since crossovers are semicanon in this show (with the billy and mandy one and all) I made a fun little theory that Aku gave father and grandfather their powers. I don’t think that’s the actual explanation obviously but its fun to imagine for me.

I think the whole universe of KND is caught in a battle between two sentient concepts hope and despair.

Since my comment is gone I will rewrite what I said before. The Creator himself Mr. Warburton stated in an interview that he is unsure how Father got his powers though he did throw out some ideas with the one he likes is the the concept that Father gained his powers from pure emotion (hatred for kids) that made him burst into flames. This actually makes quite a bit of sense since we all know his famous "You... Big... JERK!" moment where he was able to give Grandfather a scare and again when he lost his pipe which lead him to turn into a dragon both informing the viewers that his emotions are linked to the intensity of his powers. Someone like Monty can never have the dark suit since the man is way to kind and is always seemingly in control of his emotions. Now where things gets interesting is Nigel might be able to access/unleash the power of the dark suit, something that will drive the knd community crazy. Now what powers Nigel will have is a mystery since Grandfather and Father's powers are quite different, but I do know that his inner conflict will be the key to give him the dark suit. I mean as of this moment he is willing the kill his entire family, friends, World for the Gknd.

It's always fun to find another KND fan in the wild ^^ Ever since the GKND trailer came out some people have speculated that the Uno family powers are alien, kind of like what Ben 10 did with Gwen's powers. It would explain why the powers are so fundamentally different from every other adult villain in the show.

I just counted as a metaphor for puberty. Like once a teenager reaches a certain age there's a small percentage that they are going to gain superpowers and some twisted mind in the process having an ideology against children

I saw it as like...a visual metaphor for an abusive parent i guess? Like Father berates his 'children' all the time and wants to control all the kids and it's shown that Grandfather treated him similarly. Within the world of the show, idk maybe it's something passed down through the uno family that only the really mean ones bring out and use? Maaaybe Nigel and his dad could do it but they never felt the need to try 'cause they're Nice i dunno xD This show was ahead of it's time; if it came out now there'd be endless analysis vids about it lmao

I really like the idea that the Uno family are demons, or of demonic origin. And if we consider the crossover with Villainous, there is one frame when we see Grandfather alongside Demogo and Nergal and the voice over says : "formidable creatures from the underworlds" (or something like that). I know it doesn't solidified the theory, but it is still interesting.

I think Father might be an example of a villain who is both pure evil and broken. Pure evil because of all the times he tried to destroy them like with the broccoli and baking them alive in a cake, and broken because of his toxic relationship he had with Grandfather. I mean Grandfather told Father to get lost after reawakening him, told him that he liked his brother Monty (Numbuh 0) more even if he was the one who defeated him and destroyed all of his factories, and he might have traumatized Father with broccoli.

I believe Ben’s suit is similar to a power ring from DC cause we can see that the suit doesn’t get torn or even really damaged when he’s fighting but when he’s feeling like he can’t win and just feeling weak, Monty just ripped the suit off like it was nothing and we’ve seen with this man is going through and it hasn’t even been torn a little bit and we see him get his suit back after possibly realizing hey, why am I taking this abuse from my father anymore? I’m a grown man and I have the power to fight back now I’m not that little kid in the broccoli mines, and all that like to sparking him metaphorically speaking, and he gets his suit back after realizing he’s not weak and he has a chance, and I think grandfather even notices this because you can see on grandfather’s face he’s got a look of terror probably thinking I could actually lose him if he fuck me and his full strength right now but of course we all know he just kind of stops and walks away. The suit is definitely magic.

I hate the "it's someone's imagination" theory but the finale kinda blurs the lines. If we go with that, maybe Father representative of abusive family. Idk. Grandfather shaming Nigel's dad for not being evil enough sounds like Boomer talk.

the only point i wanna bring up is how Nigel once tried to distract Father by complimenting his new black suit and Father is pleasantly surprised and agrees that it's new, fits better, that he bought it and that it might still have the price tag on it somewhere, it was in Operation I.T. Probably just a gag but if you're looking for more tech points, that's one i suppose

Great video, have rewatched this past year Quite a few times and find it nicely put together. Keep going!(maybe more old cartoons or popular ones)

Speaking of the technology part, I think it has more to do with the fact that KND is all about kids fighting, and when it comes to kids, they have big imagination ya know, so maybe it also plays a role in it a bit.

I always figured it was magic, a blood curse, or demons. There is a resemblance to Nergal from Billy and Many and they did have a crossover. And he did have a half-human son. I don't remember, but I remember his son looking pretty human, he might have had an alternate form that looked more like his dad. Maybe demons? There's a vampire, so a half-demon isn't out of the question. They never show Father's mom. They only show one parent in each generation and Father doesn't have any kids so it stops with him unless his nephew gets it.
