XINDECO IOT is one member of RAIN Alliance and serves as the Chair of RAIN Alliance Asia Pacific Region. The RAIN Alliance is an international industry consortium that promotes the widespread adoption of UHF RFID technology in a similar way to other wireless technology organisations such as the NFC Forum, the WiFi Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG. ‘RAIN’ is the brand name that represents all passive UHF RFID products and technologies and is compliant with the ISO 18000-63 standard and the GS1 EPC UHF Gen 2 protocol.
RAIN RFID is a passive RFID technology. Passive means that it does not require battery power. This technology is suitable for connecting common items such as luggage, clothing and foodstuffs at a lower cost.
RAIN RFID can quickly connect billions of items within 15 metres (up to 1,000 per second) at a low cost, just a few cents per tag.
The advantage of RAIN RFID is not only its low cost, but also the fact that it can be read at short or long distances, at high speeds and in large quantities through most materials such as cartons, boxes and wood. As data becomes increasingly important to businesses, RAIN RFID provides the ability to better visualise inventory, solving many supply chain and inventory management problems.
As an example, it allows organisations to track assets in real time, whether in airports, hospitals, retail shops or industrial environments, boosting operational efficiency and improving the customer experience. For example, consumers can know in real time if a parcel has arrived on time, if their luggage is on the plane, or if there are items in stock in the shop.
