That was quite an interesting video. It reminded me of our life in Moldova. I am an American who moved to Moldova three years ago. My wife and I live in a village home where we grow our own crops, pick our own fruit, raise our own chickens, gather our own nuts and berries, and make our own wine. It's a simple life filled with simple pleasures. I love it.

The fact that you found a wife in today’s modern age who will agree to live with you in the village in a simple life is miraculous. I say 1 in 10 million odds. You’re a lucky man.
Your phone videos have nice clear picture, thanks for the look around these village homes! I know you were uncomfortable trespassing a little, maybe not harming anybody peeking in on these abandoned lots and ruined buildings and I appreciate your efforts Olga. Ukraine is always a beautiful and interesting place.
Most countries offer better prices for land than here in the UK, here it's very expensive, I went to see friends in Indiana, my friends have a bungalow with a large barn and close on eight acres of land, they paid around$100,000, over here that would fetch over a million
@@andrewgage6942 You’re comparing USA to UK that is just stupid. Of course, the bigger the country is the cheaper lands are sold. UK has a small landscape.
I want to buy a house and property in Ukraine, so I'm watching all your videos about that. At the end of this video, you mentioned prices, with an example, living one hour from New York city, or Chicago. Coincidentally, yesterday a man told me he lives a one hour drive from New York, and I told him, I grew up, a one hour drive, from Chicago. I then went on to tell him, how similar those cities are. However now, there are not any small villages, only a one hour drive away, as there was, approximately fifty years ago. In Ukraine, they are still all over. There are even areas of Kiev, that have forests and lakes, where hardly any people go to. I think I will have to consult with you, in future. I know a woman in Kiev, who is a real estate agent, however, she doesn't speak English, and I don't speak Russian well. Also, I can tell, you are someone that can be trusted.
The reason for being close to a big city is you are always guranteed to be able to buy groceries. Depending on a village store can be risky. I knew of a small town where the general store closed for half the year because business was slow during the winter months.
Olga, Like your channel because it shows your country. The first house is what we call a "knock down". These are bought here for the land . The house is knocked down and a new house is built. You should mention if the house or apartment come with city water or well water ,gas for heating and cooking and if the plumbing (toilet and waste water go into a sewer which would go to a treatment plant or out to a septic system. Thanks. 🇺🇸
If i was to choose any area to buy a home in Ukraine I would choose near odessa. Its warmer and I like the sea in the summer. Mariupol was one of my favorites but I have not been for some years.

Olga thank you for your informative videos. I'm an American single, divorced man 70. My grand parents moved from Ukraine around the first world war. Grandpa was a coal miner in Pennsylvania , built a house w/ running water, coal heated w/ same kitchen stove and an outhouse. We visited in the summer, was stinky outhouse toilet. Can't imagine walking in snow to put my butt on an icy cold toilet seat.
Here in the U.S.A. those old, cheap houses are called "fixer-uppers". However, some of those super cheap houses I don't see how anybody would spend the money to fix it up. There is an old saying: "Don't throw good money after bad."
Good info Olga, those houses you showed would be condemned here and no one would be allowed to live in them. I must assume that people would buy them just for the land and build a modern house on the site.
Houses like that in the UK would be a builder's dream and usually sell at auction. Mind you, getting mains water connected costs £5000 but that would be a minor investment given the profit on a new house on a plot that size . I am assuming the bulldozer (mentioned in another comment) got there first:)
We did buy house for 13000 $, did pay for new watertube to supply from kommune. We have used the house for living in 5 years, saved money and now we do build new house after western standard. New house will be ready in 1 year - payed cash.
Thank you for sharing Olga:)) very beautiful video of the city and all the people:)) the city reminds me of Prague with the cobblestone streets... amazing shops with the chocolates:))
Okay, Olga. I think I'll keep thinking about a house in the 5,000 to 10,000 dollar price range. Like they say, you get what you pay for. Maybe you can do a video on the price of newer houses or how much to build a house of your own design with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and equipped with heat, water, and electricity.

Here's another way of looking at it. It's $1,000 for the land. You could knock the old buildings down, clear out the lot and build a new house on the land.
I don't really think you can really make too much money even with a renovation project. I believe though Kiev is offering a lot of opportunities with fantastic yields. The mortgage market is still underdeveloped and prices in USD terms are down by more 70% since 2008. But in Kiev as an investment. Buying in a village is more of a lifestyle choice.
Very good advice about looking for a place away from Kyiv, there are lots of places that are more affordable. Even kharkiv has places 30 minutes drive away that are affordable, go to a village outside of Sumy and the prices will be so much less than Kyiv and you get more for your money. Lots of the villages have a small shop or magazine as they call them where you can buy very basic things but stuff like eggs and milk you buy locally, you can even buy some meat , especially chicken in the village so if you grow vegetables it's not so difficult. The chernozem soil is amazing and grows beautiful croos
The cute thing is you're explaining such things like for the very slow minded))) If someone doesn't even know that they need to be on the lookout for the most basic things such as water, electricity and heating to live decently, then the last thing they should be doing is trying to buy a house, specially in a foreign country that they know almost nothing about.
😂True, but some people do not think about it. They consider that for sure there is hot water, bathroom, heating... but house just old, so that is why someone selling it cheap
It's hard to believe that in countries such as the UK we had outside toilets and tin baths and had to boil a kettle to fil it up and that was on buildings up to the 1950's
As freedom dies in USA ,the Ukraine a Christian Country People with moral values ,seems like a desired destination for un attached Americans with a European background. I have 20 plus years of Construction of all phases a great opportunity! Thank You ,for your Video!
To live in, when you build a new house from ground, this is good offers. We did pay 13.000 $, but its in a town with everything, near a big town with 1 million people. We are close to river (beach) and great forrest. To get privatisation of ground and building licence take time, but it's so cheap to build. If you build in gasbeton, you can make a dasha for nothing. Try to consider to make a house, witch are warn in winter - heating are not very cheep in Ukraine. We do build with 200 mm gasbeton, 150 mm minirslwool and Nice bricks.
@@shaahmadi9268 You clearly haven’t checked my page.Just making videos about both ends of live in Crimea.I don’t know you as you might be whatever but my page says it all who am I .I have bragging but I spend two weeks in the most expensive hotels in Crimea and a night in a friends granny Soviet motel .Last text to you so relax.
That was a good video I enjoyed it so much but for all the wrong reasons. My interest is in the outskirts of Odessa or Bila Tserkva with a budget of 80 000 - 100 000 US. On at least 1 - 5 square acres of land. Oh and with a throne and running water.
Nice video ever i seen dear OLGA.. great real facts of village life....not manipulated..remembrance of each developing country village life...wow...I want to relocate dear frend...it is not a biggest thing to live in palace houses..it only need dream to do..that dreams everyone usually has...but live small like this need the courage and challenging attitude in our heart and charactor..that courage and power usually no one has today..so I prefer to come ukraine and live in this old home and do farming everywhere there in free land...😘 great video like my dream..thanks....
Ohh sorry spelling mistakes was v before your name olga. I heard olga knows more about imigration law and helps toomany guys to migrate for small business or jobs
Olga, If someone buys a house in the Ukraine and it needs some repairs, are contractors needed to do the repairs or can they do the repairs themselves.
Hey Olga, When I was in Ukraine, I spent a lot of time in Novi Petrivtsi, a suburb of Kyiv which seemed nice and wealthy, almost like an American suburb May I ask you if you know about the prices of housing there?
U can get a house in a better shape in the Western part of Ukraine for a a few grand. Well water but there is electricity of course. 30-45 min by bus from a big city.

I think you can just put that on your credit card. I can see a lot of American property pirates salivating about these properties. A little mud and paint and flip for 20x
@@patrickmclaughlin6013 Is the Housing market that good over there to be able to flip them I mean in the villages, I do realize in the cities they are moving well but thats because they are all wanting to leave the villages for work
Thanks Olga. What about property taxes and building regulations, things like that? You'll sell a lot of those houses to foreigners from places like the US.
@@clarktransport1312 thanks, will do If I'm going have to live in a commie state I might as well live in a real commie state. Ukraine country side looks beautiful and I love the old houses.
@@patrickmclaughlin6013 I understand, pretty sad when former soviet union countries are less communist than America. Likely many Americans will flee to them. Taxes in America will be unbearable and the debt will crush the dollar.
@@sfranklin1266 printing money makes its value decline. As the American government spends money they don't have, printing it they cause the value of the dollar to collapse. As we speak the dollar has lost 8% of its value since that last 3 trillion dollar deal.
I would think the house would cost about 100k also I wouldn't know cause here in my country the Netherlands everything is expensive but it's really interesting

How costly is it to build a house in the village? The villages in Ukraine are quite beautiful, but I do not like the way many houses are constructed. I am wondering if it is cheaper/efficient to build a house to your specifications, or is it too hard to find a reliable contractor?
Hy! I don't know what to call you. But i really want to know more about Ukraine village. I want to stay there for many days as possible. So could you tell me Can I able to lived with village people for few days? If necessary I'm ready to work some household work with them as well. I realy want to spend my day there. Like_talking with people, exploring the whole village, learning about their culture, or knowledge exchange, I really love all these things.
