A description of religious pluralism, the belief about the afterlife which claims that to get into "The Good Place" you just need to follow the rules of your religion. This position is often contrasted with exclusivism and inclusivism

I have to differ on Pluralism being about who gets into the afterlife. What you describe better fits the label of "universalism" (salvation is universal, for everyone, no matter what religion one follows). "Pluralism" is better used as a reference to how religious people live in THIS world, this life: an attitude of acceptance of multiple religions living side by side in relative peace and cooperation (live and let live).

Why should i think, that the afterlife is the defining factor of religion? Are we as a modern society strawmaning religion here?

The arguments that go "what about two contradictory religions" argument is a straw man position. In the beginning of the video, it's explicitly stated all religions have "some truth." W.T. Stace talked about how religions are based off of the mystical experience. So the aspects of religions not based on that experience are likely human inventions. C.S. Lewis noted that religions share many of the same values, so a pluralist could claim that underlying what we have in common is a moral law, and following that law is what's important regardless of the religion.

No it's not. You can't contradict the laws of logic. Religious pluralism is self refuting and violates the law of non contradiction.

@Mike Kane it depends upon the claim. Being skeptical of a claim isn't itself a logical fallacy. But if the skeptic adopts skepticism as a philosphy, then it becomes self defeating because it doesn't apply it's own doubt to itself. Religious pluralism is itself self-refuting because all religions don't claim the same thing. We have laws of logic just like we have laws of physics. You're argument and reasoning are constrained by the laws of logic just like you as a person are constrained by the law of gravity for example. Religous pluralism violates the law of non contradiction. A will always equal A. A will never equal B. Take any two religions and compare them and you see this in reality. Ex: Polytheism and Monotheism. Monotheists believe in one God while polytheistic believe in many.

If you want to feel good about the prospect of ceasing to be, try constructing an imaginary "afterlife". You could also try validating the construction with qualities, characteristics, and requirements. There is an infinite amount of details you, as a mind, could potentially construct.

Some religions have prospects that make ceasing to be seem lovely, like hell, so that's not necessarily true.

I don't specifically believe or not believe in afterlife. Is this bad?

OK... Consider me edified. I thought religious pluralism was the normative dogma that for anything good, more of them must be better.
