** Correction ** I had a typo in my notes that carried through the video. The G98 is 3.68 kW, NOT 3.86 kW as I stated in the video. Thanks to @brianwilson1210 for spotting it.
Had a quote from one installer wanting to start the install of a larger (9.6kW inverter) system in parallel with the G99 application. They were otherwise making a very competitive offering, but this red flag led to me rejecting them as it would be I taking all the risk. Anyone decent will always wait, particularly as my DNO (North West)has a reputation for being a bit troublesome and slow.
Informative as always Dale. One would hope any installer would sort out the appropriate DNO application for their customers buts it's useful to have the detail you have provided.
Great vid once again. Your conversation about DNO applications matches what I knew from my own experience except I thought it was 3.68kw not 3.86kw but I coild be wrong. It would be interesting to hear your experience of a house sale that included solar. Did it have any bearing on the sale? Did it complicate the sale? Did it attract more buyers and / or price? Perhaps a topic for another video!
Thanks for watching and commenting Brian and you are 100% correct on he 3.68 kW, I had messed up my numbers on my prompts so continued to muddle it up the whole thing :( Will deffo do a video sharing my experience of selling a house with solar, etc.
Great video - thanks! You mentioned you can export 5kw - and that's really interesting - I thought 3.68 was a hard limit for one phase. Do you know what the max is on g99?
@@andybrown668 3.68 is the limit without approvals. G99 approvals and export levels will depend on the local infrastructure (i.e. approved exports in your area using the same infrastructure), then the fuse at your house will be the other limiting factor.
Is export to grid as you say your is restricted to 5kw, is it for whole day or per hour? What I am not sure about this export restriction, like if you have 5kw system which let’s say is generating 5kwh, you are on holidays for couple of week and your sys😢is generating like 100kw/day for 14 days, will you get money for 1400kw which your system exported? Or just for 70kwh as your export is restricted? Sorry if you find this question very basic Thanks
The restriction is the size of array you can have connected to the grid / the level of export per hour. So for example, if you had a 5kW restriction, but you had a 9kW solar array you would need to have a G100 (in the UK anyway) restriction device to make sure only 5kW of the potential 9kW is sent to the grid. TLDR for your example, you would get the 1400 kW.
