rn. But like you mentioned the lpn is definitely less time consuming, meanwhile you making money you can still go back for your rn
Would you recommend lpn to someone who did their prerequisites for an rn program? I ask because I’m debating on getting an absn (that is expensive 😭) or go the lpn route. I’ve been trying to get into a nursing program but my gpa is average (3.3) and my teas are a 77, and the adn programs in Florida are very competitive
I would suggest the RN program since you already did your prerequisites. That mean you’ll have about a year or so left to get your ADN right? If that route doesn’t work out, you should def get into a LPN program. I was going to do Lpn to BSN route but that 3 years & almost 100K, nope 😂
@@keenabeenaaa Yes I would only have one year to do my adn. That's what I'm thinking, to just do my asn and then have my hospital pay for my bsn. Honestly just wouldn't make too much sense to go for a lpn if I already did my prereqs. I'm leaning towards keiser, it's expensive but at least I know I'll get accepted.
If you will be doing bridge program hope I do see you there because just by your presence you seem kind and hardworking and that’s what it takes to be successful
Even after the Lpn and you Go for RN associates but then afterwards you’d have to get your bachelors right? Curious. Because In Miami Fl they prefer Rn/ Cna/ medical assistant
I regret going the LPN route. Where I live you only get paid in the nursing homes. Going back for my RN degree was the best thing I could’ve done. But, to each its own.
Sis I’m following u. I live in Florida as well. I’m debating/ stressing myself out of going to LPN or RN. How much they start/pay u as an entry level? I’m currently a phlebotomist work at HCA Doctors. I just passed my TEAS with height score. Please reply!
Congratulations on passing your TEAS sis!! Proud of you 💕 Do what’s best for you. LPN worked out for me because I wanted to go step by step, now I’m working as a nurse while going back for my RN, gaining some experience.
Girl you mentioned about going back for the RN program as an LPN takes about a year, is that really true because according to the little research I’ve done it’s like there’s no shortcut to becoming an RN regardless if you’re an LPN or CNA. I’ll be waiting for your response please
Yes, it’s true. There are LPN-RN bridge programs. I’m currently in RN school. They give you credit for already being a nurse, that’s why it’s a shorter time frame to get your RN.
I’m considering LPN school vs ABSN. The ABSN Program is 15 months but the cost is like 60k. LPN….then LPN to RN…then RN to BSN will take like 3 yrs, but the cost is like 28k 😂 thats a big difference. Do you feel like LPN is hard as well?
Lol girl that’s why I’m doing the LPN to RN first because the LPN to BSN was almost 100k lol. I’m gooood 😂 but yess, the LPN is hard, but it’s worth it.
LPNs make peanuts at the end of the day, to make some real bread you have to put in so many freaking years to reach it being an LPN. Go straight to RN they make more no matter where they work over LPNs.
Depending on the state, some LPN’s make great money. Also some people like to break it down like myself & not go straight into a 2 or 4 year program, depending on what they have going on in their life, as far as kids, time management etc…. Some like to go LPN, then bridge to RN. I’m glad I became a LPN first, it worked out great for me.. now I work in the ER, while currently bridging to RN.
@@headshotcaptain8389 there is no cap agency lpns make more id rather be an lpn and getting agency rn pay and do less work so it is what it is not everyone wants to be an rn some do it just for the title
