The theme of this Sunday Gathering is “What is Forgiveness?” based on the Workbook of A Course in Miracles. The Course reframes and challenges our conventional notion of forgiveness and, in this message, Emily Perry covers (1) what forgiveness is in A Course in Miracles, (2) how the Course defines unforgiveness, and (3) how we can learn to let go of our painful wounds once and for all.
We invite you to join our FREE Sunday Gatherings on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from 11am - 12pm Eastern. Sunday Gatherings can be accessed via our online community and learning platform at community.circleofa.org (free account required).

True, we have to do nothing. In my experience I have observed the repetition of a situation in my life, very similar form by the way, so I think it was presenting once more because I haven’t learned the lesson. I held a grievance against someone and stopped talking to them, but that didn’t give me peace. So, I asked the Holy Spirit for help. And something came into mind, the thing it’s not to get rid off the person or tell them off and pointing out their sins. It’s to see them as they are, the Holy Son of God. So I came to the realization that when you truly forgive them you truly see them differently, you see them as your best friend. And after asking every minute to replace fear with love, I received a phone call from her and it was like talking to my best friend. And like the Course said, only a little willingness is required to ask the Holy Spirit for help and he will take care of the rest. And sure he did, I just have to trust and wait.

I have intractable resentment towards the people who have raised me. A seeming virus in my very genes where rage never fails to come up like bile. Undoing CPTSD requires a miracle, and I still reach for this, a miracle. I had a glimpse of freedom once, but it is still a problem. This is what I have expereinced so far; anger resolves into grief, grief resolves into emptiness. And my accusor, my tormentor becomes an object of love because they are not the ones who blocked love, it was a mistake of typical days, human ways. I wanted to love and could not because they do not know what love is. This is not normal, it is beyond this world. Where there is hate towards another there I find instead the grief of not being able to love a monster, and seeing that I only wanted to love a person who hated me brings grief. Seeing the grief as a longing to love the "unlovable" somehow opens up the impossible, and that means seeing my desire to love as the first step in real forgivness. Forgive the violence, forgive the psychopaths, which also means to forgive God for allowing us to be this way. It takes practice to give anger over to a new view. I am never upset for the reasons I think, but to find the alternative view takes a Guide, a wing on a prayer.

What to do with someone who really hurts us or others? It sounds here as if no one does anything wrong and it all a story of the mind. So how should we react to violent people? 🙏
