Best way to describe a real premium economy is its most similar to a domestic first class seat, not just extra leg room but a wider seat and some add'l perks like priority check-in, meals, etc, but it all varies from airline to airline.

It's what economy used to be until the airlines decided to squeeze more money out of passengers

It's a huge upgrade from economy for sure. The price at times can be slightly more or outrageously more expensive though.

I flew in PE from Houston, Tx to Singapore with a 5 hour wait during our stop in Manchester. It was roomy and comfortable. In 2020 the round trip was $1,800 usd, now its nearly double that price.

Dude the plane matters as well. That’s the most technologically advanced passenger jet in the market right now besides the 787

I'm 5'10" and flew on Cathay in 2004, before premium economy. it's the reason I haven't flown across the pacific again. I'm sure premium is better, but if I have to cross the pacific it's business or better

Cathay Economy is also impressive. Extensive IFE selection, for some reason even tho the package is the usual economy class fare, I like how you got a tray and like some plate of sort and actual utensils while eating. Plus comfortable seat ofc

i flew economy on a tripple seven and a a330. the tripple seven seat was AMAZING considering it was a 13 hour flight. cant say the same for the a330 but altogether real joyride!

PE is ok until the one in front reclines it’s seat. That will decrease the space significantly

In New Zealand booking premium economy usually means paying 2.5x as much as a normal economy ticket, so a no brainer not to buy

I typically fly Delta, and I once flew premium economy from Salt Lake to London Heathrow. The seats weren't too much to write home about, but there was definitely more legroom. There were a lot more options for meal service, and they gave you a pillow, blanket, all the conventional overnight flight kit, but also basic toiletries like a travel toothbrush and a tiny little roll of toothpaste. So not too different from economy, but just different enough to make it worth the extra money.

as someone who always flies cathay pacific when i lived in hong kong i can agree it is very nice and one of the best airlines ive flown on

We just did business class from NZ>HK, HK>LON. 1st leg was great (cabin) A350, 2nd leg was 777 which was older. 1st leg service was horrible, 2nd leg much better. Overall though there was a real semse of poor morale with the air crew. Food was nowhere near what it used to be. Wont be using cathay till we see reports of significant changes/improvement. In other words, spending cash on business class = dont go with Cathay at the moment. 😢

When ever I check premium economy, it's about 2x to 2.5x eco, while business is 3x eco. Never saw an interesting deal on premium eco yet. If premium eco would be max 1.5x eco, it would be a no brainer.

Many airlines charge at least twice the price, not just 20%. If it were just even 33% more, I would always fly premium economy, but it isn't. You were very lucky.

im jealous of airlines that aren't based in America. With delta you have to pay 30% more for 3 more inches of leg room in "Comfort Plus" where someone like me, who is 5'10", is smushed in the seat with 2 inches left to spare and cramps on an 8 hour flight. First Class in America is also relatively a joke compared to non-american carriers.

If only all premium economy was a 20% price hike over economy on most flights it’s being offered. Max I would do is 40% higher, but airlines seem to think it’s business class. Given the airlines I have access to and typically fly, hard to justify even a 20% hike, because their economy is good enough.

You need to compare premium to economy. Some airlines give you 1inch more legroom and .5 inch wider seat. Not worth it in my opinion.
