Bengaluru and Mumbai need porus asphalt roads as they face huge inundation during monsoons.

Would it work in wintry areas. As ice is known to be a cause of pot holes due to water expanding as it freezes.

That's caused by water getting into cracks where it cannot escape, and the expansion of ice is too quick for it to escape out of the original crack. Since porous concrete/cement are designed to let water fully pass through, no water should be collecting, and whatever water does collect has plenty of space to escape as ice forms and fills in the gaps.

the ability to leach water down to earth is dependence on the subsoil underneath. if underneath is of clay.. where do you think the leached water that went thru the pervious asphalt goes to ? wouldn't it be just like a big water tank, waiting to be filled full ?

If the subgrade is clay, using any permeable pavement may not be the appropriate application.

@@hawaiiasphaltpavingindustr5856 You could still use permeable pavement, you just need to have somewhere to drain the water to. I've seen some examples where they just pipe it into near by drainage systems. You don't get the full benefits of porous cement/asphalt, but you still do get many of the benefits.

Does the asphalt cope well with heat and humid locations..?

Yes, asphalt pavements should do fine. Did you have a specific location in mind?

Thailand, average summer heat of 40 degrees Celsius and 85%+ humidity. Would it rut or compress with light vehicle usage from softening with the heat..?

It is usually used on low volume roads and parking lots.

There's a few European countries that use it extensively on highways. They need replaced about twice as often as a regular highway, but the benefits out weigh the cons.
