Yes, but the Problem many Shops missunderstood the real meaning of tropentarn. And often they call 3ft also Wüstentarn. Since some years it is getting better 😊.

Funny enough, since Germany has been getting dryer and dryer, there's very short amounts of time where Flecktarn can truly shine in german nature, as it's much too dark for most environments. Over greater distances in the shadow you'll just stand out as a unnaturally dark blob, and in lighter areas the vegitation tends to be far too bright to harmonize with the classic 5-Farb With the development of "Multitarn" (A adaptation of the Multicam Color pattern into the Flecktarn shape) they have been trying to counteract that, however there's no widespread issue in sight anytime soon. The Classic 5-Farb is a beautiful pattern, to bad it'll have to be replaced at some point :(

I wore a Flecktarn parka at a festival and someone did this to me from behind, got me pretty confused. The next guy asking if he could lick my shoulder ( I mean the skin) shortly after, wearing a mankini made from tape, made it the wierdest combination of conversations I have had in my life. A fun story though

As a German conscript 2005, we always thought US digital camo was way more stylish than German flecktarn.

Yes, the ,"Tropentarn" Uniform, is lighter and wider than the standard one. It is also treated with anti tick chemicals, because of this it is also called "Vektorenschutz"

Sadly most Surplus companies have scalped all the prices. A jacket goes for like 45 USD alone in the U.S. now. It definitely is a nostalgic camo but does work decent in the mid west

I know these Times (i'am German) Reason is that post Cold War/90/early 2000 Supply is drying up ) And never Models of Clothing will be destroyed for a bunch of Reasons instead of going into surplus

you should allways consider for what the camo was made german forests are usually very dark green and dark,with brown sandy ground so in that enviroment that is actually god tier the american bdu for example wont fit into german forests that well but i bet it would suit the forests in oregan for example very well

@@LarsLoveToMosh I am honestly relatively sure that we'll see a bunch of surplus 5FD in the next few years. 5FD was not licensed and was copied by the Chinese - hence their camo looks similar. Also a bunch of surplus ended up in opposing forces hands, which is why the Bundeswehr will be issuing a new standard camo, called Multitarn, which will never become available to anyone but the Bundeswehr. Special Forces have already been issued the new camo.

I plan to. I wanted to gather more information however before making any statements on the history of it.

As of now, only the KSK, MSK, EGS and chosen Airborne units are equipped with it. Widespread use is not planned.

@enterring9874 what are your sources on this? I chose not to include any information on what was used in WW2 because most sources say it was just based on pea dot and that was used as inspiration. As for why it was adopted sooner, the Bundeswehr from the 50's to the fall of the Berlin wall was ill fitted because their only point was to slow a Russian advance and allow U.S. and other Allies to reach the front. They essentially weren't supposed to last long at all

Also to add to this, the West German army was modeled alot off of the U.S. who also didn't heavily use camouflage BDUs until the 80's. Yes there are cases of camo being used in both, but it was very rare

@@lowkxy. the SS was using the so called Plane tree Pattern since 1938 after development from 1935 - 1936 and testing from 1936 - 1937 as stated here de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flecktarn, and i am very aware that until the 80s the Bundeswehr was just a downgraded version of the US Army as i am German myself this caused and is still causing quite a bit of distrust between our allied nations since some declassified documents show us pretty much just as a meat shield. But still very good video 👍

To be honest most of Nato did standardized on Solid Green until at least the Mid 1970 before everyone switched to camos on a bigger scale

​@@lowkxy.Yo sup, while you're right that it contains 6 colors, we do not refer to it as 6-FTD or anything related to it with the number 6. The official name of Multitarn is "Mulitarndruck". On Lindnerhof Pouches it says "M-TD" as short version of Multitarndruck. If you trynna link up for any infos or references lmk. :)

I plan to do a separate video on it. There is very little information on the pattern right now and I don't even know if they call it 6 farb (it does have 6 colors in it). I absolutely will do another video I just want to have the right information.
