This dudes vibe is great, low ego high performance. Someone lucked out having him as a pl and probably a commander now. Hope he's had trustworthy ncos along the way
Sapper School didn't exists when I was in 1977. I was in 864th CB HVY Engr. as a PAC Clerk and Driver for S1, S2 I wish I had stayed in the Army and became Sapper Qualified, Airborne and Ranger. I met two Rangers from 2nd/75th while at Ft. Lewis. They told me all about Rangers, then I use to see them doing "Ranger" runs, etc. Then I decided I didn't want to jump out airplanes or do a lot of PT. So I became happy, just being a PAC Clerk in HHC, 864th EN. BN...
Dropped out of school at 16 in 83. Working at McDonald’s when an army recruiter came in and asked me what I was doing working full time at Mickey d’s, told him I dropped out of hs. He said, you wanna be a combat engineer? Will your parents sign for you? Yep. Off I went at 16 to fort lost in the woods misery, sapper school then was mandatory right after basic. Then your AIT of 12 bravo. 5 months of training then they stationed me in benning with an infantry unit. Did two years in the army then I lateraled over to the coast guard where I retired from the cg. Good times.
Last class McClellan, 98, benning for airborne, Lewis for air assault, deployed to Kosnivic, home for sapper, ADSW until 2001(attached to 85transpo/11chem,Ft Lewis), Pcs to Ft.Hood with 44chem under Coscom, after that it gets hAzy.
Combat Engineer Alvin the Director? You guys were sacred to us. The guys during our time were really great guys. At one time, we had what was called Pre-Ranger School at Ft. Richardson before you went to Ranger School. Your Bro is right about working on your running and what you call Rucking. Sounds like a good course.
94th combat heavy! We worked and lived with the 1st ID. Men and Wemon are not created the same. Lifting lumber and concrete shows the difference, but that's not PC.
Here we are at misery, Ft Leonard Wood. "File from the left, column left," said the Sergeant, We didn't know we could. We're gonna to be Engineers, for our Uncle Sam. So, we can fight those World War Twos, Koreas, Vietnams. [Chorus] Cause we are, Mountain Movers - Mountain Movers, Castle on fire. Weapons and equipment and man-power. Yeeaah! Nothing is too hard for us and nothing can't be done. Just tell us where we have to go, we'll do it on the run. [Chorus ends] Hey, Mr President, tell us that we can. Fight for freedom and liberate oppressed lands. Over hill, over dale, we hit the dusty trail. Drive on Sergeant, you we'll never fail. [Chorus] [Cadence with marching background] Drill Instructor: Left, left, left right. Troops: Always first! Drill Instructor: Left, left, left, right. Troops: Bridge the gap! Drill Instructor: Left, left, left, right. Troops: Breech the wall! Drill Instructor: Left, left, left, right. Troops: Shoot to kill! [Cadence and Marching Fades] Drill Instructor: Left, left, left, right. Left, left, left, right. Left, left, left, right. Engineer's Song (C) by William Cooper
Ranger School is much harder. Class 10-98 (HHC & B Co. 2/75th Rngr. Regt. 1997-2000). But SFAS was much harder than Ranger School in my opinion, it's you against your mind.
@@TheMcBlackster I never take any course for granted. Sapper Course is more of a mini Ranger School in my opinion. No think it should be extended to at least 6-8 wks. They should have a demolition/explosive 🧨 phase. I was a 92Y3V.
Nah you dont have to be an nco or officer, but the lowest grade you can be to attend is e-4(p) or in an e-4 TL position. But obviously shit can be worked out in your company. For instance an e-3 could be promoted or waivered to e-4 and then be put in a "TL" position to go to sapper school.
