Glad I found this on Netflix! It's super refreshing to find another Asian family representation on TV

To my Korean perspective, this show is never racist, but so authentic. If someone doesn't know about 1st generation immigrants thing but want to say something negative about this show, hope they can shut up.

Really one of the funniest and well made shows CBC has produced in a long time. Reminds me of when I first discovered Corner Gas.

I hope they continue it as a series of specials. Things missing were no Christmas show for a Christian family. Never an episode with bad weather, or winter (hmmm, it is Toronto after all...) And I'd like to see more on Umma's MS .

Good drama but... Korean wife calling her husband Appa is very rare. The typical way, is wives never address their husbands with titles. They just say, Hey, Look here, I'd like to say... etc. Or they call Yobo... But these days this word is disappearing fast. Appa literally means Father, children's way of calling their father.

I saw the scene with the trans person and Appa on IG, making me lose my shit. After seeing the trailer, I’m even more eager to watch the show.

I hope I can watch the show in S. Korea... Korean Netflix is shit. I've just heard it is on a stand-by process before being checked and getting registered on Netflix Korea but I think it would take so long.

I’ve watched a couple episodes so far and there isn’t really an over arching story. Just some people who own a convience store going through life. It’s one of those shows that you can just laugh at and not really think about. The father and son are mad at eachother so there is the story in the convience story and the story at the sons work.But so far the sons story seems very out of place in the show. Right now I’d say it’s a bunch of skits put together with other storylines to break up the funny. All the clips you see on RU-vid really are the highlights of the show. Highly recommend. But this stuff about relatability. Meh, I don’t see this show as that. Just a funny show.

What is up with this heavy stereotypical accent? Korean fobs don't talk like that at all. It almost sounds like they are making fun of Koreans who can't speak English. I bet these actors can't even speak fluent Korean at all.

2 of the main actors are not even Korean...two of them are of chinese and vietnamese ethnicity..

Too bad the showrunner just cancelled this show while its gaining popularity around the world. It just doesnt make any sense.

A friend of mine mentioned this show so I came to see what it is about. I hope it's as nice and funny as the actors say it is in this clip. I'm however annoyed and disappointed with the foreign accents on actors whose natural accents are American. First of all, I always find foreign accents distracting. In second place, why "othering" people? These actors are 2nd or 3rd generation American, why can't their show reflect that? Alternatively, why not cast genuine new immigrants in a show like this? At some point this accent thing will no longer be acceptable, in the same way as it's becoming unacceptable now to cast white people in non-white roles. I think it's important to have diversity in film and television but it should be genuine diversity, not showcasing the usual stereotypes. When will the USA come to the realisation that they're ALL immigrants (bar the Native Americans) and that some "immigrant" communities have been there for several decades and are as American as the WASPs.
