Good video. I use only FCC but this is nice to know how to use the software suite to change firmware if needed. Thanks!

Great video, as usual. Many thanks Darren!!!! When Flex is installed, could you please explain what parameters (and where) should be set on my X20S (flying in Belgium) to accomodate 900M at 100mv with telemetry? For the moment I can't go above 25mv as otherwise I'm losing telemetry. I browes internet but wasn't able to find any kind of "step by step" guidelines. I'm really a beginner here. Manby thanks in advance!!!

Can you do a video on setting up a RB-40 along with a X20s.. I have no idea what I'm doing

Hi James. Unfortunately I only have an RB-20, which is a much simpler beast. But I may be able to do this in the future.

Darren, very helpful series of videos. Thanks. Im still confused about a few things. I have flex firmware on my X20s and a TDMX rx. Tried it at 100mw (868 band). Telemetry range is very poor (about 500mts) but RC signal strong. I dont know if telemetry at more than 25mw is only available with and external R9M module as manual suggests? I think because I set power to 100mw, the telemetry is only operating on the 2.4 band? Dont know if I should get an external R9M or a CRSF. I would like to get mavlink telemetry from TX to a PC. I think the CRSF can do that? Edit ***** anyway the telemetry comes back from RX so surely its more to do with how much power the RX can put out (does it try to match the TX setting?)

Just a doubt / Query - We could still use an external module like crossfire , multi v4 , etc with the FCC firmware ? Or one needs to upgrade to FLEX to use external modules.
@MrD
@MrD Год назад
External modules take care of their own RF. so it doesn’t matter.

I never had an issue where it would say LBT in the suite, its said FLEX since I put FLEX on it months ago. Also for the X20 there is a FLEX antenna available for it so you don't even need to change antennas on the TX. ACCESS receivers flashed with a FLEX transmitter update to FLEX automatically. For my ACCST receivers its LBT which was a little confusing knowing which firmware to flash to older receivers when I first went to FLEX.
@MrD
@MrD Год назад
The FLEX of the firmware part only effects the 900MHz side. So regular ACCESS receivers will still be using LBT or FCC. With ACCESS R9 receivers, you still have a FLEX firmware; even the newer MX and SX receivers. This needs to be installed to use FLEX. There is no real flex antenna. The two frequencies need different physical lengths of antenna to be optimally tuned for each frequency. What you may find is an antenna tuned around 900MHz, which has average performance for both frequencies. But would be out-performed by antennas of the same style for the correct frequency band. But if you're not pushing the range of the system, they would probably be fine. Yeah, the problem that I found is that when binding an ACCESS or ACCST 2.4GHz receiver. You have to set the FLEX side to the correct frequency, otherwise it will be trying to use the wrong region. So 868MHz for LBT or 916MHz for FCC. ACCESS will automatically switch the receiver between FCC and LBT. But ACCST needs the correct firmware on the receiver. The annoying part is that you can't set a default for the 900MHz frequency. It would be great if that was a system option. It would make setting up slightly quicker.

@@MrD The new UNI firmware for the X8R receivers brings some of the ACCESS features to that ACCST receiver and you don't have to worry about if you have LBT or FCC anymore etc... But... just going to ACCESS. Its just better. I am wondering a bit what exactly the FLEX antenna looks like honestly, I have one, but I'd probably have to pop it open with a guitar pick or something. I also have a X18SE I got from the States along with my Spain bought X20S so I've got all 3 antennas actually... might be cool to pop them all open and take pics if I manage to not break them.

Afraid of mobile phone towers that transmit on FCC frequency, i.e. 915MHz, I am going to install the Flex firmware so I can change to EU. Do I need to change the antenna inside the transmitter for the new frequency of 868MHz? Thank you.
@MrD
@MrD Год назад
Everything needs to be on the same frequency. You also need to use the correct length antenna. If you have an FCC radio, it’s best to stick with 915MHz.
@josephsaliba602
@josephsaliba602 Год назад
@@MrD even if here in EU 915MHz is used for mobile phones?
@MrD

If you’re in the EU, you should be using 868MHz already.

You should be able to buy the handle, which has the 900MHz antenna inside, as a spare part.

I laughed my ass off when I opened this video very funny thanks. So I’ve been doing some research on mfd min crossbow. I’ve had mine for a while just was saving for winter project. Unfortunately mfd telefly tinny module have a very limited manual they don’t even tell u what the buttons do on the module. So the easiest way I see to get this thing track is to wire tinny into video after f/c before vtx. Tft takes gps info and push’s it down video. So that gives aat something to track. Simple enough. Now I like inav osd tft has osd to so they say I can use any osd as long as line zero is open for tft to send gps data. Was just woundeing what u know about aat and inav any tips or suggestions be greatly appreciated thank. Steroids shrink your wiener that’s why I never touched it I’m bad off in that department lol I think I have everything ready to go ground station is ready gonna wire up tft today so we see really hope it works I would really like to move to 1.3 vtx but not sure how well that’s gonna play with crossfire maybe ok have more separation with antennas have a few different notch filters. I’ll get 5.8 working first may not need to switch would be nice to have the penetration of 1.3 but I was getting good range before with 5.8 8 miles with 13dbi patches on goggles. I really hope 6.0 is that much better can’t wait to take if for a spin happy new year

Hi Aaron. Awesome. That's what I like to do with some of these video thumbnails. Have a bit of fun and make people laugh. I've not used the MFD ATT/Telefly system. However, on analogue video it should work fine. Just have the telefly after the FC and before the VTx like you said, and leave the line of characters at the top empty. I know the Sentinal system works in a similar way. With a thin data line across the top of the OSD. Plenty of people use 1.3 with Crossfire. So long as you use a low pass filter on the VRx (Video Aerial Systems and TBS have them), and have a bit of separation, you should be fine. Happy new year.
