According to the Oxford Dictionary the definition of Main Street is, "the principal street of a town, traditionally the site of shops, banks, and other businesses." Almost every small town across the US has a variation of Main Street. Most of them are like the one here in my own city. As we continue to expand our cities further from their centers and become even more car reliant, the once sprawling downtowns have become very run down.
Many of our "historical" buildings are condemned because they're at serious risk of collapse. They are not taken care of by the owners and the city allows them to sit and rot away rather than enforce codes. Various "historical" buildings have crumbled due to neglect and soon we'll be losing more.
It amazes me that our buildings do not last more than 100 years but many of the buildings I seen while visiting Scandinavia were hundreds of years old.
Thanks for watching & have a great day!
