Hi! I am currently a graduate student for IO Psychology. I will be done in May of 2025. What career could I go into currently in order for me to gain some experience and build my resume for when I do obtain my master’s? I currently have a BA in Psychology. Thank you in advance! Loved your video❤️ #subscribed

You are such a joy to listen to! Thanks for explaining this is in such a way that is easy to understand! It has helped me to decide which masters program I want to pursue, and I am more and more convinced that I/O psychology is the route to take.

I loved this I am so excited to start listening to more of your podcast. I am an undergrad psychology major applying to a master's IO program right now. I am not 100% sure on what part of IO psych I want to do but I know I want to travel! Are there any specializations I should look into?
@tiannatye8037
@tiannatye8037 3 года назад
Genuinely, I recommend looking into whatever stands out to you as you complete your studies. Pay attention to which projects you love and which you hate. I have successful colleagues across the spectrum of I/O and it boils down to choosing a specialty that energizes you. Mine happens to be remote teams and leadership!

This was SO helpful in more ways then you know! Literally, your story is so similar to mine, and I needed that. From clinical undergrad, to neuro because I am such a brain geek, I love neuro, it lights me up but for some reason not professionally, I realized I didn’t want to do therapy, etc, with individuals. I didn’t know what to do for grad. Then it hit me one day, I had taken a single I/o psych class in undergrad (10 years ago) and at the time I thought, I will never do this, business is so boring I want to be clinical. Yet, a decade later, here I am a business woman who loves helping my accounts and clients with their business. I’d been wanting to go to grad school but couldn’t decide for what, and then I remembered the I/o class and I was like, Omgosh that’s it, I naturally work with my accounts and clients like this. So I began looking into it and it actually lights me up. Now I’m starting my grad in I/o and I’m psyched. Thank you so much for to story! #Subscribed ❤

This was helpful! I'm in a clinical psych (PsyD) program, and I have interest in i/o psych, and I have also heard that i/o psych questions are on our EPPP licensing exam so it is a path/field i can see myself tapping into over time

Hey gaurav! This sounds super similar to my interests too - I am thinking of applying to the io masters program at usc because of the courses offered. Did you find a good fit for what you were searching for?

Just a question if people with masters in psychology call themselves psychologist then what do people with phds in psychology call themselves?
@tiannatye8037
@tiannatye8037 3 года назад
Such a great question! The title has a lot of ambiguity for sure and there are a ton of different perspectives on the topic! Generally speaking, the main requirement is a MA, Psy.D., Ed.D., of Ph.D. to be referred to a psychologist, but the tendency to do so depends on the type (i.e. Clinical is totally different)! I/O psych doesn't require additional licensure or accreditation post-grad so you're more likely to hear the term used! My colleagues who have Ph.D.'s refer to themselves as Dr. INSERT NAME, I/O Psychologist.

Hello Tianna. I loved the video. Was searching a long time for this video. It helped me so much. I just wanted to know whether the companies while hiring I/O psychology graduates require us to have an MBA or another business degree. and also aren't all the job mentioned in the video already looked into by the HR? so will the companies prefer I/O graduates over HR?. Please answer this. I am confused whether i should choose I/O or clinical. And also does I/O have a lot of statistics?

Okay, I hear your passion so I'll go ahead and ask.. I work in healthcare, as an executive assistant, what are your thoughts on how an I/O Psychologist would be valuable within a hospital setting? No one has answered this question for me thus far..though a bit concerned about the potential need for an advanced understanding of statistics, I'm cautiously optimistic about this degree track, and right now it's this versus Knowledge Management...Thanks in advance Tianna Tye.
@tiannatye7128
@tiannatye7128 3 года назад
I/Os often consult in the pharmaceutical/healthcare sector so I’d imagine there’s opportunity in hospital systems as well. I think the key is specializing... so if you excel in change management, or leadership development, or cross functional team work... you’d take that expertise and consult! Definitely search for examples of this and uncover if it’s all external consulting or if there are internal opportunities as well

There's a whole are of I/O that is related to health! Also, there is plenty of research focus on the experience of healthcare workers, recovery experiences for the well-being of nurses, healthcare policy and how that impacts employees, etc. I/O psychology can be applied in almost any setting!

@@tiannatye7128 HI, I am currently doing my master's in I/O psychology and I would like to say I/o psychology would apply to a health care setting especially with issues of diversity and inclusiveness or any other employee oppression situations in healthcare.
