*Correction: The RX 5000 Series DOES support SAM (resizable BAR). They didn't update it on their site and most websites who wrote about it, did so in a seperate post. (Thanks @Mauser1965)

fun fact amd never mentions Intel cpus for rebar support, but you can use rebar with intel cpu and amd gpu.

I had it enabled but unknowingly disabled it and deep rock galactic started to have very uneven frame times. When I realized that I disabled it and enabled it once again - those stutters were gone.

Nice vid! I was wondering if this resizable bar really improves a lot or not and hey, just in case if you didn't know, Shadow of the Tomb Raider pushes really hard on a single core if you run it at DirectX 11 mode. I noticed that you're using the wine version and GPU bound is at 32~37%, which means that your CPU is being a bottleneck due to the single-core overhead caused by the game. I also have a AMD GPU (Radeon RX 5500XT 8GB) and I suggest you to change to DirectX 12 mode and disable shadows (because that's the reason why this game crashes at DirectX 12 mode on Linux, seems to be a Vulkan feature missing on AMD GPUs that is required to draw shadows at DX12) Doing that you will notice that your FPS will be way higher and you will get more accurate results about Resizable BAR and etc!

Mh, I just assumed that DX12 gives lower performance because it was very bad on my old NVIDIA GPU. Like, really bad, not just old Gen Vulkan bad, but thanks for the tip.

@@MichaelNROH OOF, nvidia drivers on linux are unfortunaly very bad on some games and APIs 😅 At least in order to run Davinci Resolve and OBS with hardware acceleration is easier than AMD

Even though I got a 11th Gen Intel CPU, I can't seem to find it in my laptop's UEFI options. Maybe I'll have to try getting the BIOS flash on the weekend. Not sure, cause fwupd doesn't show my device in the list at all.

Laptops have a very locked down UEFI, so I guess there is no way to enable it manually (it might be enabled if it supports it) unless you want to go through the risk of flashing a custom one.

Error. Best you update your knowledge base as the RX 5700 supports SAM. Each game will perform differently as this has been covered previously in depth by other content providers. Please note that with newer drivers even a RX 5700 with RSR will upscale to 4k on a capable display. So with a game being rendered at 4k, one can turn down if not run off post processing that will increase the frames per second also lower the GPU temperature. ✌

Interesting that without explicitely searching for it, it seems like only the RX 6000 series is supported. You are absolutely right, they patched it and didn't update their website. Most third party sites also didn't besides maybe a seperate blogpost.

@@MichaelNROH No problem, though it was covered in reddit and by IGN, overclock3d and guru3d in September of 2021. Those that have a RX 5000 series GPU were probably delighted when it was noted in the driver updates, not to exclude Ryzen 3000 series owners. Keeping in mind that the RX 5000 series was released back in 2019 July 7th, and that the main reference pages will be updated showing the most current products. Yet one can still get drivers for the ancient HD7970 series from the AMD support page. I appreciate your topic coverage regardless, and will be checking out some of your other content a well. Resize-Bar probably only appears when you enable Above 4G Decoding. It's invisible by default on my mainboard as well. The thing is, that both options are essentially the same thing and it depends, how the operating system and driver handles it. Just enabling Above 4G Decoding without resize-bar did change absolutely nothing for me. Probably because the AMD driver didn't use it, but Windows itself could.

The most common cases are an unsupported configuration or your mainboard might be too old

CS:GO doesn't show significant improvement if you enable ReBAR due to the game is prone to be CPU bound.

That's not the reason though, since faster streaming of Assets would still be beneficial for the CPU. CS:GO just does not stream many (or any) assets by default. Even the setting texture streaming does not add much to it.

It is supported in some ways, but not advertised and I couldn't find reliable sources. It could work with a CPU, from the NVIDIA hardware specs but I can't promise it.

I can't say with enough confidence. ReBAR is supported if both CPU and GPU (also your motherboard) have PCIe 4.0.

@@mustafairaq6586 That explains it yeah. MBR does not work on a UEFI boot and that's why it doesn't boot. You would need to convert your Disk to GPT, but I would recommend making a backup since converting it without loosing data is not guruanteed

Das Problem ist bei dir, dass du nicht umbedingt unterstütze Spiele getestet hast. Du musst mit dem Nvidia Profile Inspector dein Spiel erst anpassen um es dann richtig nutzen zu können. Dann bekommst du auch FPS

On supported hardware, theoretically yes. However, Laptops often have a very locked down UEFI, meaning that you cannot enable or disable it manually and you have to rely on the hardware vendor. It is typically enabled on supported hardware though

@@MichaelNROH thank you.. yes its enabled by default on my laptop.. also i deep searched a little bit i found that if support It takes part from the the VRam of the GPU.. Example : if you have a 4 GB VRam.. in DirectX and GPU-Z (AdvancedTab) you will see that you have less than 4096 mb.. maybe 3993 mb only it depends on the current driver installed at that moment.
