Dr. Matthew Hale, Assistant Professor of Communication, delivers a free video essay/video lecture on the life, works, and ideas of Karl Marx. In particular, I intro five basic ideas of Marxist thinking. They are: Historical Materialism, Use vs Exchange Value (theory of value generally), Class struggle or class conflict, commodity fetishism, and finally, Marx's theory of alienation.
I briefly discuss Das Kapital, The Communist Manifesto, and Grundrisse.
