Brilliant ,thanks. My mum lived to 93 she was never ill till she got old and very healthy and i could always tell where she was because she hummed all the time .
For years, I took citrulline before working out to increase arginine. Last year it turned out that I am one of those rare people who get acute pancreatitis which the gastroenterologist figured out was probably caused by the citrulline. A thorough battery of tests and images ruled out anything dangerous and I recovered. This documentary helps me get the benefits of nitric oxide without risking pancreatitis. Thank you for your scholarship.
@@jaymartin7297 I found that I can probably get the same effect with betaine and no risk of pancreatitis. I take a capsule that mixes it with protease with whey before and after a workout.
@@vij_kt While I do not know, and possibly it has not been figured out, some rare cases linked arginine, such as caused by citrulline malate, have been reported. This is rare enough that most people do not have to worry about it, but I do not seem to get away with it anymore. Now, I use betaine to get the effect I want in my workouts.
Wonderful presentation. Thank you. The Nobel Prize winner, an Italian M.D., recommends taking L-Citrulline prior to work outs. It's a precursor to L-Arginine
I'm a fan of L-Citrulline. Started taking it years ago to improve workout recovery, and it helped a great deal. It also helped with my NO levels. 62 and still working out with weights regularly. So important, to not lose muscle mass.
Excellent presentation! Many years ago I stumbled onto a breathing technique that saved me from an imminent asthsmatic attack. The technique involved nasal breathing (and not the " in by nose and out by mouth" process that we had been taught). It was promulgated by a Russian Professor, Konstantin Buteyko, who specialised in respiratory ailments and believed ( to much criticism) that all our breathing ailments, such as asthma etc could be reversed by nasal breathing. Conversely, bad breathing resulted in "latent hyperventilation" and an inexorable degradation of health through the years. My first attempt at trying his nasal exercise astonished me. From streaming eyes, runny nose, tightness of chest, I found myself clear minutes later - something that had never happened in twenty years of suffering attacks. I have used the simple process of a few breaths with a pause upon each exhalation ever since and never had another incident. My query is: given that Buteyko may not have been aware of the nitric oxide benefits through nasal breathing, but was adamant that decades of poor breathing could lead to devastating respiratory dis-eases, is this not why nitric oxide levels diminish as one ages? IOW, lower NO levels over each decade might not be a "given", but can be maintained with nasal breathing being taught from a young age.
I also practised Buteyko for a few months but found it hard going, my better half also worked with it, prior to that she had quite bad Raynaud`s, the Buteyko cured it. Having discovered NO through watching this brilliant presentation i`m working at increasing the NO with NO dump program and mouth taping at night. Something positive is happening in my body, i`m now 71 years of age.
@@tonyhughes7792 Good to know Tony. The systemcertainly works well and very quickly. When I played field hockey a decade ago, I used the "three in and outs" at half time for shortness of breath. Never had another "stitch"!
Thank you, thank you! Most of this information is over my head as a lay person but instinctively I know this is extremely important and I have to map out some type of plan on how to do this correctly and regularly. My dentist wants me to do a sleep study I've always had nasal breathing problems noticeable from teenage years where I can't smell well I'm now 70 with extremely high blood pressure. I'll start with the sleep study and try to incorporate the exercises that was suggested. Hope I don't have a deviated septum.

This will be my birthday gift to myself to try to Dana better understanding of NO. Thank you again you are a godsend I'll be listening to this again.
All the informations in such a short video! Amazing. No unnecessary talk or effort to make a lengthy video is your speciality. Very skillfully packed with valuable informations. Thanks. Subscribed your channel.
I agree. It's so refreshing to listen to a video without "awesome!" and "cool" and "hey guys." And no unnecessary pausing. No "ummm." Very professional. Rupa, please take notice!
I was so impressed with your presentation that I sent it to our personal trainer. I’m 78 and I’m really focused on improving my health. Do supplements have any beneficial effects?
Bravo, as a nurse, respiratory therapist and researcher I found your presentation on point. Excellent work and research. I have subscribed and would love to contribute to your comment section. Looking forward to future videos!
Soursop + max. 3 aprikot kernels per day. Baking soda + backstrap molasses in warm water twice per day. I would research this if I were you. Good luck.
These plants you have mentioned are very high in oxalates. Meat would probably be better. Plants are also difficult to digests especially the plants you have mentioned. Thank for your input❤️🎶
So I want to have sex, but can’t use mouthwash for fear I’ll reduce my nitric oxide and thus no wood. Guess I better make sure my breath is ok. Got it👍
Excellent summary. Watched it twice and took notes. Outstanding list of foods AND exercises to increase Nitric Oxide. One of rhe few sites I subscribed to. Will keep going back to this video for furture reference.
Terrific Informative video. I have known of NO for years. The protion on breathing was fascinating. My breathing is impaired by Chronic Sinusitis. I also have TMJ issues, on & off eye /ear pains, Tinnitus, Occipital /Temporal headaches, Lightheadedness/dizziness, even IBS (for many years) , bladder / bowel incontinence. I have found that those issues all stem from the numerous Cervical , Thoracic and Lumbar spinal issues : sites of mild to moderate stenosis dextroscoliosis, Degenerative Disc Disease, OA of the spine vertebrae and facet joints. These cervical issues are labeled as Cervical Instabilities (CI). CI affects your health in a Big Way. Not just the terrible stiff necks, but affects the Sinuses, the Chest Muscles, and very importantly, the Vagus Nerve (s - there are 2) . I will say your breathing methodologies are very helpful. Furthermore, I take 1000 - 1500 gms of Arginine , I will increase that to 3,000 grams a day ED is another symptom experienced which has increased measurably lately. I;m a 72 YO, male .
Excellent presentation, thank you. For balance, don't forget ruminant beef has high levels of arginine, the precursor to nitric oxide. As a 66 year old "carnivore" sports coach with zero veg and just a few blueberries occasionally my NO is in the optimal range as is blood pressure, exercise performance, heart rate etc. Apparently NO decreases rapidly with age however mine is way up in middle range.
I take citrulline and L-arginine in modest amounts. Both are in the same chemical pathway leading to nitrous oxide production. This supplementation, combined with a lot of sleep and exercise makes a huge difference to a variety of body functions now that I am almost 70 years old. It didn't help me when I was young.
The tidbits of great info in this video come flying at you like machine gun bullets! I’m going to have to watch this a handful of times to catch them all!
@@TheMovementParadigm Jus wanted to Thank u so much for caring and sharing such crucial information that We all would Never get from our Doctors.. we live in a world of Pills as a bandaid.. with No Real Cures.
Something else improves nitric oxide and involves hyperbaric therapy. Spending two hours daily in a hyperbaric chamber for six months will increase bodily functions such as ED, heart function, oxygenating cellular function etc. It is a substantial way to improve one's health. It also can improve lifespan as extended therapy will increase length of telomeres... So it is promising for life extension as well....
I have disabling migraine headaches - going on 62 years with them. I began taking nitric oxide and began having the headaches more frequently. I just had four attacks in nine days and am wiped out. I looked up migraines and nitric oxide and was very disappointed to find out that nitric oxide can cause migraines. Too bad because it seemed at first like the nitric oxide was giving me more energy.
Awesome video! I've been taping my mouth at night for less than a month (after delving into and then attending a class on breathing excercises). I just practiced your exercises and will be doing them daily. My bloodflow has already improved in the last two months since adopting the carnivore diet. I'm adding this video to a new private playlist titled "Next Level Health"
This is a serious question. Instead of humming, can we put a vibrator on our nose ? Second question. Does cooking those vegetables reduce the NOX content ?
Chew your vegetables 20x but not carbohydrates as this can double glucose uptake which is not good for diabetics. Chewing a mix of sauerkraut and carbohydrate can prevent this since acid conditions can prevent this glucose effect of predigest ion by mouth enzymes but probably not good for the microbiome.
Thank you for your excellent video. I HAVE A QUESTION.. We are supposed to avoid eating nitrates in processed meats because they form nitrosamines. (a carcinogen)… SO, can’t nitrosamines also form in our stomach if we eat certain proteins and nitrate rich vegetables such as arugula or beets concurrently? Please explain.. I have not found any information about this pathway to nitrosamines.
do you believe we should supplement with products that increase NO so that levels stay high all the time. some docs say its a rescue molecule and should not be supplemented constantly
Gosh you are beautiful - and intelligent too. As a scientist i had no problem following your discourse whose scientific depth is unmatched by any other video i have seen on this subject delivered by people i felt were complete amateurs, as evinced by the childish vocabulary and terminology they used. I wish you would appear in more videos on erectile dysfunction as Rina Malik has and who has had millions of views. Your discussion is far more rigorous and scientific than hers - hers was good too but catered more to to the layman - and is so good in fact it constitutes documentary. You could do a follow up video on which antioxidants work best for stabilizing the NO molecule. Ascorbic acid i have found is not very effective, perhaps because in the commercial versions one of the reducing hydrogens have been lost to convert it into a salt, sodium ascorbate. Ascorbic acid by itself is so heavily acidic that if you suck on a tablet of pure ascorbic acid, you will experience a bleeding tongue, but it is by far the more powerful version, and is what is actually present in fruit as Vitamin C. Alpha tocopherol i have found is better, but getting quality Vitamin E is difficult, it itself is labile as f-k.
How about a way to neutralize the side effects of L-Arginine, like viral outbreaks??? I used to take NO supplements and had good results...but...constant viral outbreaks were a major problem. Lysine does great at helping to suppress, but i don't take Arginine anymore. What options are there?
My own research informs me that any fluoride will disrupt the mouth microbiome. Apparently it can take 4 days for bacteria to establish itself in a non fluoride environment.
Thanks Doctor. I learned for me taking Statin medicine , I must take my CoQ10 regularly. I also eat steamed cooked Golden Beet for Nitric Oxide. California.
What effect does tap water fluoridation have on washing these nitrate rich foods? What about store bought vegetables? Has fluoridated water been used to wash them? If so, what effect does it have on oral and gut microbiomes? I would like to see a demonstration of proper tongue scrapping. Speech was a bit swift otherwise, well done!
What are your thoughts on the Green New Deal? I’m concerned they want to eliminate cows which is a rich source of protein. They’ve made it very challenging to buy meat because of increased prices. What other source of protein can equal natural sources? I know some vegetables have protein, but are so low that you’d have to eat crate fulls. I know some are worried about the climate, but if people are sick because of lack of nutrients, how does it make sense to eliminate them? Your video is so good and so informative. I think I have a nasal obstruction. I never really thought about breathing through my nose to increase nitrate oxide, or all the rest you excellently explained. Just wow! What in your opinion is the worst thing you can do to decrease nitrate oxide? I had heard Fluoride is bad. Thank You!
