I live in Southern California and there’s a city with a huge Japanese population and they have stores like this one you showcased! How cool, most items you were showing I could find at supermarkets that I like to frequent. Thanks for showing off a Japanese supermarket

Thanks Norm, that was fun! I'm always surprised at Japan's fruit prices--always. I think if I ever visited, I would just have to go to a farm or farmer's market stand or something, lol. I love all the rice and curry dishes--I would definitely eat a lot of those. Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream for the win! Glad you and Sherri had a great time--I loved the bloopers!!

I’m one of those viewers that live vicariously through your videos and I wanted to thank you for putting your heart and soul into them! It really brightens my day when I watch one... or seven. 😄 Your enthusiasm is wonderfully contagious! I would love to see a longer video and maybe you could answer a question of mine? I would really love to visit Japan one day, but there’s just one problem. I have MCS and to avoid migraines at all cost I only eat organic food. In the States we have the USDA Organic seal to let consumers know that the product is certified organic. Is there something like that in Japan?

As a Japanese American, 1) Had no idea that spirits were so cheap there, 2) Going to ignore the whole short Japanese eggplant vs. long North American eggplant thing ;-p , 3) I can't believe Sherry doesn't like natto. シェリーさん、どうして納豆が嫌いのだな？めっちゃうまいのに！ Thanks again for the super-entertaining vid, Norm!

An interesting upload. I am a Japanese national who lives in Toronto, ON, Canada. The first things I noticed about this Japanese supermarket, in comparison with my local Toronto supermarkets 1. space between aisles is rather narrow 2. the floor is white, shiny, and clean 3. the ceiling is rather low. Another thing I want to mention is that (as for candy/snack sections) up till I moved here to Toronto, I had never ever seen ketchup flavored potato chips in Japan (they are just gross....). I miss those end-of-the-day marked down bentos!

We went to Aeon supermarket at Urayasu when we were in Japan, it was fun. 1 thing we notice though, the amount of plastic bags the shop use, while here in England now we try to not use plastic bag at all.

Man, I've been in the Rox building several times and have actually eaten at that Choco-Cro but had no idea there was a market there. Love exploring markets and seeing what they have. One thing I really enjoy is finding US brands being sold and checking out how they change the name and labels. Dannon's Bio yogurt is called Activa in the USA as an example.

A supermarket shopping haul might actually be interesting! I remember I was totally overwhelmed when I stayed in Japan and didn't know what I should get. I took me a while to figure out all the different soup styles, furikake flavors, curry options... if you showed some of your favorites, it might give people an idea what to try. ;)

For the three nights I spent in Tokyo I ate home-made kaisendon. Go to Seiyuu or Ikiiki around 8 pm, grab discounted sashimi and cooked rice. Don't forget to grab the free soy sauce, wasabi.and ginger. Typically 500-600 yen total

That's the supermarket I always go to when I come to Tokyo and stay in Asakusa. It's my favorite one in the area. I'm looking forward to taking my little brother through there to see what he thinks. And it makes so much sense that it's owned by Wal-Mart, I remember thinking it was weird that there were so many Wal-Mart brand items there. Are all Seiyu owned by Wal-Mart or just that one? Hi Norm! I love your guest every time I see her ^^ Oh man, there's still so much Japanese food I don't know of, that I want a video on more of it. Seiya reminds me of Uwajimaya in Seattle! Uwajimaya is full of other items like gifts, kitchenware, and it also has it's own cafeteria for shoppers! Theres also a cute little book store/gift store within its walls. Hiya I enjoy longer videos as I tend to watch RU-vid while I'm doing other things, like cooking or the dishes. And I just love Sherry's energy so definitely look forward to more collabs. Ooh also the discounted bentos in the evening was such a good tip for people travelling on a budget or students on an exchange. They're such a good price anyway though, the bentos in my local supermarket are £10+ (though to be fair they are made fresh in a kitchen you can peep into). X

Seiyu's the best! Typically has the cheapest prices compared to other supermarkets. I normally go to the one located in Nakano Broadway.

I've been to Tokyo 3 times, then the pandemic put an end to that. the alleys are my favorite because it's an honest look at the city, no one expects a tourist to seek out alleys. But now that things are back to normal I'm aiming for a return in January.

I remember Seiyu in the 80s, pre-walmart, and it was more of a total department store with just the grocery stuff in the basement. Once I took the escalator down to the food area and saw a big, still-living sea turtle being butchered.
