Dying Light 2's focus needs to be recreating the charm that gave Dying Light 1 its identity. Beyond the heavily discussed nighttime experience, the exploration and environmental storytelling aspect is the heaviest miss from Dying Light 2. Think about how varied the slums area alone was in DL1 - the grassy mountain, the bridge, the tunnels, the fishing village, the Tower and nearby street shops, the apartment complexes, the grocery store, the water shacks where Gazi lived, etc etc And within that varied, ever changing and inspired/imaginative map? There were secret rooms, secret caves, small discoveries to make and places to explore. The whole game was like this. And throughout the whole game's multiple maps: interesting and explorable interiors filled w culture and insight that told a story of what happened. Broken furniture and cupboards mostly empty, broken tvs and ripped cushions, half packed suitcases, suicide victims. Sometimes multiple suicide victims holding hands or holding a photo. There was meaning in the exploration. This gave the dead world a feeling of sorrowful LIFE, and it was capturing players' imaginations. All of this worked alongside the great atmosphere, sad/quiet/eerie/peaceful soundtrack, lighting, and interactions with survivors that felt gritty and grounded when they talked about the fearsome nighttime (and it was true) The vibe of being in the game and living in a world that really felt like a zombie apocalypse - focused on the zombies - is what kept ppl coming back. I just wish TL had focused on making more of this unique world in a different setting, rather than making something so different it no longer felt like Dying Light, but just like any zombie game instead

Hey gamers, you need to stop accepting developers releasing unfinished games, then announcing patches, QOL updates, and mechanics as if it was actual content. If developers took more time with their game, then less of this would happen. I blame COD, GTA V, and fortnite

the outfits are cool but, if you look closely, you'll see that they're almost ALL reskins of an already existing outfit in the game, for example for the clown outfit, everything except for the mask is a reskin of a couple of gears oh and, the chicken outfit is a reskin of a renegade (just google dl2 renegade plague doctor and it'll be the first image you see, literally) and yeah when i realized that all the outfits were basically just reskinned gear, i got kinda disapointed..

My game fades to black every time I die or sleep. I grinded out to legend level 68 but I can’t deal with restarting the game. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon but I’m out for now. Sad because I have almost 500 hours but I can’t restart the game each time I turn it to night

I’m really excited for the gore and combat upgrade. Hopefully will make it much more satisfying to kill zombies. I also hope the new DLC will be similar to the Following in DL1. I swear if it’s another human centric story, or just challenges I’m going to be done with this game.

These updates are cool but i really want more change to the open world, i feel the buildings are all too samey. There were obviously repeats in the first game but the second somehow feels more. It's a shame as you could tell they put a tonne of effort into em

I think 2023 is gonna be the year where we find out whether DL2 is worth having hope for. So far, it's been very disappointing with their repetitive events and the first DLC.

im so glad they aren't giving up on dl2. dl1 also had similar problems on it's first year but them creating more and more content made the game good. dl2 has a lot of potential. me and my friends sometimes just log in when we're bored and just parkour around.

So dumb question but I haven’t played since release still, am I still able to get the Crain outfit and other outfits? Or is it a limited time only and gone forever

I'm very excited for the future of this game, Techland has been listening to the community. Mainly excited for the parkour update and the DL2. That parkour update especially, hot damn.

I’m hoping the combat brutality upgrade in April comes at least somewhere close to as gory and bloody as dead island 2 but if not oh well

I’m happy it’s getting better, even if it should’ve been better from the start. The second dlc may make it or break it for some people. So I really hope it delivers. I’m also looking forward to their next game, mainly because they can take a lot of what didn’t work in DL2 and improve on it for the new ip. Overall, it’s good to see that they still support the game. Other studios probably would’ve dropped it by now. Best of luck to the devs

Something I wanna point out for the chicken event video, the blood ( hey hey don’t look at me like that ) looks different to me? Idk just- looks different, almost darker and way more of it? could just be me

All I know is after this, I'm not putting any hope towards DL3. Techland had the perfect blueprint to make an amazing sequel, and somehow ended up removing and ruining previously established features and things that made DL1 great. The fact its been 1 year, and so many previously implemented features are still missing.. Its preposterous.. But I love how people think this buggy dumpster fire will somehow work on Switch though. That always gets a laugh out of me!

I just want to know if they fix the co-op yet? Like is it full real Coop now where I can progress together with my friends and unlock everything together with my friends or is it still to wear only the host can unlock things and then your friends have to progress and unlock things on their own time?

Today after 1 year i played the game once again and im really surprised how the updates helped with FPS on my 3060 ti with 1440p Ray tracing + DLSS balanced i literally have around 65-67 stable fps , 1 year ago it was around 50 if i remember right

To me DL1 was/still the benchmark of zombie games.. i got super excited when DL2 was announced and i Pre-ordered the ultimate edition because i wanted to Support the devs with the success and amazement they left on me from DL1, i stopped playing DL2 after 10 days from its release.. i have never been more disappointed .. I forced my self to finish the game, just so i can convince myself that i tried to enjoy it !

What I didn't like about Techland this time is that they toned down the night time, dying light 1 is so scary that it makes people to just head over safe houses and skip the night. IT WAS PERFECT. And by the time you progress and be stronger, playing at night time is very rewarding not only it gives you points but it also gives you the feeling of overcoming your fear and fight volatiles cursing them to death (it was fun). In dying light 2, the only thing that bothers me at night time was the bio stupid markers.

I don't know if anyone in the old gen after the update, still have problems with the audio going mute sometimes o buggin out, because now the game plays and runs smoothly but now sometimes my game goes mute, or the sound just sound like something is exploding, hope they fix this on the old gen consoles, and I don't know if in the next gen someone has this problems

I stopped playing this game because I kept getting a really annoying sound bug where voices played before the cutscene even started and continued after the cutscene was over and the NEVER ENDING sound of the glider drove me crazy.

Chicken outfit? What makes them think I want to run around like an idiot?? I spend $25CDN just to get the Rambo haircut in Far Cry 6. Now that I know the passionate team that made Dying Light is not the same team that made Dying Light 2, I gave up hope we'll get a "Beyond The Walls" dlc The Following style, (an almost full second game). We'll probably just get a number of thin updates and dlc bandages. To patch a game that reached only half of its potential.

All I wish for in DL2 is that Enemies will drop their weapons and not just being "inside" their inventory, so you don't need to search each body for each weapon. Same goes for Throwing Weapon skill from DL1, but it's not likely to make it back...

I just started playing the game again since the release and I've been loving the game so much more than I did back then. We need Techland to implement something to enable and disable certain perks that you don't want since we had to buy every perk to unlock legend levels, that would be amazing

Dying light 2 needs a location like the bridge from the first game. That’s where a good 50% of the games fun was had with your friends. Just a place with a large number of zombies and high up places to jump off of and secrets to find like the extra part of the bridge with all the medkits.

Not very optimistic about Dying Light 2 anymore. The Grapple Throw doesn't work properly, and audio ques for any action takes 5 minutes to catch up. Fucking GREAT GAME!

Funny thing is that the legend levels aren't actually fixed really, you still get locked out of them

If the second story dlc is great and a success. I hope we maybe can get more story dlcs in 2024. I miss single players games that had great and enjoyable story dlcs like Fallout new vegas. Old World Blues, Honest hearts and Dead Money and lonesome road... Excellent story dlcs.

I think one important thing going into DL2 was = Techland has been received relatively positive and never been met with a lot of negativity before DL2 - sometimes you gotta be dealt with a bad hand to grow and learn 😊

The one thing DL2 can or rather NEEDS to do to maintain good reviews and a solid playerbase is *more areas* we need more areas to parkour and explore

I just want an fov slider in the series S version, man. It's the sole reason I haven't been playing it. That being said, I might just dabble into it just a little bit to see how it is.

I dont like the Paraglider system, sure I could just play without it, but seeing how the environment is build uppon it takes away the fun for me. But there is still Dead Island 2 I look forward to, so all good.

I feel like they tried too hard to make a good game, so they started making bad decisions thinking it would make the game better. They have released certified bangers. But dl2 for me, just feels way too rushed and you can tell they made a lot of bad choices while making this game.

This game was dead to me the moment I finished it. There was no real replayability except for occasional messing around with friends but otherwise nothing to do anymore.

I just hope that they make the night more terrifying. First dying light I avoided the night as much as I could. The 2nd game it feels too bright & the night isn’t scary at all

Its truly sad. This game needed more time. Imagine if DL2 released right now with all these updates already worked in.. The DLC content would've been so much better that they could've spent the time. DLC 1 probably would've been a bigger zone than what we got. More zombies involved. But DL2 for the first year and it looks like year 2 is basically they catching up on what should've been there day 1.. Feels like we all got duped into playing the early access version while paying the full price of a fully developed game.. Like... I want to play this... But every time I boot it up, im just bored after a few minutes. If they can't pull me back in this year and like you said, if DLC 2 is a fail.. Ill be done with DL2. Techland in general. I already know that im not buying their next / new fantasy game day 1.. But if DLC2 fails, I dont think ill touch Techlands games again... Not about to keep getting fucked over by blindly following these Developers.

Why does it feel like gravity is now heavier? Is that just me?

I LOVE Dying Light 1... but Dying Light 2 is great in it's own way. It's just different IMO. It's still fun AF though... It has a more "humanity is on the ups" type feel vs Harran and it's "end of humanity" type feel, you know? Civilization rebuilding is happening. It's less horror and more action/parkour. Anyways, they are both great in their own unique ways. DL2 def was not a failure and is a lot of fun to play. Also, DL1 was made when life was great. Things were always heading down the tubes for humanity slowly, but people didn't really listen (and there's not much humanity can do anyways as far as us normal people are concerned) and we didn't feel the effects of our own little realistic "downfall" until 2020-ish. Lots of opinions on that but regardless of differences, everybody can pretty much agree that life SUCKED then and is STILL sucking now... and some very bad people are doing very bad things to us all... I can't imagine it would be easy to develop a game as good as DL2 was during a time where you feel like your own world is ending, you know? There were a lot of hurdles for us all and I don't mind Techland lacking in some ways in regards to DL2. I'm surprised they even put out a project instead of cancelling it and closing up shop like so many other small-businesses/non-mainstream businesses did. Even my own small/mid-sized business I work for ended up selling out to a large corporate DC-based investment firm - unfortunately, as according to plan. :( So, props to them for doing what they did during times like then/these. Props to them for continuing to exist as a company too. :)

Techland needs to give us cross saves alot of new players could be getting a new console Xbox or PlayStation or steam deck they need cross saves so players can keep playing instead of starting over from scratch and I only say that because on the older versions of game’s certain costumes aren’t available in the last gen version but the newer gen does tho

Considering when this game was released...It's still hopeful that they can fix it? How is this a good thing? Release a supposed finished game, and instead...well..they lied and it's a mess, and takes years to fix? And now this is ok, acceptable, a 'good' game. What???? It sucks. Period. I am new to dying light 2 but am loving it so far. I absolutely love the progression and feeling my character getting stronger. So far my only gripe is that I wish there was more weapon variety (but keep in mind that I haven't even gotten a paraglider yet so Im fairly early in the game). Im looking forward to the future updates and I think I joined this community at the perfect time

I just bought it 2 days ago and i very mad at myself that I did. I am a big fan of the series but this game doesnt run very well on a ps4. A lot of the time enemies freeze or the dialog wont play and other stuff. I wanted to buy this game after I buying a ps5 but thats not happening anytime soon.

It's ridiculous that it took this long to fix the busted combat and physics. Combat is so dumb when fighting humans and the infected don't really put up a fight with the humans expect for Aiden who can get slapped around like a toddler playing doge ball with high schoolers.
