By your explanation, you have made me develop interest to study business analysis. How do I have access to the BABOK GUIDE. Is this program run in Nigeria?
I'm afraid I don't know what courses are available in Nigeria. And if you want a copy of the BABOK Guide, you can buy it online or start with www.iiba.org/career-resources/a-business-analysis-professionals-foundation-for-success/babok/ - The IIBA is the creator of the guide and the main professional body for Business Analysts. They may well list training providers in each country.
Hey Mike - I'm a Continuous Improvement Officer, so use DMAIC/Lean Six sigma etc. I'm still not super clear on the difference between what I do and what a BA does- It seems we desire the same outcomes, is it the approach that is different? Many thanks
I've not worked with Continuous Improvement Officers, so I can't be sure. But I suspect that the BA role is traditionally about helping design the changes that will be implemented by a project... discontinuous improvement. So, I would expect your role is pretty similar - just focused on smaller, incremental improvements. That said, of course, with more agile projects in play, BAs are also working on series of smaller, incremental changes too. It may be there is not much difference between what you do and what a BA does!
