Firstly I always heard it as LGBTQ I A+ but seriously this all comes down to marketing. LGBT is catchy, easy to remember and fits easily on a sign. The longer the acronym the more unwieldy it is. It is much more efficient to list all the extra ones as being under the same LGBT umbrella than to expand the acronym ad nauseum. Take another acronym for a diverse group: BDSM now that one is a little more complicated as each possible pairing of letters means something but it leaves A LOT out. Still there's no push to add F for fetishists or P for poly. These people fit into BDSM communities but don't impact the acronym? Why? It's essentially brand recognition. People get the gist of it when you say and then, if they're interested (they likely aren't), they can ask you your individual specifics.

The amount of hate LGBTQA+ people are going through is terrible. Everyone, before you comment something REALLY inappropriate and rude, think. Put yourself in their shoes. Calling the LGBTQ+ community is the same thing as calling people who are religious by their religious affiliation... Baptists, Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans, Jahova's Wittness, Mennonites, If I were abbreviate those, it would be the same thing to others who have no idea what those abbreviation letters mean. Some people still don't know what the letters after the LGBTQ+ mean, and there are a lot of them.

Queer is still a slur for some people. Questioning isn't necessarily LGBT. Asexuals don't experience same gender attraction or have dysphoria. So QA doesn't fit. (I'm not excluding I'm asexual but the guidelines to be LGBT is to have same sex attraction or have gender dysphoria.)

There are better places to invest one's time - for example...learning how to do things/learning a trade, learning new skills, etc. Enough with "identity politics" and "culture politics" - it doesn't do enough to strengthen our society in the US.
