Is it safe to do an Eeprom reset on a tv if you messed up your colour settings in the service menu of your TV?

I have a desktop PC with a HDMI into a HDMI splitter (SpeaKa proffessional HDMI-Splitter) and the out-ports into 2 monitors, but they are showing the exact same thing even though i have it set-up as a secondary display, i want it to extend my desktop so i can do stuff on both monitor's but it isn't working. I have Nvidia drivers, windows 10 and running on a Nvidia GeForce GTX 960. Do you have any idea what the problem is?

How do we use EDID on out tv? What are the standard settings for using EDID? This is a bit confusing on what EDID actually does or is used for?

EDID should really communicate automatically with other devices on your AV system. It's role is to 'handshake' with other connected devices in order for them to understand the best output for your TV. If your connected devices have EDID functionality, they should communicate automatically and you sholdn't need to make any setting changes.

HowToAV.tv Thank for the reply. So I have a RCA 50” 4K UHD tv I just got and it has some setting options for what they call “EDID Switch”, the options are “Default”, “Standard”, and “Advanced”. So Im just wondering what the different options for this mean and what do they do? TV is RCA 50” model #RLDED5098-UHD

I just discovered this setting in my tv while changing from Wi-Fi to LAN, I found this and HDMI CEC, Both of which were switched off. I've always thought I bought a HDR tv but could never get anything I plugged in to agree with that, it would always say 4K 30FPS and no HDR, I noticed these 2 settings and googled away. CEC doesn't matter to me but EDID, the second I switched it on my input device was able to recognize 4K UHD 60 FPS HDR. I've had this TV almost a year and my question is why the F@$# was this settings native state off. What fool sells a product and has its capacity for performance limited as standard. Being my first 4K TV, I had no idea this setting or the system it controlled could be turned off. Any smart device these days talks to anything you plug it into, but it defeats the purpose of plug and play if you plug the latest media device into your TV and your TV says HI, IM A PIECE OF CRAP, NOT AT ALL THE NICE NEW FANGLED THING MY OWNER PAID FOR! Is my TV being lazy or are its designers absolute idiots? Id love to hear your thoughts and anybody else who has had a similar experience!
