When I studied penal substitution I found a lot of this content and it led me to reject PSA. The OT language about sacrifices was not about punishing sin but about purifying for life. Blood was seen as life not a symbol of death.

A few years ago, NT Wright was doing some informal interview, and the interviewer asked him a question from scripture. I don't recall the passage, but Tom picked up a Bible and started reading aloud in English, and the interviewer said, "What translation are you using?" Tom's reply was that he was simply reading from the Greek. Ever since that moment, I have been learning the languages of the Bible, because I want that kind of intimate familiarity with the scripture. And I feel like I'm getting there, slowly but surely. Thanks for putting this together. The atonement is still something that I need to wrap my head around to grasp more fully, but even my beginning studies in Hebrew & Greek are making it so much easier to understand. The way the words and concepts bounce off each other, the cross-references, the "hyperlinks." To God be the glory!

That is SO Awesome 👏 Understanding The original languages gives us so much more freedom. The cool part is no one needs to be an expert. You just have to find trustworthy scholars who know the original languages well. One of the goals of this channel is to get that type of content out and more digestible for everyone✅🥳 That’s the movement that I see happening inside the church today. Scholars who understand the original languages are having platforms and formats that are more readily accessible for the average joe like myself. I truly believe there’s a great awakening happening across the globe as the truth of God’s word has never been more plane to more people than Right Now. That is good news! I have got way more on the subject of atonement. So grateful you are here 🔔🤙🏽 Stay tuned. The beginning is near!

I always think about how we, humans, can not be in the presence of God....but how come the adversary could be in the presence of God to talk about Job? I wonder

??? We were in his presence in the pre Fallen state. He walked with us in the cool of the evening. Now that we're not, and are in a fallen state of existence, we quite literally cannot be in His ACTUAL presence. Same with Samael. After Job/Genesis Samael wasn't restored to the glory of his former self. He was smited, like lightning and fractured through out space and time aka existence hence he says, here and there back and forth upon the Earth to where he's been. *AND* God became a Human to share his existence and self with humans, and be in our state as he humbled himself.

Is God arbitrary? Is God Just? Can God sin? Is God immutable? If he is these things, which he is, then he does require justice. This does not mean he thirsts for blood, it means he thirsts for justice.

The old testament sacrifices provided atonement and was temporary and for past sins thus the reason why they had to continue with future sacrifices. Jesus Christ provides not atonement but redemption from sins and is a single act that covers sins both past and future therefore there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.

Atonement is not salvation, but is reconciliation, at baptism past sins are forgiven. Salvation comes through sanctification, for those in a state of faith and grace.

@simonskinner1450 atonement IS the grace of God. God sending Jesus to the cross and atoning for the elect is undeserved un merited favor. That is Grace. Atonement is the purification and payment of sins. If you are counting on your own works to merit your salvation you are lost. You nail Jesus to the cross again.

You cannot really understand atonement till you understand that everything is a manifestation of shifting hierarchies of souls, some of which are participated voluntarily, and some of which are forced on other souls. Atonement is addressing the stain of karmic sin through the redemption of karmic virtue. Thus, individuals need to atone for their evil choices, communities need to atone for their evil laws and actions, and so on, up to the atonement of entire species, planets, religions, etc. The entities who punish sinners also have to atone for the innocents and virtuous they take out as collateral damage. The gods of the bible, the Elohim, have almost all been atoning for the sins of early creation experiments through reincarnation and karma for many incarnations. The full awakening of the real God - the All-Father first creator - is the real Messiah all religions have been hoping for, as he and his fully atoned host will banish the old gods who refused to atone to padded universes where they can no longer tyrannize other souls and corrupt the young and naive. This is the true meaning of "many rooms in my father's kingdom". The many rooms are the many universes created since the Big Bang duoverse began implementing and testing God's most perfect plan yet - a plan which is unfolding through co-creation of an exponentially expanding family of souls at various levels of consciousness and capability governed by the self-evolving system of reincarnation and karma, which all souls participate in if they want to partake in creation outside a small bedroom surrounded by their NPC toy soldiers.

@williamoarlock8634 I appreciate where he's coming from, but find he has his own blind spots that lead toward the desire to retreat to old unscientific spiritual dogma, and make him susceptible to the same valid criticisms lobbed at biblical fundamentalists unaware of just how insecure most biased translations are. Once you accept the frequent translation of the plural Elohim to the singular God, you're lured down the absurd path to imagining a single almighty creator force, when you can see all around you that creation is an evolving team effort, with visionaries, architects, builders, testers, repairmen, and disassembly and recycling crews being essential to maintaining any creative system for any significant length of time. The nonsense idea of a perfect creator dies hard among naive wishful thinking souls looking for an airtight rationalization for the convenient myopic shortcuts they take to avoid dealing with moral and ethical challenges

@ringthembells143 Mine is not a world view. It is a multiverse view grounded in real science and the study of many perspectives of spiritual observation. I challenge anyone to defend their narrow-minded worldview that worships some almighty perfect "one" against the truth of the science of creation. Biblical fundamentalism is sheer nonsense. The idea that everything was ever "perfect" or could be created "perfect" flies in the face of everything we know about how coceation works. If God was already perfect, there would have been no need to create ever more imperfect chosen species. Unlike most religious people, I actually know how things like smartphones and computer chips are "created", and testing and debug are far more important to success than simply having a good idea. You insult all creators by envisioning God as anything more than the most accomplished spiritual scientist of a growing body of creators and evolvers of ideas into immersive virtual realities. You cannot hold such beliefs without completely ignoring the two most fundamental truths of physical and spiritual reality: 1) As above, so below - I.e. working patterns repeat at all levels of creation and 2) Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. A corrupt creator could not have been successful, and the bible itself states the success of the messiah to be the ending of a long age of corruption. Day 7 of creation has not been a day of resting, but a day of testing a system to identify and isolate corruption. That is the only logical intersection between biblical prophecy and leading edge physics
